Note to would-be developers: Disney/Harry Potter/Tolkien/your favorite movie already did that. Same appearance and everything. You're unlikely to fool anyone.
I think I have scraped the bottom of the barrel with this round. Badly written and formatted SAK vs. badly written and formatted item created to completely circumvent the rule of certain classes at a moderate cost.

An entry that is super short doesn't give me any glimpse of how you write (and probably doesn't have enough information to get me interested in your item). I can see what you're saying, but at the same time, I'll pick an entry that is brief and concise, if perhaps lacking in floridity, over something that runs several hundred words, is repetitive, rambling, and/or exhibits spelling and grammar errors.

I don't want my wife putting thoughts into my head. I'll choose the other item thank you.

Item that lets you do a thing with a weapon that makes no sense.
Cursed item vs. Item that demands the GM must do extra work.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Second dental prosthesis I've seen that is nearly identical in appearance and effect.
Oh. Well that's a disappointing name.
No CL and construction requirements?
alright... i'm going in, wish me luck...
geronimo!
Joke item, you're not even a useful joke item, and so I'm only going to glance at the other item to make sure it seems reasonably formatted and explained before I vote it up.

Remember to come up for air, the cheese is thick down there.
FYI: Adding a menu of options to cram several different items in 1 entry doesn't really make the item's idea any more interesting.

Already starting to get to the "seen these both before, know immediately which is better, hurry up timer" point.
I see what you were talking about with this barrel. When was the last time anybody cleaned this thing?

Direct ripoff of 3.5 item.

However as much as I complain I would like to report that I have just found a third for the Keep pile which is always nice.
It may even be my best Keep yet as well.
Why do people like creating items that are as likely to be disadvantageous to owners as they are beneficial (or moreso)?

Heaven help me — after considering what it was up against, I just voted for a camping item.
ouch...
first pairing out of the gate: cursed item vs. item that affects a category/descriptor that doesn't actually exist :(
i'll check back after the cull (or maybe tomorrow when i have more patience for this nonsense...)
Cthulhudrew wrote: Why do people like creating items that are as likely to be disadvantageous to owners as they are beneficial (or moreso)? I'm all for karmic items, but at least scale the cost appropriately. Paying an arm and a leg for an item that balances itself out seems a bit unreasonable.

Whoa. I just found an item that has NO stat-block. I guess I know what i'm not voting for.
DEFAULT! DEFAULT! DEFAULT!
Okay, torcs seem to be a very popular item this year.

I said it last year: Defining an item's limitations is fine. Putting a drawback in is just asking to get downvoted.
Okay, gotta work tomorrow so I'm out. Will pick this up in the morning.
If you feel the need to put in a justification to explain why you did what you did when you wrote the item, then it's not a good item.
Also, how did a 397 word item get submitted? I thought auto-rejects were actually auto-rejected. Really, I'd love it if the submission form went "Thank you for submitting your item. Word count is over 300, so your item has been deleted. Try again next year."

How much would a million or so gold pieces weigh? What I haven't seen yet is a Wondrous ATM. Now that would solve the inconvenience of carting all that heavy gold around...
Adam Daigle wrote: Orthos wrote: Adam Daigle wrote: Left, left, right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left. Up Up Down Down B A Start I CAN'T VOTE THAT WAY!
My B button sticks. That's why I have multiple NES controllers- after a great game night when you get the old crew back together, eventually a Pro Wrestling (the old NES game) tournament breaks outs.
Also, I just felt awkward- the police showed up at my door asking if I heard anyone yelling and screaming. Now, my house is the only one in the neighborhood with lights on (it's late on the East Coast), so I can see why they'd ask me. I haven't heard yelling or screaming, but I didn't try to explain that I've been sitting quietly in my house with two cats, smoking a cigar, and voting on RPG Superstar. I think I would have heard something.
As far as the contest goes, though, I've already seen a big discrepancy in those who actually read the rules and go through the boards here for advice and those who don't. I think everyone should compete, but for future competitors, there's a wealth of knowledge to be gleaned from past contests.

You're almost exactly the same as at least two other items I've seen...but at least you don't break action economy.
...and an item that already exists (with the same name) in one of the Paizo products.
I do not know enough math to understand this item.
Overpriced and overpriced.
I chose the cheaper one!
So many repeated items...
Please no more badly done Joke items...

I do seem to recall that last year, before the cull, I had a lot of repeats as well. Then I finally started to see new items that hadn't even turned up prior.

Did I really just get warned *not* to vote for an item, by the item??? Yes, yes, I did.

I count at least two items so far that are champion powers from League of Legends.
Oh, item. You're actually kind of clever and interesting, and would be so much better off without the jokesy quip in your description. (Plus, it would have kept you from nearly going over your word count.)
You've still got my vote, but just a word of warning if you make it through.
