Lots of elemental items. By which I mean, items that have properties of all four standard elements in one item (though not necessarily simultaneously).
What's wrong with picking one element and sticking with that?
Those mechanics really need about two short sentences to fully address everything, and at that wordcount you could have pulled it off.

Time magic makes GMs hate you.
Woot found one that violated 7 of the "don't do this" rules.
I'm sure someone topped that! Maybe someone can violate all 27 in one item?
More than half your word count is used for description of the item, but its actual function is described in less than half that.

Plot item. An interesting one, if headachey.
Rogue Eidolon wrote: Bobson wrote: I just have to share a facepalm moment. The very first item I read, on my first vote... is a blatant violation of Rule #22. "This thing can check for traps!" (paraphrased, but that explicit). Yeah, but I think I wound up voting for that item because it was the better of the pair X_X .... That's disturbing.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure that's the only place I didn't check -_-
Just saw an item full of old school flavor and kind of fun, if whacky, mechanics. Unfortunately, what it actually does is rather bland.
Alliteration is not cruise control for cool and witty!!!!
*Sobs uncontrollably*
Sorry about this just have seen too many "Cute" item names.

If there is anything that ANY fantasy setting does not need, it is auto tune.
And yet, the other item manages to be worse.
Ugh, headache now. Apparently going cold-turkey on caffeine has finally caught up to me. I'll restart my voting in the morning.
Yeah I have seen about 4-5 items so far that I really like. Faith restored!
Direct use of a copyrighted name...
Erg. I may have just had my first "equally bad" choice... think I'll flip a coin instead.
Cool item! Minor formatting glitch but I can live with that.
Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber
Yes, that item was really useful in that video game I liked last year. Could you at least have changed the colors?
Pretty sure that ability's from WoW.
Filigree! I've missed you so!

"Highly sought after by". Think this is on the "take a drink" list.
One that skirts the auto-reject rules, that will probably be twitch voted down unfortunately.
Grats to those making it to Star Voter!
Oh, just noticed I did on that last vote....
Kenton Abel wrote: As was the case last year, I will down vote any item which causes cruelty to animals. I don't need animal cruelty in game life, enough of it happens in real life. I think I saw one
And that's from Doctor Who.
Overly complex.
Also the other item is way cooler.
I've seen several items that would be pretty cool additions to a Skull and Shackles campaign.
Orthos wrote: And that's from Doctor Who. Was it a Fez? A Bow-tie?
Fezzes are cool. Bow-ties are cool!
See, now I get worried every time someone mentions a cryptic something that comes from somewhere...
I don't watch much TV and my video game exposure has been severely limited since my daughter came around a few years ago!
Guess that's what I'm relying on my review circle to catch!
What's with all the items that make me scared to use them?
Two items that don't do anything at all. I honestly cannot figure out what it is that they do.
Still voted for one, because it was better written.
Ow. I'd forgotten how much this makes my head hurt. Choice between "Bad grammar, unclear rules, too short for what it does" and "I don't even know... but it's definitely too wordy and metagamey."

Brevity is good, but in some cases...use more of the word count please.
Okay, item- you're not only an almost exact duplicate of an existing- and classic- wondrous item, but you're cheaper to boot.
So that's what you get. The boot.
Kenton Abel wrote: Orthos wrote: And that's from Doctor Who. Was it a Fez? A Bow-tie?
Fezzes are cool. Bow-ties are cool! Wasn't clothes. Was a pretty common tool he carries around that isn't his screwdriver.
Ok that one could have been cool and not over-powered at all, if the writer had not put in a bane. No reason for the bane if the use is that limited.
A good one! I like the idea
I've encountered two items that are the same idea as each other. Different slots and (slightly) different details, but basically the same item. Awkward.

At the same time, or just separately encountered them? Because it would be even more awkward for the people who get the two put head-to-head...
That said, I haven't run into my item yet but I've found one with a similar theme (but very different mechanics). I had to double check that it wasn't mine and that I actually submitted what I thought I did.

gross out items annoy me, light based items also annoy me... both are otherwise fine just not creative. coin flip?
If you're going to price something over 200,000 gp, please at least make sure it's actually worth that much (even though it really should be an artifact).
