How much xp is an evil aligned calf worth? Does eating a salad grant me xp now if its murder?

Many scientists believe Bigfoot is real, and there's a lot of books on the subject, but that does not mean Bigfoot is real.
On the topic though: Plants respond to electricity, but they do NOT have a central nervous system and they do NOT have delta fibers. Therefore plants do NOT feel pain. IMHO, Chamovitz offers fun conjecture, but there's a mountain of evidence against him.
It's probably easier proving Bigfoot is real.
Well for something as silly as a DnD forum discussion I didn't think I'd have to list a full bibliography.
This is why I typically avoid these discussions, I was just trying to add something interesting and someone has to go on a One True Science Rant.

Well, the solution is clear.
Eat the vegetarians. Problem solved, everybody wins.

I guess he was going for funny for those that matter. Who would care if his comments are offensive for his food?
To OP: I don't think mixing real world issues with gaming world issues is a good idea. Because of that few RPGs have christians in their gameworlds.

P.S. Everyone loves bacon. Its not a choice.
Kidding aside, DnD is hard to play without committing murder sometimes. Lots of orcs in dungeons and whatnot, and what's DnD without a dragon or two?
I hate bacon [/threadjack]

But how many beans did that calf murder to get large enough to feed the village?
I was curious, so I Googled up some info...
Supposedly a cow eats between 70 to 120 pounds of plant material per day. Depends on how big the cow is and what the plants are. So let's just use the average of 95 pounds of beans per day.
I then read that beef cattle are kept alive anywhere between 1 to 10 years before slaughter. Depends on the sex and/or how long the owning farmer wants to breed for more moo-moo's. So 5 years a good target?
365 * 5 * 95 pounds = 173375 pounds... that's 86.6875 TONS of beans... or 78641 kilograms for the non-Americans out there.

Mine did. We had a player/DM who refused, absolutely refused, to make a non-Christian character, no matter the campaign. Whether Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings, or whatever else. Jesus didn't need to literally exist in the setting, but the basic tenants of Christianity did.
Also, I dunno, I kinda like mixing the two issues. Because then you get great threads like this that I love reading.

okay don't eat plants and don't eat meat.
I will give you maybe a week to live. since you know people have to eat meat and plants to survive and have done for centuries. Also animals eat other animals and plants. so should the wolves be locked up for murdering sheep? and should the sheep be locked up for murdering grass?

I am pretty sure there are people on Golarion who would think of vegetarianism as murder....though logicaly they would veiw eating meat the same way.
So you have two kinds of people like this I would guess...
1) Crazies who starve to death...
2) People who can afford to buy Rings of Sustance
Or eat things that do not require killing, fruit, leaves, eggs, milk, etc

Clear spindle can also let you go on without food. Iridescent can sustain themselves without breathing. If you have access to the keep watch spell you never have to sleep. Just use all of those at once and you'll never have to breath, eat, drink, or sleep again. No more murdering for food/breathing!
Edit: How'd this get moved to the Golarion specific forum?

a) Probably depends on the species - and if it was fed with beans only for its whole life, it might get some kind of special attack...
b) only if eating the salad was a challenge.

I would disagree with this statement fairly strongly. Some of the greatest works in literacy involve real world issues (eg. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, Diary of Anne Frank, etc). Moral complexity and ethical dilemmas are powerful tools to make your audience sympathize and relate to your characters. It is used to build a complex narrative.
I have a hard time finding any aspect of literature that cannot be applied to good storytelling.
