Spirit Giants- giants with powers related to spirits such as shaman's hexes/spirit abilities and an at will speak with dead. Maybe they will have a third eye.
Harmonic/Sonata Giants- giants with bardic music and a sonic based breath weapon, immune to sonic based attacks. Maybe make them giant merfolk.
Muck Giants- frog like giants that is similar to grippli or bullywugs, gets a +10-20 racial mod on jump checks, climb speed, poisonous skin, tongue attack, and spits a glob slime/mucus that acts as glue, grease spell, or acid.
Crystal Giants- giants with crystal growths on it's body that protect it, can use them as melee or thrown weapons, can deflect rays, can crystalize creatures(petrification effect).
Forest/Green/Verdant Giants- gargantuan size plant-like giants with bark-like skin, green leafy hair , some plant based immunities/resistances, can sprout roots in the ground to heal faster, has fast healing as long as it is near plants and can control plants. Also no plant creature will willing attack them and they change coloration for the seasons.

Looked it up, and it's not on the list. So, going to add in the House Hunter Mimic. Three types: Young (large), Adult (huge), Ancient (gargantuan). Unlike standard mimics, these are able to live above ground, and can only mimic looking like houses, outhouses, stables, sheds, churches, and inns. I remember them from 2nd Ed days, and was reintroduced to them just a little while ago. Couldn't believe they'd never been updated since then.

Very interesting Chinese monsters being posted here.

Myth Lord |
The Abere is a cool female cannibal from the same mythology group as the Abaia.
She lures male victims with her fake beauty and then traps them with her plants so she can eat them.
While the myth tells us she is a cannibal, this would be a very cool evil, carnivorous Swamp Nymph creature that controls and animates plants, and which can increase the plants sizes.
The Zlatorog or Goldhorn is A Chamois/ibex like creature that lives on high mountains and which has golden horns and its blood will bloom beautiful red flowers which are known for their powerful healing properties.
A cool evil version would of course spawn black flowers which cause poison or death. Maybe Obsidianhorn or Onyxhorn can be the evil variant.

In terms of Five-dragon bands, what I would really be overjoyed to see would be five based on different native american Horned Serpents, and one consisting of five different types of Taniwha. In terms of more traditional ones, though, how about:
1.Dragon, War
2.Dragon, Famine
3.Dragon, Pestilence
4.Dragon, Death
5.Dragon, Apocalypse (CR 25 at least with seven heads)
Works a lot better than seven deadly sin dragons because we can actually have the right number!

I was like you once with the D&D-obsession.
Get over it, and turn to real-world-mythology like I did, much better than D&D. Most powers, animals and things are also found in mythology, there are only few powers and monsters that D&D is unique in.
Most cool non-copyright creatures from D&D are already in the bestairies, if you still like to wish for them wish for Ravid. ;-)
Also Dybbuk is in bestiary 3... So I don't really understand how you still wish for it?
sorry about the dybbuk, i missed the name in the pathfinder books i have. and I agree on real-world myth. I would like to see most of the serious open-sourced creatures put into play as Pathfinder mechanics, so I say look to the aberrations of the 3rd party open sources!!!
Spoiler, might be a bit long…

Which Planes would they Hail from?
Would you be going for planar dragons in general, or are you talking about planar dragons hailing from individual planes?I think that's a bit more of a realistic idea.
Well, we already have the five planar dragons of the inner sphere. So it's not like more planar dragons would be unrealistic.
Alex G St-Amand |
for full list of those under etc. aside from blightspawn, just ask, i'll check back next week, and maybe post the full list of those who have evaded the actual bestiaries if you request. otherwise, i'll be good so the Krampus doesn't take me in his bag full of naughty children ;)
Many monsters from the Modules, APs, Campaign Settings, etc would need to be refluffed, and in some case, renamed.

I wish there would be no 5 dragon thingy this time and there were just many, many dragons spread throughout the book that all looked very different.
Dragons spread throughout the books: Aitvaras / Ajatar / Asdeev / Bergkonge / Cuelebre / Drac / Gaasyendietha / Gargouille / Ismenian Dragon / Kampe / Knucker / Piasa / Nidhogg / Pyrausta
And many others I left out for now because I wished for them before.
If there must be 5 dragons, I hope they are based around the sins or horseman of the apocalypse.

they can do both...
If there must be 5 dragons, I hope they are based around the sins or horseman of the apocalypse.
Sins would be hard...
- 4 Horsemen + Apocalypse/"Beast of the Apocalypse"
- 5 stages of grief.
-
Planar Dragons- Holy(NG), Dark(NE), Chaos(CN), Axiom(LN), and Eternal(N)
Gem Dragons- Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, and Pearl.
Psychic Dragons- Astral, Chakra, Dream, Esper, and Spirit.
Might work as well...
Myth Lord |
I'm not a fan of science fiction dragons, especially not of the D&D gem dragons.
Psychic dragons could work, but the latest dragon bunch didn't really get to me, they all looked the same with different colors.
That's why I kinda hope they skip the 5 dragons thing or make them just like in bestiary 2, those were the only dragons I really liked.

Why not expanding the Chromatic and Metallic species then?
Chromatic: Brown, Yellow, Purple, Orange and Grey
Metallic: Adamantine, Mithral, Steel, Cobalt, Orium
I think the devs have stated they don't have much interest in expanding any existing dragon category, and would rather introduce a new set of 5.

You know what I would actually like to see.
A fallen angel/redeemed demon template. Something to make evil outsiders good and good outsiders evil.
On that note, a new undead subtype that makes them good aligned.
^This. I miss the old days when we had archliches and baelnorns.
Speaking of liches, undead lich templates for demons and devils, aka the archlich.

Any kind of colossal swarm. I don't care what it's a swarm of, but I want so many that it can envelop and freak out a storm giant!
I agree. There's a +0 CR template from the new Advanced Bestiary template book that was Kickstartered this year, I'd like to see a Paizo version for licensed release.

I know that Tome of Horrors 4 has a megaswarm subtype that lets you use small creatures for a swarm (Such as Dire Rats and Dretches), and Rasputin Must die has the troop subtype that allows you to make a swarm of medium sized mooks.
But on that subject, something else I would like to see: reprints of monsters from old adventure paths. For example the Oni and Kami from Jade Regent.

Yeah, there was one that Timmy wrote that definitely needs a bit of an update. A whole section's missing.
And while troop had a subtype, I'd like to see an actual template for that. I miss the Mob template from 3.5, and still use it with my own group, but since it's not OGL, I can't publish it.

I don't think that there is such a thing as a "Colossal" swarm. A swarm that big would simply be a collective of smaller swarms, either having 9 non-flying swarms in a 30 square feet area (around 2,700 to 90,000 creatures) or 27 flying swarms in a 30 cubic feet area (around 27,000 to 270,000 creatures). Whether the swarm has few or many HD, that many swarms can easily take down big critters. 9 rat swarms deal 9d6 points of damage to a Colossal creature, while 27 wasp swarms deal a whopping 54d6 points of damage to that same creature.
Ouch...
I'd say that for simplicity purposes, swarm got clustered into 10 square feet or 10 cubic feet areas to better fit an encounter with Medium creatures.
As for the Advanced Bestiary... Paizo already used some of their templates in APs, so I don't think it would be a problem to work with them again.

Any mob-like template would be useful, be for a squadron or a stampede.
As for AP monsters, they've been doing that since B2.

I doubt we will see anymore templates from the Advanced Bestiary pop up in hardcover bestiaries, now that Green Ronin just updated that book for pathfinder. We got them before because nothing from that book had been updated to pathfinder rules.

If it really is a colossal swarm of colossal creatures (such as tarrasque) than it wins the award of weirdest, less sence making wish EVER made.
I mean, a swarm of colossal creatures is insane, to say the least.
No team could make a chance against such a force and it just doesn't make sense at all.
So I hope you mean a colossal swarm of smaller creatures, for the sake of insanity.
kevin_video |
I meant a colossal sized swarm of fine creatures. So. Damn. Many. Like enough wasps to envelop cthulhu and get all up his tentacles pores and such. Millions of creatures killing in one devastating formation.
So basically you're looking for the plague swarm of locusts from the Bible that blacked out the sun.

Never heard of Pishachas...
But now I read the wiki I understand why.
They are:
1) Ghouls
2) Possession Spirits
3) Invisiblity
4) Generic demon-looking
5) Shapeshifters that take no particular form, they can become everything?
All those things are in pathfinder already in multiple forms, so if the Pishachas come to Pathfinder Bestiary, I really hope they turn out more original than the description I read on Wiki.
This seems like a monster that can do everything, from wind powers, to polymorph into ANY form they desire, to telekinetic powers to possession and to psychic assaults of the mind. A little bit too powerful, even Kthulu would be no match for one.
Many other myth monsters have priority over this one for me personally.
Myth Lord |
Thrid Party Books also used the Kikimora, Jack-In-Irons and Bloody Bones.
But I want to see all creatures from myths in pathfinder books, the official paizo ones as I don't like black/white artwork and I don't like non paizo products. (I do buy some of them and like some of them, but I just want all my favorite myth monsters in bestiaries, be it AP ones or real ones)
So I still want to see Bonnacon (while on low priority because I rather see the Aatxe, which is also a red fiery bull monster, but much better in my opinion) in bestiary 6 or 7 :-p
And I keep finding monsters on sites, from books and by accident even! (Pinterest is also a very good one to find new ones)
My latest finds are the mushroom-like Trenti and the Japanese willow hag Yanagi-Baba.
Trenti is a cool creature, BUT with the Polevik and Leshy already being mushroom-people I don't know what it could do in Pathfinder, i'm just happy I can use it in my own RPG.
Yanagi-Baba is a very cool find, and I love willow trees because they embody sadness, these Yanagi-Baba could be like the Batibat, evil Dryad species that spread sadness and feed on sadness, their hairs are like those of a willow tree of course.
