Its actually quite a glorious joke with Mr. Bulmahn getting buffeted by its insanity from every aspect of his career. I wouldn't be surprised if Jason refuses to drink beer out of bottles anymore because it looks too much like a Large armor spike.
Thats taking it a bit too far...

What IS the general opinion of most nations about the Pathfinder Society? It seems the more I read of them (especially from the Pathfinder Society unlikable or is it just me? thread) the less awesome they seem to be, utilizing unethical methods and hoarding the info and artifacts for themselves, becoming so bad there's actually a special interest group among them dedicated to steering the Society towards good ends (The Silver Crusade) and one dedicated to advocating for Pathfinder agents treated callously by the Decemvirate (The Shadow Lodge). And their treatment of Eando Kline and his warnings speaks VERY badly of them.
Simply put, it seems like most info we've received on the Pathfinder Society makes them seem more like egotistical jerks, more like Belloc than Indy. More like Heinrich Schliemann than Howard Carter. That they're not concerned with the study and analysis of ancient history, but more with the treasures and magic they left behind, and instead of sharing it with the world, only care about bragging about it to their colleagues.

Jason,
For the Rasputin Must Die module, what was the design reasoning around restricting an automatic weapon's attack to "one bullet per creature per burst?" Why can't a creature theoretically be hit by more than one bullet?
Also, what was the reasoning for choosing a line attack over say a cone or burst attack? How would someone strafe with an automatic weapon, or spray down an area with suppression fire? Or are these concepts not really in the purview of what you were trying to achieve with the module?
Thanks in advanced.

The Pathfinder Society has always been in the gray area, not really pure good, not really pure evil. There are a lot of different elements in the society, each with their own agenda and aims.

Well, I am pretty sure the thought here was to prevent guns, especially automatic firearms, from becoming ridiculously overpowered in the framework of Pathfinder. Its not perfectly realistic, but it prevents them from dominate the rules.

I understand that, and think it's a great way to have the organization. It just seems like most of the stuff about them lately has reflected them in a negative light, such as ignoring Eando Kline and accidentally causing a tsunami in Magnimar.

Jason, how come the mass combat rules are effectively just down to the CR of the average fighter in the unit?
The mass combat rules in Ultimate Combat are really just there to give an easy way to resolve big fights without digging too deeply into the gory details. To that end, it makes sense for a unit to be based on the average skill of the warriors it contains, to account for the leaders and untrained fodder that most such units would contain.

No offense was taken. :)

Hey, James just said that we need to bug you if we want a Swashbuckler class, not him. Which I now do, you got this "Advanced Class Guide" thingy coming up, sounds like a perfect opportunity to insert one of the most requested classes on the boards. :)
In case you guys for some unholy reason decide not to create a Swashbuckler, I'll still be looking very much forward to that book next year ( and the playtest this fall, oh yeah! ), but an acrobatics focused and lightly armored urban frontline class is still a niche that needs filling in Pathfinder, IMO. Rogues don't really cut it ( and sneak attack is horrible for frontline classes, anyway ) and Fighters lack skill points, class skills, acrobatic options and, due to attribute limits and lack of supporting mechanics, can't do "lightly armored, but not easy to hit" and "decent damage output" well at the same time.

Swashbuckler with Dex based damage with melee weapons using weapon finesse please.
Spontaneous cha based caster with druid spell list and totem animal spirit themed abilities for the Shaman please.
Slayer class to be more like a Monk/Ranger combo alla Buffy the vampire slayer, so an unarmed striking, unarmored, fighter BA class with favored enemy bonus please.
Please call the War Priest a Templar or Crusader.

1) If you could have any familiar or improved familiar currently allowed in Pathfinder as your familiar in real life, with actual fluff not being glossed over (ie, if you pick an imp it would probably be actively trying to damn you), which would you pick?
2) If you were a demigod with four domains and four subdomains, which would they be?
3) If you could have your own personal demiplane in real life, ala Create Demiplane (Greater), with one or more Gates to various locations, what would it look like, what properties would it have, and other such?

Here's my bet: Swashbuckler is going to be in the Advanced Class Guide as a Fighter/Rogue hybrid class.
As long as nobody has the horrible idea of saddling it with Sneak Attack, that would be a way to go with it.

If they do, I'll bet there's an archetype waiting in the wings to take it away.

I don't think the Dex to damage will be a part of it, as that's been placed power level wise as a mythic ability...

Actually, that is a mythic ability which places no constraints on substituting strength in all aspects related to damage with dexterity. There are ways to do the substitution without allowing stuff like "1.5 x dex to damage with two-handed weapons", like we already have with Dervish Dance or the Agile weapon enchantment.

1. I would probably go with pseudodragon... then maybe I could hang out with Daenerys.
2. Well, thats a bit much, so I will just go with the domains. Luck, Travel, Trickery, Evil... those are pretty much my MO these days.
3. Odds are it would be a giant library filled with books, games, and plenty of places to read and play. It would most certainly not require sleep...

Lord Jason,
Is there a rule stating how much a spell-like ability or supernatural ability that mimics a spell adds to a creatures CR?
I thought there was, but can't seem to find it and begin to wonder if I've gone mad.
Nope, no such rule. Generally, I would bump the creature's CR by one if I gave it a handful of spells appropriate to the creatures CR (roughly of a level no higher than its CR/2).
