Planning to pick up the first chapter of the Reign of Winter AP next week when PDF becomes available. Could potentially start on 3/3/13. I'm guessing folks would be interested, curious to know how many.
Might also be interested in trying to run a solo AP version of this, sort of a solo survivalist. This is still to be determined, but if more than one person is involved I'd be looking for four maximum. I like giving folks the opportunity to play, but 6 can get unwieldy.

A thousand times yes. I'm pouring through the player's guide as we speak. I'll throw my hat into the ring now before this thread fills up and go back to reading.
I'd be interested in playing someone who has some experience in the northlands (Probably a Dwarf or Gnome that has lived in Kalsgard), and playing a boreal sorcerer, rogue, ranger or arcane trickster (given that I have a cleric and a fighter in active games right now).

In fact, I'd like to tentatively propose Bastagar as my submission. He was originally made for Kingmaker because I was relishing the chance to play a character grounded in old folklore of gnarled old fey and witches and such things in the Stolen Lands. But Irrisen was born for this kind of thing!
He's a soon-to-be arcane trickster in the advanced stages of the bleaching, travelling from town to town looking for a cure and being chased from town to town by superstitious locals for consorting with witches, fey and worse trying to find a cure and buy back his youth. I'd probably take the restless wanderer trait and make a few changes to his backstory. If I'm stepping on any toes being the party's Sylvan-speaker I'd be keen enough to try a Dwarf or Witch Hunter or something similar. I can also change my class to better fit the party if need be.
Also I'd recommend taking six players. In my experience the ranks tend to thin out a few weeks into the game, and you can't be certain to pick the right four players straight from the get-go. Nothing throws a wrench in things like waiting for a replacement.

I have a feeling your interest level here will be far greater than your capacity. Usually any AP that gets proposed will get at least 20 applicants. Because this is new, you will likely get a few more than that. If you want to turn this into a recruitment thread, just post some rules. In any case, I'm interested. This would be a great opportunity to play that druid I've always wanted to play...

Yeah, what everyone else said. I've honestly already got an alias created for a RoW campaign; I have HAD it created for a month or two now, if that gives any idea how excited I am about this campaign! As far as character goes, I have an idea for a Snow Elf from a tribe that was scattered when Sarkoris became the Worldwound when the character was but a toddler. The guy/gall (not sure yet) would be an Oracle using the Ancient Lorekeeper Archetype and the Winter mystery.
Assuming you start at the location pointed out in the Player's Guide he/she'd be there to record the story of a halfblood snow elf and it's parents.

After reading the guide posted, I have only one thing to say:
It is time.
I have been waiting for ages for a chance to finally bring out my magnum opus--my main character (in my mind, anyway)--my first roleplaying character ever, and my most dear to me. This campaign seems to be a great fit for him.
Time to bring out Daynen Drakeson.
I'm adjusting his profile to actually be a more prepared alias, but will await final recruitment details for any further adjustments.
Daynen is a sorcerer, a half-elven child who's always been on the bad end of his mixed-up heritage. He won't specialize into any clearly defined role, at least not at level 1, but I'll make sure he does what he does well.

To that end would you mind giving us a little information about your DMing experience and PBP experience, what you plan to do for maps, and what kind of postage rate you expect from yourself and your players? Doing so either here or in the recruitment thread would be much appreciated.

At this time, hold off on full character pitches. I wouldn't mind getting a bit more information about your ideas, but I'd also like to read the first chapter of the AP before committing to choices.
My reading of the guide is that most characters might have some tangential ties to the far frozen north, as exemplified by the traits in the Player's Guide. However, I also get the feel that things are a bit more focused around how the 4 PCs are the ones that are best suited to respond to the sudden onset of winter in the middle of summer.
Just FYI - when I look for players in a party, I try to go with the standard fighter, mage, cleric, thief (or their rough equivalents) set of PCs to make sure there is a good balance of talent and skill.
No lone wolves. That's for solo play, and generally the lone wolves we have in mind aren't good enough to be lone wolves for the first few levels of play.

Non-rudeness understood completely.
1) I'm running a Solo PBP of the first portion of Serpent's Skull right now. We had a while off when I was in the midst of a pretty crazy job transition, but are now back to posting 3 or 4 times per week.
2) I'm currently test-running a PBP w/ 6 PCs of Kingmaker. I may begin running this in RL with friends later this year, but that might stall. I try to stick to a 1 post per 36 hours or so. This helps me craft without burning out.
3) I did try running a Skull & Shackles PBP, but when the job crazy-ness referenced in (1) happened, this PBP was a casualty. However, I'm still sane now, so I think it was the right choice at the time.
4) I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Roll20 for maps. If you haven't yet, Google them and check it out. I will generally not have time to play live very often.
5) I tend to not find myself chosen for playing in PBPs, so that's why I tend to want to run them. Probably just don't fit a niche.
6) I'd likely stay to 1 post every 36 hours, and follow up with PMs if folks fall behind.
7) I like to try and pre-write as many descriptive texts as possible, and usually keep them updated across devices w/ Evernote. It works pretty well so far.
8) I also tend to prefer terse posts to verbose ones. If I thought it would work well, I'd play by tweet, but I don't think that'd solve many problems.
The big problem I see is that if a player who falls behind for a day or two comes back to see that she has to read through 2000 words just to figure out who she should respond to, then that gets discouraging pretty quickly.
The game might feel a little rushed for some, or might feel like it is moving too slowly for others.
Generally, a post should encapsulate one round of action. Using a post to write out seven questions for five different PCs and NPCs to respond to can be frustrating.
Hope that helps. Of course, I realize the irony of (8) given that I've just submitted a 500 word response. But then, I think a slightly more descriptive GM is a helpful thing. Just need to keep it reigned in.

The only significant change I notice is that low point buy favors Single Attribute characters a lot. You see a lot of Barbarians, Wizards and Sorcerers at that value. At 25 points you start seeing more monks, dex-fighters, Inquisitors and odd multiclass combos.
So basically, low value feels more like "classic" d&d.

True enough. Have you seen a good way to up the challenge to be a bit more balanced, since Paizo APs tend to be written for 15? I've tried a few things, and they work ok. One is to provide a new ability point every even level, instead of every four levels. That's in the SS campaign right now. Working ok, but time will tell if it is a good idea or not.

I just maximize my monsters HP and have a tendency to play mean with things that are a persistent resource drain, like Poison, Fatigue and other status effects.
A few failed poison saves will turn a 25 point character into a 15 point character pretty quick.
oh, and Vile damage. Love me some Vile damage "You were stabbed with a Mhor'gul blade..."

Had problems similar to this during quests on a MUD I used to play way back when. Every time an NPC would say something, you'd have a revolving wall of 30-40 players all going through their introductory emotes and responses -- it was a headache. Verbosity has its place, I think, but when it's a constant it can start wearing out the welcome mat.

I'm currently leaning towards a barbarian that was a former member of the Ulfen Guard. Probably got duped out of his reward for said service and thrown in jail for a decent stint following his reaction to getting duped. Sprinkle in some self-loathing alcoholism, followed by a helping hand to get him back on his feet (imagining a priest or paladin of Torag at this point; I think the analogy of tempering or reforging a blade fits well here) and you've got a barbarian with a new lease on life. Backstory mostly points towards your typical Chaotic Neutral barbarian; current version is pegged somewhere in the neighborhood of Neutral Good.

Max HP does seem to be another good choice, and fair if all the PCs HP are maxed instead of rolled.
Vile damage sounds like all the curses we got saddled with during our LoF home game over the past couple years. Thanks for the insight.

I was thinking of a Artic Domain Druid, Kiger Haverthatch.
Born of a Ulfen Mother, and a Taldian Father, Kiger Has felt out of place his whole life. His Mother was a Caravan guard, a Brawny woman who stood taller than most of the Taldian men she was protecting. However, her heart fell for one such man, a well off trader from the town of Heldren. They where married and had 1 child, Kiger. Fiercely stubborn, Kigers mother insisted their boy take her Fathers name, Kiger FrostBeard, as is tradition in her Family. However, equally stubborn, his Father wanted a proper Taldian name. Finally a compromise was reached, and This Kiger Haverthach was named.
Kiger grew up learning his father's trade, manners, and sense of honor, as common in Taldor. But his Mother insisted he learn her trade as well, learning to grip a spear as soo as he could stand on his own.
His Mothers Ulfen blood runs thick in his blood, Kiger grew up tall and broad, sporting a long bolnde mane and beard, which he kept neatly trimmed and clean, due to his fathers instance. He has deep chestnut eyes, the only physical gift from his Father.
Even though he was "properly" schooled in Taldian fashion, the Wild called to him. He mother told him he gets it from his Grandfather, who was Shaman of their Clan. Kiger grew to have an affinity for Nature, and a love of Winter.
Kiger stands 6'2", and weighs 225 pounds of think corded muscle. he has blonde hair, with chestnut eyes. He is a Cheerful person, always smiling and Joking. He tends to get weird looks from people, becuase he is so well spoken for someone who looks like a mindless Brute. He endures insults from people who write him off a such, feeling that if they aren't willingt o get to know him, they are not worthy have having him as a friend.
He Yearns to travel North and meet his Grandfather, and learn more of Nature from him.
