I am writing my character's crunch up in Herolab [P.S. What print outs would you like?] and hope to have it to you either tonight or tomorrow. I have to go to work at 5pm EST so I may be able to type up the background and others tonight at work.

A [very] Rough outline:

My Character is a Human from the River Kingdoms an orphan of a formerly rich Pirate Raider who was stuck down in the constant civil war. He was left behind after his fathers men raided his home and left him and his sister for dead. One of the hand servents knowing the children took them in and took care of them as best as possible. My character never got over the shock of his fathers death and how his people turned on them so quickly and has become quit and reserved. His "Family" are all worshipers of Iomedae and told the kids tales of her and her angels. The angel Ragathiel caught the boys attention the most and made him work hard to find his place in the world and eventually seek vengeance. The call to arms was seen to be a call by Ragathiel himself to prove his strength and gather forces to once and for all wipe out the evil that haunts the river kingdoms.

New basic concept: ranger, possibly with some inquisitor thrown in, devoted to the slaying of demons. Probably with a personal vendetta, haven't worked everything out yet. But with the scores I rolled, anything should be fun to play.

Carlos - Need feats, traits, CMB, CMD, BAB and any class or special abilities also listed. Needs a background/appearance of some sort.

Titus - Adding you to list, but I'd like to see that background as soon as you get a chance.

Sault - Whatever print out is fine, as long as all the info is there and relatively easy to find.

Theodus of the River Kingdom

5 Magus [Blackblade]

Concept art:
http://thraen.minus.com/lbtnIqLGkps2zb

Theodus is human male that hails from the northern region of the River Kingdoms. He was the child of a rich and powerful brigand lord by the name of Geothdias. Geothdias was a mighty warrior that would raid caravans and barges traveling through the area he controlled but treated the people he ruled kindly. Theodus also had an older sister by the name of Ferelda. Ferelda was 5 years older than him and smart as a whip and sneaker than a cat. Their mother unfortunately was lost during childbirth and her death devastated Geothdias and Ferelda. Ferelda being only 5 at the time blamed Theodus for her mothers death. Through the years Ferelda would pick on and beat up on Theodus as any sibling might and be unfairly mean to him when she missed her mother. Geothdias however turned to the drink. He never struck his children or was mean to him seeing his former wife in them he instead started to become cruel to the brigands under his control. His raids became more reckless and more daring. Until one time something went wrong. Neither Theodus or Ferelda know what it exactly happened but when the brigands came back to their fathers mance they started to loot anything that wasn’t locked and secured. Theodus only 8 and Ferelda 13 were left behind after the chaos.

Only one person seemed to care that they were there. Helga one of the hand servants of Geothdias. Helga had raised these children in place of their mother and knew that if she did not continue to look after them they were bound to end up either on the streets or in the gutters. Helga was a devout women and taught the children throughout their childhood of the Gods and their ways. Theodus only ever truly loved and connected with was Iomedae. He knew that one day she would be special to him. After the events of his fathers death he knew he would give the people that destroyed his home their just reward and unite the River Kingdoms under his name. He delved into books about magic and gods and sword fighting and found he had a passion for the first and the last. He would take frequent trips to the cities with his sister as they grew up normally Theodus would go to the Wizard Hall to learn about the arcane or the Fighters Guild to learn how to best end his adversaries. On the return trip of one of these journeys his sister revealed that she had “come across” a spell book. Theodus was ecstatic and delved into it learning as much as he could and found to weave the martial and the arcane together.

A few years of training went by and eventually Theodus felt it was time to go reclaim his former home. He and his sister now a well established secret finder and purse lifter decided to help him in his quest. The pair journeyed to their childhood home. Theodus expected to find the place crawling with evil doers he could put down to avenge his father. His sister however knew that this was a fools errand she had been to their home a few times and it was run down and about to fall down the worst things they could see may be a wild animal making residence in their home. Theodus was disappointed to find his home empty but knew that he could at least take this time to remember the happier times. He went first to the pond where he and his sister played. Then to his childhood room where helga would dress him and tell him stories. His final stop was to the library a place his father went to study. In the library behind the moldy and rotten books he saw a crack in the wall. A secret room that somehow was not found during the looting. Theodus worked the door open and went inside. He found a room full maps, weapons, and wealth. It must have been his father's secret hideaway. He found a journal logging his raiding journeys and his plans to unite the local lords. That however was not the real reason this journey was significant. There was a sword on the wall a beautiful scimitar. It’s pomel a shiny golden spike, the hilt of fine red leather worn smooth from constant use, the cross guard golden and shining rising up along the side of the blade, and the blade ending razors edge. He took up the sword and he heard a voice say “We will begin your training in the morning.”. That was the first day of the rest of his life.

He heard of a call to arms far to the north to come to the aid of Iomedae. So he took up arms and left. Telling his sister to take care even though she was a grown woman and she knew he had changed and grown up. He set off up through Numeria and into Mendev hoping to get there in time to join the forces of a holy crusade and maybe start his own kingdom to one day bring justice to his father's enemies.

FINALLY finished. I changed Faraldur's build about three times before I settled on something I liked.

Presenting Faraldur Duervalk, dwarven alchemist (grenadier) and bitter old war veteran slash combat healer slash saboteur.

Stats and Story complete. Please let me know if I forgot anything.

I still need to flesh out the description and background, and buy equipment, but should be able to do that today before too long.

Thanks for your consideration :-)

Arg... the computer ate my character sheet. Spent too long on the edit profile page without doing a save or preview. When I finally went to save it, it disappeared, and it wouldn't let me backtrack.

I will try to redo it as soon as possible.

Loup here, posting in with Lysander Tremayne, Hunter of Demons. Combining combat ability with useful skills and a touch of magic, there's no better when it comes to killing demons... at least not if you ask him.

Let me know if I'm missing anything!

Sczarni

I'll finish up a background for my guy, if you want I can make a barbarian so there's more "meaty" character here. I guess you don't need three divine characters lol

How mount-friendly is this game? I'm interested in playing a cavalier, but I want to be sure that mounted combat would actually be useful.

Is there a deadline for applications?

TDP Hurley - Almost every encounter is on a relatively wide-open field outdoors. Look through the gameplay thread to get an idea (though the old combat maps won't be accessible). The first group (who ever is selected will be joining the second group) has a cavalier who does quite well.

Great! I'm thinking of going Battle Herald for a combat support role, but as we're discussing mounts, what's your opinion regarding monster cohorts as mounts from Leadership?

The 6d6 is too good to pass up.

6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 5, 6, 6) = 31 18
6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 6, 6, 3) = 28 18
6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 4, 5, 5) = 31 17
6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 1, 2, 6) = 19 14
6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 3, 1, 4) = 16 12
6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4, 4, 5) = 25 16

I'll have the crunch up shortly

Ah, yes, I suppose it would be good to roll stats before proceeding.

6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 6, 3, 4) = 29 18
6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 4, 2, 5) = 22 15
6d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 4, 3, 1) = 21 12
6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6) = 34 18
6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 3, 2, 4) = 18 11
6d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 4, 4, 2) = 16 11

I can definitely work with that.

EDIT: Do you still want us to add the level 4 +1 bonus?

Sorry, but I'm going to have to back out. The only characters I have been able to get excited about are ones that have the same niche as people already in the game, or are duplicates of characters I want to play in some upcoming adventures. I wish you all well, and I hope you have a good time with it. You have some really good submissions here.

Humm.... You have no arcane and I love arcane. Let me see what my stat rolls are and I'll formulate an idea from there. A 7th level game gives a lot of room for character building.

6d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 5, 1, 2) = 21 14
6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 4, 2, 4) = 24 15
6d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 3, 5, 6) = 24 17
6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 5, 4, 3) = 22 15
6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 4, 4, 4) = 25 15
6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 1, 3, 4) = 16 13

Edit: Not shabby. Ive never played an Eldrich Knight before. That could be fun. Let me think about it and I'll post a build and background a little later.

Here is my submission. I am still working out a few details, but they should be complete soon. He is a rather odd character, but that is generally what I go for.

So here is Rraah, Monkey Goblin Fighter. He's a dedicated archer, and absolutely deadly at what he does.

I want to play this character rogue knife master I will refill stats and will have same background keep in mind tho he wants to repent and completely change his ways.
6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 5, 6, 5) = 25
6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 1, 5, 5) = 16
6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 5, 1, 1) = 14
6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 4, 5, 3) = 25
6d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 2, 5, 3) = 20
6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1, 4, 6) = 18

17, 13, 11, 17, 14, and 13 I know this can be a good stats

Can someone pm me the character sheet to properly apply.

TDP Hurley - No leadership feat, sorry. Every 4 levels ability increase yes.

Monkey Goblin is actually an official race. Sorry, I read through all the new stuff and just assume that everyone else does the same. It is from the Inner Sea Bestiary.

Stats: Here.
Illustration: Here.

I love Goblins, and the monkey goblin is just as awesome, if not more so. I picture him as an ornery little SOB, but not the type who is hard on his party. He just likes to kill things, and gets annoyed when people get in his way. In his own peculiar way, he is a craftsman, and takes his craft extremely seriously. He intends to be the best archer in the world, and gets very annoyed if anything disrupts that goal. He's just as satisfied feathering a guy from 300 yards as he is from 3 feet; as long as he hits, he's happy.

Mechanically, he should be a big boon to a party. He has an awesome bonus to hit, great damage potential, and can loose 4 arrows a round, even in melee. His climb speed means that half the time he'll be up a tree, a wall, or even hanging from the ceiling picking off targets that can't reach him.

I've cleaned up a few things on his character sheet, and I'm just finishing up gear. Should be good to go soon.

Cool, keep in mind a climb speed doesn't let you auto-climb.

"Climb Speed - A creature with a climb speed has a +8 racial bonus on all Climb checks. The creature must make a Climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC higher than 0, but it can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened while climbing. If a creature with a climb speed chooses an accelerated climb (see above), it moves at double its climb speed (or at its land speed, whichever is slower) and makes a single Climb check at a –5 penalty. Such a creature retains its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) while climbing, and opponents get no special bonus to their attacks against it. It cannot, however, use the run action while climbing."

Understood, but that +8 counts for a lot with a maxed class skill. He'll have a +22 Climb skill and be able to take 10, meaning he can auto climb anything with a DC 32 or lower. I figure that will account for most surfaces commonly encountered. I'm sure there will be exceptions of course.

Sounds about right :)

Alright all should be set and good.

Time to crash.

I think I'm done with his background and gear and all - feel free to critique, and if the current group members have any suggestions, I'm open to them.

Just so you're aware, my plan (such as it is) is that Kellen will be wild shaped for combat (dire tiger form, fighting defensively for 28 AC, +10 to hit for 3 attacks, etc.), in the front lines with my animal companion.

Didn't realize you had so much arcane. in that case i withdraw.

Here is Ptolemaeus's crunch

Appearance:
Dr. Drover is a frighteningly large Shoanti man and, at first, his stony appearance and customary frown can be rather off-putting. He lacks the customary tattoos of his people and his hair is a ghostly gray despite his relative youth. There is certainly a story behind both of these physical traits but you would have better luck squeezing blood out of a stone. His hands are large and scarred but surprisingly nimble when it comes to fine task and his shoulders broad and strong. All in all, he looks considerably more like a crusher of skulls than a calm doctor.

Story:
Dr. Drover was not always a doctor, or Jallis Drover for that matter. Before the title and the name he was a failure. A young man who could not live up to the expectations of his people. He hoped to one day take the place of his clan's shaman and be a great and wise leader to his people. The shaman worried about the youth's pride and ambition and sent him out into the wilderness to test his resolve before revealing any of the mysteries and secret lore to him. Out in the wilderness, the boy was assailed by a dark spirit that laid claim to his mind.

When the shaman sent a scout to collect the youth. The malicious spirit, amused by this, tormented the boy. Terrifying him and turning him on the scout through fear and goading. When the boy slew the scout the spirit abandoned the boy to his shame and guilt. The boy fled to Riddleport, unable to return to his clan with the guilt of his deeds hanging over him. He was taken in by an elderly surgeon who taught him to heal as opposed to harm. The simple life and pacifistic surgeon's guidance brought the boy peace. He took the surgeon's name as his own and soon left as a journeyman surgeon. Instead of settling in one place, Jallis Drover kept moving seeking out new endeavors and trying to help were he could.

His journeys took him to Lastwall and then to parts beyond hoping to apply his skills on the edge of civilized and sane lands.

Basic build is a walking cruise missile. He spots the most important looking enemy and then runs in and grapples them. He is an adaptation of an earlier garrote monk I played, now he just manacles or ties people up as opposed to garroting them to death.

Shadow Lodge

Invincible flying DINOSAUR tank saying hullo. I hadn't realized this was going on or that there was so much interest. Still, it has been a very fun game, so I suppose it makes sense.

Some great applications here.

Shadow Lodge

@Abigail- Why does Abigail worship Erastil? Why the Plant(Growth) Subdomain choice?

@Kellen- What is Kellen's role in combat? Does he Wild Shape?

@Liette- Why a Spellstoring set of Mithral Chain?

@Titus- Nice mounted combat build; but why the level of Alchemist?

@Rraah- Have you considered the Adaptive enchantment for your bow and the Archer archetype? Also; Rraah has a very respectable intelligence score, yet from his background he seems to have the intelligence and approximate personality of a hunting dog. Is there a reason for this? Finally, why would he want to join a demon-killing party? None of us speak Goblin and he does sound like a loner.

@Faraldur- Why is Faraldur an alchemist? What made him decide to become one?

Faraldur doesn't consider himself an "Alchemist" per se. He's a combat medic, war veteran, and an experimental brewer on the side.

Mostly, his infusions and mutagens are an experimental mix between his knowledge of anatomy/natural cures and his hobby of home brewing. Nobody liked the taste or methods of the traditional dwarven medicine he practiced (oftentimes because it was simply adapted from that used on horses and dogs...) so he decided to try mixing it with alcohol. Some failed experiments later and he discovered some of the very interesting properties of his "special brews". His alchemist's kit is less of a traditional miniature laboratory and more of a portable fermentation set-up and other braumeister tools. That means that, yes, every time you have one of his infusions, you also might get a little drunk. :)

The other side of him, his bombs and gun and such, is just what developed out of necessity on the combat field. He's been in the Crusades for the past 40+ years and has picked up various skills because of that--mostly a fondness for grenades and firearms. They're flashy and do the most damage in a short period of time. His axe is just a back-up weapon (because god knows you need it out here in the Worldwound).

Shadow Lodge

@Faraldur- I really like that. Could I suggest adding it to your profile?

Done! Also added an extra paragraph about his personality more generally.

Actually, I made a note in my latest post about Kellen's combat role. The way he's set up right now, he'd wild shape for combat and would use acrobatics to achieve flanking positions with any other melee (or his animal companion).

With dire tiger form and the ability to fuse styles (crane + snapping turtle), he's looking at an AC of 28 (10 + 6 Wis + 2 Dex + 4 Natural Armor + 1 Shield + 1 Dodge + 4 Dodge (Fighting Defensively)), with the ability to totally deflect one melee attack per round that would have otherwise hit, and attacking with 2 claws +10 (2d4+7 plus grab), bite +10 (2d6+7/19–20 plus grab). Tack on the animal companion and flanking opportunities with his high Acrobatics, and I think he'll be fairly effective in combat.

That said, he's also a menhir savant, with a 22 Wis after magic items and the menhir savant place magic ability. He should be able to do fairly well as a caster if the need calls for it (though I didn't have the feats available for Spell Focus (Conjuration) and Augment Summoning to help with Summon Nature's Ally).

Hope that helps a bit.

ok, back from the weekend, going to work on background now

@Nathaniel, I didn't want to do the mounted lance thing, I saw this as a nice game to try and combine the barbarian and paladin. I was thinking of dropping the alchemist level for another barbarian level and taking mounted fury rage power, and then possibly amplified rage at level 9, but I love alchemist for a dip. The mutagen and the shield extract can add the extra push to AC for a 2 handed weapon user.

I know that I give up an action to drink the shield extract or the mutagen, thats why I did the dazaling display with my mount, I can still debuff with him. Should be a fun build. I like the idea of trying to keep his inner fire and passion under control in his pursuit to stop evil.

Nathaniel. wrote:

@Liette- Why a Spellstoring set of Mithral Chain?

Combat options. If we have an arcane spellcaster in the group it can be a versatile line of defense. I imagine Liette had used it to store inflict critical wounds spells prior, having them recharged by a cleric. But with a wizard or magus, she could receive shocking grasp or any other spell that could dissuade a target from hitting her again in melee.

Ghoul touch also comes to mind!

There's a lot of great offensive touch spells that other party members could charge her armor with.

Alternately, she could use it to store a cure critical wounds spell. Since it requires activation, Liette could save it for an ally in danger. They come up, touch her armor (and according to the rules this would qualify), and then get a jolt of much-needed healing.

There's lots of ways to utilize a good gadget :)

ok, should be all finished and ready to go

Hello folks your resident little too interested in fire sorcerer.

Seeing some really great submissions.

Some notes Jallis link(In Jelani's post) just takes at least me to the front page. Still saw it the more traditional way.

@Abigail: I see only one trait picked.

Looking forward to playing with you.

I looked at adaptive, and wasn't sure the advantage. I suppose it allows him to use Bull's Strength or Belts of Strength more easily, and therefore keeps him a bit more versatile. I can add it.

The Archer Archetype I looked at and decided it would cost him more than it provided. As built he has Point Blank Master now, where he'd have to wait for level 9 for Safe Shot as an Archer. In addition, he loses Armour training for Trick Shot, which I think is a big loss for an only occasionally useful ability, as I'd like to wear heavy armour and keep Rraah close-up capable. The movement and Dex/ACP bonuses are needed for him to be able to function as intended in heavy armour.

Intelligence among goblins is always a tricky issue, as they are generally always played as primitives (see We Be Goblins, etc.) but they actually have no penalty to Intelligence. I choose then to think that their outlook and attitude is cultural, which is why he comes across focused as a hunting dog. However, he is very crafty and cunning. He will be tactically minded; outsmarting and outmaneuvering his opponents. He's not book smart, he's streetsmart.

Why would he want to join a Demon Killing party? To kill demons! What better way to prove his skill than to take on demonic entities from another realm that terrify regular warriors. Rraah will be respected as the greatest goblin warrior who ever lived, and soon, the greatest archer in Avistan!

Too bad no one speaks goblin. I was hoping to go for a Han/Chewbacca kind of vibe, with him constantly chittering in his own tongue, with only the group (or some of them) understanding him. I'd not say he's a loner necessarily, so much as he is indifferent to people. he most certainly recognizes the advantages of working with a group, and is very interested in using effective group tactics to defeat any foes.

Posting as a wizard focused on buff & battlefield control spells.

Edits: Stats, fluff, etc are in the profile.
In brief: Jacques is looking to establish an area of the blighted land to build a laboratory focused on studying and closing the Worldwound. Mechanics-wise, he'll be picking up DC boosts for conjuration & necromancy along with meta-magic feats to improve versatility. Spells for combat will be focused around battlefield control, buffs & debuffs (enervation) while providing the expected utility of out of combat arcane-ness. Doesn't use any evocation so not to step on the sorcerer's toes, can speak goblin if the goblin archer is picked with Jacques & grabbed ghoul touch if picked with Lucent's cleric & spell-storing chain.

@Nathaniel: As mentioned in her profile, Abigail feels strongly about her community. She became a shepherd for others. For her Community came first, as embodied by Erastil. As for the Plant (Growth), I like the Enlarge Person options, as I want Abigail to support in melee and archery. I'm still on the fence between Rapid Shot and Furious Focus for her level 7 feat.

@Viorel: Thanks! I picked a second one.
