A lot of people will be happy about this.
This is going to make alot of ppl happy!
Yes! Now you just need to get the word out to the Mac community, and your funding will be done in short order. Mac users have very few native MMO options.
Glad to hear it! This means my girlfriend can play it with me.
Agrees with Zan glad to hear that mac users will be able to get in on the great game.
Next you just need to make an announcement of Linux support!
Hey GW,
Will PC and Mac share the same server, or will it be two separate worlds?
Cheers,
Daniel.

Wow, big-time announcement!

They have one world. There is no reason Mac would require a separate server since it's only a slightly modified client to accomodate the Mac architecture. Once it leaves your computer it's all the same to the server.

I sent out contact/news tip emails to a bunch of places: Cult of Mac, Inside Mac Games, Mac GamerHQ, etc. Hopefully there will be some press from this.
I bought my partner a IPad 4 this Xmas, and I am so looking forward to buying her a new one ( version 5, 6 or 7) in 2014 so I can keep her "old" one and use it play PFO in some way while I am on lunch break at work, waiting at the doctors or governmental office, while attending "fun" family activities, while shopping, waiting for a movie to start, or any other downtime where I am nowhere near my gaming PC.... :)
That raises an interesting question.. Will there be things we can do on more mobile platforms (iPads, other tablets, even smart phones) that will affect the game? DUST 514 is going to have the Vita app, for example. EVE has EVE Gate which afaik can be run on anything that a web browser can be run on.
It might be cool to allow people to set up manufacturing jobs, or modify the list of items they sell in their tavern, or even just passive observation functions would be useful too like viewing a tavern's inventory to see if you should log in and do some foraging or buying to keep your stock up.
This is cool news. Will it be on iOS as well as OSX, or just desktop/notebook platforms? I would love to be able to play on the iPad, but I understand there are some significant barriers to porting a game to iOS, even from OSX...
It's announced for OSX (for Macs specifically I believe). There has been talk of functionality use on smart devices eg (iOS - which Unity is capable with), but that's far off for now and not exactly for playing PfO: but who knows for the future with the rate smart device hardware is speeding up? Probably that and Cross-Platform need some FAQ addition, I'd guess?
MMORPG.com just caught wind of this so some press there.

Likely.
Ryan Dancey wrote: What I want to have is a Facebook-style social network tool that features characters instead of people. That tool will replace things like forums. It will be accessible everywhere you can make a web browser run, and have calendars, reminders, notifications, chat, etc. Good thread here.
Secured my enthusiasm... Not that it was in doubt. Honestly I just demand a time machine to hurry things along now.
I do hope there is an app
1) character skill training
2) local ah control (i hope AHs are limited to settlements/player nations)
3) settlement control
4) your NPC control (for say your smithing operation)
....etc.

I wish my finances would stomach a 500 dollar hit again, but I don't think I can really justify a speculative entreatment drop like that again. At least not until I'm out of grad school and employed again.
I'm very happy to see Mac support. It'll also make any Let's Playing processing much simpler. As it stands any time I want to make game videos I have to recored in Windows and then boot back over to OSX to process. It'd really speed things up to dump right into my Mac side screen casting software.
& Massively have just covered it, too. Wonder if Unity will do a press release on this?!
dis very awesome thank yu GW!!!!!

That's harsh!
Ah yes, Windows elitism.... how I missed you.

Frankly at this point us PC gamers (be it Windows/Mac/Linux) kinda need to not be knocking on each other. Not with most game companies dropping us all together and going pure console.
Drakhan Valane wrote: Next you just need to make an announcement of Linux support! AMEN. It would, of course, be a nice bonus to be able to use the stuff I've been kicking.
A quick Google makes Wine, at least, look hopeful.
I'm just glad the Mac platform's been added, as a relatively dedicated Apple user.
avari3 wrote: Papaver wrote: Ah yes, Windows elitism.... how I missed you. Awesome all good games are Mac compatable.
And thus my kickstart donation is finally given.
