Interested in seeing what Razor Coast is about?

I created a facebook event, where I'm releasing sneak peaks of the Razor Coast campaign book.

Not just art -- that too, of course -- but useful bits right from the manuscript. I'll be sharing some of the original sneak peaks, but entirely new material as well. Stuff that conveys the flavor and writing packed into the volume.

I hope to add something every other day or so, and when I do I'll announce it here.

I figure if I keep this thread relatively clean, it makes it easier for people to see if there's anything they want to check out. Instead of forcing folks to wade through 15 pages or more of posts to check for an update. ;)

So here's what I put up already that you can check out if you feel like it:

1. Old and New Weresharks Art from Andrew Ho and Cynthia Sheppard conceptualizing the weresharks that terrorize the Razor Coast in one of the campaigns many plotlines.

2. The Isle of Maht Enough text to use this in your game, today.
This island is named for a deadly black root that grows all over it. Maht — also called ‘Granpappy Blackskull’ — creates a terrifying transformation when chewed or smoked...

3. The cover laid out Not just the popular Wayne Reynolds art but the logo and trade dress we've been playing with.

4. Undead Cannibal Pygmies The full monster Adam Daigle and I created (mostly Adam). Anthropophagi. Fah-Jee for short - very short.
“Do we dare grant them humanity, these shrunken fiends who devour man’s flesh, by calling them cannibals?” – Alexandre Grevo

5. The Kiss of Dajobs New art preview. Get bit, you're it. By Chris Malidore.

5. Undead Cannibal Pygmie Pics New art preview: the Fah-Jee Totem warrior in the melting flesh. Also from Chris Malidore.

Stay tuned for more...

Today's Razor Coast Sneak Peak is

7. Dajobas, Devourer of Worlds - Hunger itself incarnate as a giant shark. The Shark God, hoping to escape its fleshy prison by devouring the world. One of big bads in Razor Coast.

You can see the sneak peak here.

You can back the kickstarter here.

Hey Louis, how many weresharks should we expect any any given time?

Depends on what you decide to do. I'm going to move away from previewing sharks and get into people, icky-necro-worm-body-possessing things, and squid.

Not necessarily in that order.

Stealth mechanic for just-below-the water rocks, mountains & reefs? Clever.

8. First Look Inside the Book

On today's Stealthy Mountain report, I'm just pointing you at the latest Kickstarter update. It announces 6 new PDFs added to a bunch of pledge levels -- really increasing the value -- but it also...

Shows a screenshot of AND gives a link to download a PDF showing the inside of the book. First Look Inside the book design!

I think I kept all the spoilers out.

Hey Lou you may want to post that stuff up on ENW and/or RPG.net, I am beginning to sound a bit like a broken record over there!

EDIT: and just as I type this I get a notification from ENW :D

That preview is very cool. I really hope this gets backed.

Agreed! The previews are pretty awesome. They are throwing back the curtain on some of the awesomeness of this massive campaign-adventure-path!

I just re-read the entire manuscript today...whew...I wrote so much of this so long ago, that I forgot about 70% of the awesomeness I squeezed in there.

Add in the AMAZING contributions of Tim Hitchcock (easily one of my favorite adventure designers, and a very twisted soul), Adam Daigle (a rising star in our industry who brings such flavor to everything he touches), Ling (whose devilish play on both crunch and fluff brings out all sorts of goodies), and of course Lou - who besides being my personal hero, is a genius when it comes to plot, flavor and sheer adventure - and you've got yourself one of the most innovative and striking MASSIVE TOMES of gaming goodness to rear its evil head.

Looking forward to running this sucker at Gencon!

My battle kilt is ready to be donned any time for a fight, but I'm nervous of being in the same room as Hitchcock whilst wearing a vaguely skirt-like object.

Mnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar

Anytime Logue, anytime

If some of that LARPing would finds way onto YouTube I'm quite sure it will be entertaining.

Especially if someone stumps for the 10k pledge and it is all done a boat with Nic walking the plank!

The amount of rape/slurp/tears that would generate is too horrific for my brain to grasp.

So tasty! Love the way the book is looking from that layout sample. You are a God, Lou Agresta.

If this thing funds and I do start writing for the industry in a serious fashion again, I hope you are at the helm of several of my projects from here on in.

Thanks for being such a mighty producer!

Gah. Stop it. *blush*

Today's update: it's not all undead cannibal pygmies and weresharks. There are things that lurk beneath Port Shaw, in the sewers. I give you art for...

Wow, Louis, you made a succubus say "eewww!"

Hey maybe that can be a marketing ploy:

"The Razor Coast: so disturbing, it makes demons ill!"

Yep and if I had the money to bump up my pledge enough to get it I would totally do it.

Hope to see you there!

That Blatcher’s Rum (excerpted from Fire As She Bears)
Gods made the sugarcane grow where it's hot,
And teetotal abstainers to grow where it’s not,
Let the Sin Boson warn of perdition to come,
We'll drink it, and chance it, so bring on the rum.

REFRAIN
Rum Rum, That Blatcher’s Rum,
Will tan your insides and grow hair on your bum,
Let the Blue Dragoon beat on his old empty drum,
Or his waterlogged belly, we'll stick to our rum.

These are men who drink it, hard men indeed,
Men of the pirating old-time hairy-necked breed,
They shave with their axes, they dress in old rags,
They feed on old boots, they sleep on old bags.
Dull care flies away when their voices resound,
And the grass shrivels up when they spit on the ground.

[REFRAIN]

When they finally die and are sunk in the clay,
Their bodies are pickled and never decay,
On the morning of judgment, when the skies are rolled back,
They'd stroll from their graves up the long golden track,
And their voices would echo throughout Kingdom Come,
As they toast the Archons in That Blatcher’s Rum!

I want this to fund, I really, really do, I will make an event at the furry Halloween con I go to every year to run this if it funds.

Contributor

I can be there, Lou! And I can be DRRRRRRRUNK for the whole thing if people prefer!

Liberty's Edge

Being from Florida, I always have to kill the roaches for the scared Texans.

Freaking nerve wracking is what it is right now but it's at 84% funded as right now. just $12K to go and basic funding will be achieved. If this keeps up according Kicktraq the projection will see it get its first stretch goal before time runs out. Just having it fund right now with tickle my Elmo.

Contributor

Here's hoping! If we can continue to gain momentum we've got a stretch goal or two in us, I feel! And what delicious stretch goals. The Heart of The Razor must be inflicted on the world!

Sovereign Court Contributor

On our latest episode of surreptitious massif, I present:

12. Old Fish and the Explorers Map (player) of Razor Coast.

Contributor

Unleash Old Fish on your players. They will thank you for it...with their blood and pain.

It's getting there, if we can get $65K pledged before the weekend's out we'll be sitting pretty. As in pretty good position to be through funding and onto our first stretch goal. Just a little farther and we're there and by this we need less than $300 to get that wonderful number of pledged dollars to the point where we're just $10K under the stated goal.

It's broken $65k.

And well on the way $66K. Praise Pele! We'll get this ship into port yet!

$67K now, but I think I might be a tad obsessed. I love pirates and tikis among other things.

If this doesn't fund soon I can probably sell my car. I can always buy another.

Nicolas Logue wrote:

Disclaimer:
While everything that I state below is true (to the best of my knowledge), I am not actually offended in any way by the prejudice against cockroaches reflected by The Roachlord, or The Roachloard itself as a monster.

Hey! Roaches aren't filthy! I have a tank of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and they are very clean!

Derail:

Roaches get a bad rap because they live in the places that they can find food: filthy houses. Roaches don't transmit any diseases (caveat: if they walk over spoiled food and then over fresh food, that could spread disease/ spoil). They are a good source of protein (they taste like chicken). They do reproduce rapidly (our population went from 6 subadults to over 300 in about 18 months); the American Cockroach is one of the most fecund species.

Hissers make great pets for toddlers. They are built like a tank, so they are not injured when dropped. They are relatively slow. They don't bite. They don't stink. They have no capacity to carry transmissible disease. They eat our vegetable scraps. They are an opportunity to learn about entomophagy (cook first, pull of the legs, chew well), and about the wonder of insects in general.
The only downsides:
-They ARE able to climb glass, so you have to take precautions to prevent escape.
-They reproduce rapidly, so it is recommended to develop a relationship with a pet store that can "use up" some of your extras as feeders. Alternately, you can start an arthropod collection and feed the extras to your Tarantulas and Scorpions.

Here are some more Pretty Bugs for anyone interested.

Itchy, dude. You are freaky in all the coolest ways! Thank you for existing.

On today's unobserved hillock I offer:

13. The Conmen Podcast interviewed me about this Razor Coast thang. Episode #17. I reveal things. Like my long affair with the mate of the Roachlord. She grew into herself when alchemical sludge spilled into the Port Shaw sewers and encountered a Mdagascar Hissing Cockroach. She has the body of a woman, and her head is... very clean.
