So far I saw my own item 3 times, still waiting to see my wife's item though.
Just saw my item twice almost in a row. A friend had seen it the day after the culling. So that's three votes up :)
My emphasis.
Statistically speaking, when does this become significant? I assume it is in the hundreds (depending on the number of entries).I am just curious, the sheer volume and the judge's final call offers enough balance IMHO.

3 times, out of 1,000 votes. I doubt I'm skewing my own item significantly at all.

I doubt so as well, I hope I didn't imply you were.
My question is simply curiosity about the math. Is it actually as simple as 3 of 1000 with the method being used? Does the ranking of X over Z strengthen Z's standing? Are three votes after the cull stronger than three votes before?
I doubt the answer could be explained over the boards in a way that I (trig being my end training in math) could get it, so I will end a derail of the thread. :)

Still have not seen mine, though two of my friends have reported thinking they saw it. I wish I could have a bit more sincerity than their "Yeah, I think I saw that yesterday, maybe," but the only ways I can broaden my search involve disqualifying my item and therefore taking it out of the running. SO! I shall just have to be tormented instead.

Well... I just saw my item again and I made it past the culling. Though I'm rather disappointed. Between looking at it again and reading the forums I can see one major "doh" thing I left out. Maybe it'll not be enough to kill it but ah well... another year, another learning experience.
I did the exact same thing, though in my case, (as with the not using italics with the spells), I actually removed it on purpose because it was not part of the original format rules. However, so far I haven't seen a single other entry that did it (with the exception of those that didn't bother to format at all), so I might have gotten myself in trouble by trying to follow the rules too exactly. :(
I also feel it is very unlikely I am still a Star Voter, but I don't are. Just seems odd.
I also want to point out, the other day I was very excited, finally seeing some new items and not recycling the ones I just absolutely refuse to vote for, but can't get something teamed with them that better. But, now I'm back to the same items over and over. :)

You're still a Star Voter in your profile DM Beckett! It takes a while...from 100-499 is 399 minutes at the minimum.

Ugh, is it just me or does The Culling impart mental images of a religious-esque nature? Something like in Revelations when 1/3 of the people will be taken into heaven.
Except kind of the opposite is happening here.
[Edit] Methinks Paizo should sell a T-Shirt that says, "I survived The Culling and all I got was this stupid T-Shirt"

I've seen my item 3 times (once since the winnowing)...and voted for it twice.
edit: use of the term "winnowing" is not meant to infringe on Neil Spicer's territory in any way. lol
I've been saying winnow the field or narrow the field because to me cull sounds rather harsh. Culling seems to imply things are poor and unworthy, while narrowing the field sounds less critical.
Could be just me :)

Not quite sure what your question is. However, my point is basically that I don't like being negative like that.
A: "We've chosen the best N items and kept those. Congratulations to all who tried!"
B: "We've chose the worst N items and gotten rid of them. If one of them is yours, you clearly suck."
I prefer to speak along the lines of A :)

Heheh. Again with the only.
Well, I've only voted 730 times, and I've only seen my item once ... and that was before they updated the voting :)
Edit: And 2 votes later there it was!

Well I saw my item twice early in the voteing process, but after day 2 hadn't seen it since, and haven't seen it post cull either. Now I'm worried.
The rpg match up gods are fickle, hang in there and hope for the best, you literally get to see the competition - you should have an idea on how it ranks.
