...your fight at the top of the tower will finish Level 1 of the Emerald Spire!!! and will be an appropriate time for you to level up...so definitely think about it now...

Ok, here's my plan. Everyone make noise while I unlock the door. Once open, I try to sneak in quietly. Once the door is open, I cast darkness. I then try to get in there and flank him. Once in, and after I get my first shot in, I dispel the darkness and Gray comes in and smashes him in the face. Any thoughts or ideas?
Technically, it's an Aid Another check - you have to do a melee attack the particular opponent before the opponent attacks your friend, vs. AC 10. If you succeed, ally gets an aid another bonus to AC (usually +2). It's not the most useful action in general because it only helps one ally against one opponent's attacks, that may or may not actually happen that round. I think some house rules could make it more viable.
I'm about to take a rather long vacation of sorts, until November 10. May be reduced to posting on a phone at times. Please bot me when needed, though I will do my best to keep posting.
Thanks for letting us know Yasmin...I will take that into account if you are a bit quiet now and again / GMPC where appropriate
Also Everyone, with Grulk dying, you are now all Level 2!!! Congratulations...update your character (and profile) as required...and carry on posting in the Gameplay thread...
And...I am looking forward to trying out the next level of the spire with you...
What would people rather do? I prefer 1/2HD +1 personally (and it's what I originally said in recruitment)...it is easier for me to balance things out...
That composite bow is nice. It looks like I'm the only one in the party who can really use it effectively due to proficiency and strength.
GM, are there any spare arrows in the vicinity?
The bow is valuable, so I'm ok with us trading it/selling it if it comes to it, though it might be a valuable commodity for me to keep. Currently my ranged weapon is my sling.
The rest of the stuff, means little to me. The cash is great, but Gray isn't greedy. He likes shiny swords and armor, not shiny coins.
My first inclination is to say lets press on, since we haven't even seen 1 bandit. If we show up back to town without any news of bandits, we might not get a warm welcome.
Then again, we've slept here...twice? Thrice? Which means we might need to re-up on rations.
In the loot we just found there are 150g (gems) and 124g (coins). 274 divided is 55 each. That combined with my current gold is almost enough to buy a chain shirt which would kick ass.
I think I am forced to conclude that a trip back to town would be beneficial.
All - now that you have cleared level 1 (without dying...well done!!!), I'd just like to check your thoughts on the game so far...
Hopefully you are all enjoying it so far? Is there anything you'd like me to do differently? More of something... Less of something...
From my perspective, I am really enjoying this game...there is a good level of interaction between the party...and the required amount of baiting the goblin folk!!!!
...what may be quite interesting is that the various levels of the Spire are flavoured quite differently (as they were written by different authors)...so expect a change of pace when you head back to the Spire!!!
I was at the game store the other day and my buddy showed me the hardback Emerald Spire book. I averted my eyes and told him to put it away!! I'm in the middle of that module, no spoilers please...!
My plan is to upgrade to a chain shirt. Book cost is 100gp. I'm hoping that Yasmin can get me a better deal with her high charisma and corresponding diplomacy.
If we split the liquid treasure we just found on the last guy, that's about 55g each. Does anyone have a problem with that? I know I just got the bow, but to me it is a situational, side-upgrade. My thoughts on loot are this:
-Split liquid assets evenly
-Hard assets (weapons, armor, magic stuff) should be assigned according to NEED, then WANT, or then liquidated and split up.
-previously assigned loot that has been outgrown or no longer needed, should liquidated and added to group loot.
Anyone have different thoughts on that?
Back to Grayface,
He wants to take his newly gained 55 gp, add it to his 44gp, and trade in his studded leather for a chain shirt. Depending on how much I can trade in my armor for, that should leave me with a handful of coins left.

What about adding an armored kilt to your existing armor? Same benefit as upgrading, with no added ACP as well as cheaper(that is if the Boss says its ok). If you wanted to go heavier, I would suggest scalemail(with the kilt pending gm's approval). Cheaper, but with the speed reduction.
...before you all get terribly excited about your spoils...and the money that you have 'earnt'... You will find, when you try and trade tomorrow, that there is a tax!!! So, you may need to temper those plans!!! I will move the Gameplay thread along shortly ...
....but you need to go with the assumption of items being sold for 50% price...and then a 40% tax being levied...no one ever said the life of a adventurer was fair!!,

I'm not all that savvy on the extensive equipment lists out there. I generally stick to a few basic books that I own and know well. I don't know about an armored kilt.
I don't want medium or heavy armor at this time. I value my mobility. Priorities might change later, but for now I'm sticking with light armor.
GM: I didn't hear your answer about the gems/gold we found. Do we taxed on them as well, or are we only taxed at vendors when we sell/trade items?
Party: If we're not taxed on the gems/gold, that means everyone gets 55g, with one person getting 54g. Since Rallos is so kindly volunteering his portion toward anyone else's gear, maybe he'll take the 1-gold hit this time since he is not needing gear at this time.
All...sorry, I missed the question...you are NOT taxed on gold, gems or other 'trade items'... Also note that, as per Lady Commander's decree, you are not getting taxed on ANYTHING this time around...
Ea feel free to take my sling and up to 30 bullets that I had on my profile. I have removed them from my inventory list, so add them now if you would like.
