It's in line with past info. Michael had completed all of the art by the end of 2016. Even the newest art piece that he released (a drow engulfing a lich in black fire) and the purple lich's phylactery, are both Copyright 2015.
Speaking of that art piece, I've been thinking about it. Posted it elsewhere to so I'll bring it up here. Those black flames look like the same as we've seen in a previous picture of a dwarf being engulfed. I've been searching around, and I can't help but wonder if either the phylactery has something to do with it or if one of the NPCs had the darkfire adept prestige class. At 4th level, your spells because darkfire spells, and anyone killed by them disintegrate. You have to be non-good. Perfect for the drow or lich. However, that's from Paths of Prestige, and that's a splat book too. Having taken stuff from splat books myself, and used it in a publication (much to a my editor's dismay), I don't know if he'd have willingly copied/pasted the entire PrC into the book (as you have to, usually with feats and spells if it's not accessible on the PRD).
I will say though, that the ominous picture makes me think that holding onto the phylactery turns your character into a lich. Or begins the process (as per the Way of the Wicked feats).

Probably old news for those of you who already have the book (came out in June), but Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Distant Realms has recently come into my possession (mostly because it's now PFS legal), and I came to learn of the aszite and druchite materials (only the former is PFS legal, but that's fine). Both give a bonus to creatures that use darkness or are in dark areas. Aszite adds +2 to Stealth checks and spells like darkness last 50% longer. Other darkness spells last +1 round. As for druchite, put that on a weapon and gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls against creatures that see you using darkvision. Armor gains an automatic 10% miss chance in darkness or dim light. I'd like to think a group of dwarf or drow PCs could make of these materials quite handily. Whether it's this campaign or not.
Figured I'd mention it for those not aware of these materials.
I also discovered druchite relatively recently and also intend to put them into the ToN world. For a simple material though, I thought it might be a bit much for my group of dwarves, and so I turned it into basically the one kind of weapon enchantment the Svirfneblin excel in. I think it fits the hole gnomes and illusions stick pretty well and I also like how creatures that have similar abilities are already in the adventure and can either have been the inspiration or can maybe provide component parts for such enchantments.

Not me!
So my adventure continues. Currently the PCs are clearing out an ancient yuan ti city and are about to face a reborn god or maybe join forces with him, then they are off to Dammerhall to face the black flames and the creatures that dwell within them!
Did the art guy say if he is going to put out a Throne of Night art book?
He has not. Haven't heard from him in a long while. It's been 11 weeks since I last saw him post something on his webpage. I'd probably get it though. I like his stuff.

I don't know if anyone else has the Adventurer's Armory 2 book, but damn is there a nasty alchemical item to use in the underground. More so at lower levels.
Darkflare is basically darkvision nullifying dynamite that you light and it then explodes the following round. Fort save or lose your darvision for 1d10 rounds, and it's only 1 gold. That's it. Wizards and alchemist drow and dwarves would have so much fun with that, regardless of what side they belong on.

I reluctantly accept.
As I said on KS, he's still supporting other projects, including an underground undead campaign. Just release the notes at this point. YOu wouldn’t think it'd be that difficult. Maybe doesn't believe it's worth it at this point.
I even looked into a lawyer for this, and unfortunately, unless someone can verify he's at his old address, you can't even send the missive. There's not much in the way of ways of gaining help given the specific rules laid out by the terms.
And he is supposed to be contributing a new adventure to the new Frog God Games kickstarter for Sea King's something or other for 5E.

Is he seriously? I honestly don't know how I feel about that. Definitely not great, though, that's for sure. I did not know that. Part of me finds that funny considering he's backing the project too.

Part of me hopes that he's slowly getting the funds to pay for this project because he ran out part way through.

I'm a backer and saw the name, but I didn't mention it because I didn't want to detract from the FGG KS. (Plus I'm going to North Texas Con in 3 weeks and may see if one of the Frogs could relay a message to Gary about the WotW print books for me...#EternalOptimist )

Speaking of eternal optimism, I was talking to one guy today about how I'm hoping that him being trusted to do this, and if it goes well, is Gary trying to make amends for everything. That this is his second chance that he's been given. I'd like him to do that and give us all warm feelings again.
It's a shame that this has ended in such ignominy. I asked a friend to buy into the kickstarter for me because at the time I was broke as f++*. How embarrassing is it to con your friend for someone like Gary. Since then, I've run a table top game up to a TPK in book 1 and am currently running a PbP that is nearing the end of book 2. So much promise, so much waste. I've statted everything out through book 3, Dammerhall, though I'm not totally happy with the maps I'm using from other sources.
This campaign is the one that put me off of Kickstarter. Since then, I've only kickstarted Reaper, since the clearly know what they are doing. It is unfortunate that everyone else on Kickstarter has to suffer the negatives of Gary's fulfillment, but that is where I am as a consumer.

And that's perfectly okay. I don't blame you one bit. I saw one comment on Facebook talking about this, and the reply was that if he drops the ball again, they'll just hire someone else and move on. There likely won't be a third shot for him if he does.

Don’t know if he’ll answer, but someone found Gary’s phone number and posted it on the comments page for the Kickstarter. I know I don’t answer long distance calls from numbers I don’t recognize, and he might not too. You may have to leave a message.
Just in case anyone wants to give a shot, remember, as easy as it would be to do, don’t be mean. Be calm and as cordial as possible. If he answers your questions truthfully, would love if that transcript was posted here. That said, think well in advance what you want to say. Write it out. Take down his answers. We all know what everyone wants to hear though.
It's so strange and sad to me that Gary had a ton of respect and fame after writing Way of the Wicked, then just decided to throw that all away. He could have been one of, if not the most respected 3rd party Pathfinder writer ever. Now his name is synonymous with broken promises, bitterness and disappointment.

The difference being how humans act after they’ve done something wrong. He went silent and hasn’t even attempted to apologize. Just keeps donating money to other projects for other systems. If he’d just apologize and say it’s not happening, we could get some semblance of closure to move on. No one would be happy about the loss of money or the project shutting down, but no one would be surprised. And it’s not like he hasn’t already muted things so he wouldn’t get dozens of emails complaints.
I’m definitely salty over the whole thing, and while I’d like to see it finished, even in a different system, I know it wouldn’t happen. And I’ve talked with other publishers about taking over the project. They won’t touch it with a 50-foot pole. Too much risk and bad mojo. And now it’s even worse because so many people consider PF 1e a dead system.
I’m more sad of the “could have been” aspect. After this, we were supposed to get a Way of the Wicked sequel that took place a few generations later and had you expand the empire to a newly discovered continent/island.
So much potential, gone.

I'm running a PbP that is getting close to the end of book 2. I have some good plans for moving forward, but I'd love to find your take again.

The Black Spot was released in 2013 as part of the Razor Coast: Heart of the Razor bundle. (2014 is when Heart of the Razor received its Silver ENnie award, but comments on RC:HotR on the Paizo site here indicate it had a mid-2013 release.)
So while it's disappointing that McBride is continuing to ignore his obligations re:Throne of Night, it doesn't seem that the Black Spot is a new adventure, so much as FGG using preexisting content of theirs as free PDF add-ons for achieving stretch goals. Sinful Whispers by Tom Knauss, also from the Heart of the Razor bundle, was included as a stretch goal unlock for the Sea King's Malice as well.

That took me a bit. I had to find my blog and make sure all the links still worked. It's been three years since I wrote it, and it had been three years since the KS ended that forced me to do so.
Everything still works, including links, so I'll just leave it here. I closed my blog a while ago due to lack of interest from others and Tumblr being jerks with how everything violated their ToS, so I just stopped altogether.
Hope what I've got there helps you out.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I suppose it would depend on what arrangement they had with him when they contracted him to write the module and whether or not he retains any rights to the work, or if it solely FGG's property to do with as they please.
Upthread I saw you mention a facebook post that indicated they were having him work on it, but I can't find said post to see what exactly it said (but, then, facebook's layout is atrocious... especially with that massive banner that eats up half the page if you're not logged in)

My profile here has links to everything I've done, including what hasn't been released yet. Speaking of which, I've gotta update that to include two adventures that are currently waiting on the editors.Was working on two race books when I hit a sudden dry spell after I lost a best friend to a brain aneurysm, a couple of months ago. Hit me incredibly hard and haven't been the same ever since. Eventually I'll complete them, but for now I need time to get through stuff.
It's one of those things where I'm glad I wasn't part of a KS that needed a specific deadline or I would have had to drop out. That said, I actually communicate things so I'd like to think if I was upfront on the reason I'd be given some leeway.
Hope your game goes well, and that the aid I provided benefits your players.

That could take weeks. They're down to like two people and are still catching up on stuff from back in June.
Also, why Paizo in particular? It doesn't have anything to do with them as it's not their product. If anything, I'd think KS would be contacted.

Kids, let it go. No, you won't get your toys. Yes, you were betrayed, left behind, your hopes shattered, the mirror - broken. You won't get your money back, you won't find justice - legal nor poetic and you likely won't even get any Schadenfreude out of this.
That's how life works, sometimes you just get played and walk off with nothing to your name. Been there, done that, several times.
It's been 5 years and you're still living it like it was yesterday's divorce. Move on. Spend your energy on things you like and are actually happening. Close this thread and stop asking yourself if there's anything else you could have done or whether your enthusiasm for this project didn't cause more harm than good.

It’s nice that you can move on, but even if this thread dies, there’s the KS location itself where we discuss on the comments there. Not to mention any of the Way of the Wicked book locations or books 1 and 2 of this AP. The conversation is wide spread. Some people will never move on.
