When Cthulhu is guarding the entrance to a dungeon....that's one badass dungeon.
Considering the sheer number of CR 20+ encounters in the dungeon, being bad-ass was never in question.
and there are WAY more CR 15-20 level encounters then there were, so we have a pretty good spectrum.

For me, all this extra swag doesn't mean much.
I'd like it if some of the stretch goals changed the core book. Like, increasing production value, maybe adding color, stuff like that. Think Ptolus (which had what, 1000 preorders?) for a reference.
I also like stuff that directly aids me in running the campaign. Scale battlemaps (or more of them). cut out monster cards with pre-printed info to reference while running battles. illustration booklets.
I couldn't care less about tshirts, buttons, minis, booklets that grant players rerolls, etc. And the poster map will be interesting for me to look at , but since I'd never share it with my players, it's of limited utility.
I get that a lot of this stuff is for collectors, since they are making the higher pledges, and hence bringing in more money. So I'm not really comlaining - just throwing my own (non-collector) preferences out there.

Us shipping for $250 and less will be $18 I think--no clue on larger pledges or HIGHLY padded items (like painted minis or leather books--I am taking no risks w/those). Suffice to say we will ship at breakeven or a slight loss.
We are adding additional PCs (real ones from our NTRPG games thanks to the $10k buyer!) and the Gods chapter to the book due to stretch goals as well.
One note--the "special" orders (custom art, painted minis) may deliver a little later than the lower levels do--just logistics of making custom stuff.

<crying> More in the book???</crying>
Actually, they'r pretty good with the backstory, makes a nice add with our regular pregens.

Hmmm. Makes me wounder what level the party'd be when they face Orcus. Using the fast track exp chart oc.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
More the second part, I would say.
Yup.
It is very non-linear in the fact you can go in at the Mausoleum, get your butt kicked, escape to the sunshine, wander around the wilderness, find another entrance, go in, get your butt kicked, leave, wander around, find yet another entrance, go in, get eaten by a sea monster, etc.
So, yeah, not a module per se, much more sandbox-of-death.

That's awesome, that's exactly what I was hoping for.
Thanks!
Oh, and Skeeter, you are too pessimistic. What's to say the PCs won't enter the Mausoleum and do the butt kicking. Or, have the sea monster for a fish dinner?
:)
Because I know whats there.
I was actually being optimistic. I said they were only going to get their butts kicked. That's very optimistic for this place.
;-)
And it has been done before, no question. Several groups have commented on various message boards that they have done well in RA, and every one of them has considered it a major accomplishment. Tha'ts all we ask, that everyone have fun, and work to overcome the challenge!

Okay I have a question. I want to become a backer on the kickstarter project at the $100 level but do you guys ship to Canada?
Yes, they should as they shipped other books there such as Slumbering Tsar. I think the delivery through Canada Post takes a bit longer than anywhere in the US mainland (For ST, Washington state to Boston arrived quicker than Washington to B.C.)

They will ship internationally, but remember that the shipping isnt included in the pledge amounts (it will be billed separately), so it's likely to be a fairly significant further cost. I'm sure they'll use the most cost effective method they can find, but posting a book that size isnt going to be cheap.

So far FGG is up to $175,106, 699 backers, and with 11 days days to go. At the rate this is going, I have a good feeling we're going to hit the next goal, and I think FGG might want to start thinking about a $200,000 goal. Seems the fans are serious about launching this company into a bigger business known for putting out solid quality books.

It's the 1000 backers milestone I'm hoping for. I've already twisted my wife's arm to make a separate pledge (almost got pledge 666 too). I've mentioned it to my gaming friends. Next step is accosting random folks in the street :)

Hey I bought The Tome of Horrors Complete which was excellent, Slumbering Tsar will likely arrive tomorrow or Friday and I look forward to it. So with such quality why wouldn't I support this? Don't get me wrong I love all things Pathfinder but I am seriously loving having a second company to support.

800 Backers is the big one for me. I'm already getting several dice sets, and I have a metric ton of dice already. The GM Journal and the Gods & Demons appendix would also be nice...but I NEED six more bonus levels. Besides, the journal/appendix goal will almost certainly be met if the RA Subscription goal is met.

Totally agree. I wouldn't think twice about taking out a FG subscription for bonus content (although I'm already panicking about what other awesomeness they have lined up and aren't telling us yet which I shan't be able to afford but will undoubtedly need to have). 10 backers a day, it's possible. Come on!
Jeremy Smith Dreamscarred Press |
I have to say, I like the bonus threshold that's actually a separate subscription.
I think that's a great "best of both worlds" thing - it doesn't sap into FGG's finances, but it's a clear reward for folks wanting more RA.
I'll be considering that as a potential one for our potential psionics kickstarter (and I really can't wait for RA to get to my house...)

Keep up the good work! Spread the work, make flyers! Keep the street campaign strong and spread the word about the power of FGG.

And as an added bonus I'm gonna let all my gaming friends locally know about this stuff. (I literally had to tell them about Pathfinder last year despite me being on board with Pathfinder since AP issue #1. Sometimes they are real philistines when it comes to the finer RPG products in life :P)

Specifically accosting random folks on the street... You knock them out, I'll drag 'em down to RA and then they'll have to pledge or we won't release them!

I just hope that this isn't a direct reprint of the original web enhancement; I'd like to finally get the last part of the chant spell, which the original cut off at the bottom of the page.

By the way, we're 84 backers away from 800. Then this will happen —
800 Backers Bonus Goal:
If we hit 800 backers we will have Bill Webb create a subscription service, starting this fall, for new added levels to Rappan Athuk. The $59.95 Subscription will be good for one year and provide 6 new levels (published by pdf every 2 months. At the end of the year you'll receive an actual book. If we get more than 250 subscribers the book will have a hardcover, otherwise a softcover.) All Kickstarter backers will receive a $10 discount on the subscription for the first year, resulting in a $49.99 price.
Also, 2 new goals!
$200,000 Bonus Goal:
If we make this goal, all of our backers who pledge $10 or more will now receive the PDF of The Libram of Fortunate Happenstance players booklet PLUS We will add a PDF windfall booklet for the GM to respond with their own windfall parchments.
If we make this goal, all of our backers who pledge $10 or more will receive an Orcus Decal.
Highest Funded RPG on Kickstarter:
If we close on Jul 2nd as the highest funded RPG on Kickstarter we will give everyone who pledges $10 or more a sew on patch custom made for this celebratory event!
-----
The minimum pledge is just one dollar! I think that the 800 backers goal is easily obtainable with a little word-of-mouth and player-bribing! ;)

I had a question about the $195 pledge and I figured I'd ask it here since I'm always logged in vs. the Kickstarter page. My question is on the $195 pledge- the two hardcover copies of RA you get, are they signed and numbered? It doesn't mention that they are and I'm pondering whether to jump from 175 to 195 as I'd like two books (one in each game) but the signed copy just fits in better with my signed Tome of Horrors and Slumbering Tsar. Thanks!
