Hmm... so a dungeon delve would seem to be the popular choice!

Naturally, that's also the one that will take more effort from me. All right, well, let's see where this takes us. I'll need a little time to get things worked out, but hopefully I'll be ready to start moving sometime this weekend. Keep your eyes open for updates.

Also, BT, Ainvar's right - you're doing fine! I just haven't given you a Shalelu to start playing off of yet...

In the immortal words of Peter Venkman, "I like this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it!"

After a little thinking, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to participate in another pbp. Even with being on a family vacation, I was able to post once or twice a day. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch to add another.

If it's too early to start thinking about characters/roles, I apologize, but I'm currently musing going with a wizard (conjurer, to be precise).

Never too early! My stable of inactive characters includes a dwarven rogue and a human fighter, I believe. They were both built for games that didn't happen. Of course, for purposes of party balance, I'm willing to play any role that's not otherwise covered - I have oracle ideas I haven't tried if we need a healer, for example.

For the purposes of character musing, I should note that this game will definitely allow (even encourage?) gunslingers, as well as pretty much all the rest of the feats, spells and class variants in Ultimate Combat. It will also make use of stuff from Psionics Unleashed, because psionics and superscience and like peanut butter and chocolate for me. So all the base psionics classes will also be available.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

I admit that most of my character ideas are brought about by seeing what a group needs. So I might wait a bit, but I do have some ideas floating in my head. But if we're doing a dungeon, I don't think I can resist a rogue of some sort. (I'm a little traditional, so psionics and gunslingers just don't interest me that much. I'll leave that to someone else. :) )

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Well it's amazing what a little thought can bring up. I am definitely going with a Dwarven Bard (Archivist). The idea of it is just too good to pass up. :)

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

A psionic might be fun, but I don't think I really master those rules. I guess I'll play a cleric. :)

Well, I'm a HS teacher and school starts on Monday. So that should limit my availability a bit. Still, if I only have to post once a day or so I'd probably be interested. Would more posting be required as it's more of a delve/less RP?

Assuming I'm in (and I'd like to be)...

We have a wizard, bard, cleric, and a rogue or fighter.

If Ainvar wants to be a skill monkey or roguish type dude, I'll be a tank. If he wants to be a tank, I'll be a skill monkey type guy. I'm pretty flexible.

I'm pretty comfortable with our current posting rate; I honestly doubt I'd be able to keep up with anything much faster myself. So once/day works for me.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Don't forget the bard as a skill monkey type. The Archevist already can disable magical traps like a rogue at 2nd lvl, so I'd probably be able to cover that aspect as well. At least that was the intent. But it never hurts to have two skill monkeys around. :)

Ah, didn't know they could disable traps. Cool. In that case if Ainvar is a roguish-type I'll be a tank. If he's a fighter I'll probably be some sort of inquisitor, gunslinger, or ninja or something.

Damn Damn Damn ! Too late !

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

On second thought, I may go with a gnome. I hate the to play into the stereotype, but the personality I have in mind just fits better with a gnome. And the 4 point swing in Cha doesn't hurt either. :)

I assume we're going with the same chargen rules?

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Oh, and do you have any problems with my gnome being over 100 years old?

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that I'm moving into my new house (first time homeowner, crazy stuff) tomorrow. I will have very limited net access until Sunday.

Well... I don't have the psionics sources or I would seriously consider that direction -- I might pick it up and go with a Psychic Warrior just because this is my first opportunity to do a psionic character in a very long time...

mbauers, assume I'm working up a tank. I just need to decide what type...

Um... Shisumo, are you using Psionics Unleashed for your psionic rules?

AinvarG wrote:

Yeah, and I linked to the d20pfsrd copy of those rules above for the purposes of this campaign...

Congrats on the new place! And on the new big "I'm an adult now!" responsibility!

Marcelina wrote:

Why? Do you have some particular reason for asking? ;)

No, I don't have any problem with that; if I let Gan be middle-aged, I don't have a problem with you being so either.

Since it looks like everyone's on board with this idea more or less, I will probably start the discussion thread for it Monday. Game itself to follow as soon as we have completed characters and I get at least the first level written up to my satisfaction.

I'm up to try something new - a half-giant psychic warrior. I don't know enough about the classes to know what I don't know, so I'm always willing to hear suggestions and recommendations...

(And congratulations, Gan. It's a different sort of adventure, for sure.)

That sounds interesting. Never played around much with psionics myself, so I can't help you.

And let me chime in and say congratulations on the new house.

That was indeed the idea. I'm not sure if I'm going for it or not yet though. I'll have to actually sit down and start working out stats and feats to see how it takes shape.

And congrats indeed on the new house. I just went through that a few months ago myself. It's a great feeling. :)

Shisumo, does the Powerful Build racial ability of the half-giant affect the damage dice of the natural attacks gained from the Bite of the Wolf or Claws of the Beast powers? That is, does he count as Large for those natural weapons, or Medium?

Medium. The rules are fairly explicit, plus Powerful Build is beefy enough as it is.

Well, I've been married for 5 years and I have a two year old daughter, not to mention my 30th birthday is approaching. So I've felt like an adult for awhile now :-) But yeah, it is pretty cool.

RE: the dungeon crawl:

So Ainvar, what char do you think you're going to use?

Duh, nevermind. Just saw the Half-Giant warrior dude.

So, is that guy more of a damage dealer or a tank, hehe?

Wow, can you tell I could only skim these posts when I read this earlier?

I'm obviously way too tired. Ok, I just answered all of my own questions.

So if we have a wizard, cleric, archivist bard, and tanky guy, I will come up with some sort of damage dealing idea.

Female Gnome Bard (Archivist) 1

Well here is my gnome bard. She's not quite done so I might make some changes still. I don't really like the disable device skill she's got (or lack thereof) but I'm planning to pick up a skill spec in it latter to compensate. Any comments are welcome.

Female Elf Wizard (Conjurer) 1

Introducing... the elven conjurer.

For your consideration. As with Mala, comments are welcome and appreciated.

Hey guys - you might want to take a look over here!

EDIT: Also, I will get things moving in Sandpoint in the morning - writing up the character creation stuff is all I managed to get time for today.

Given the flavor of the campaign I might make a spell slinger, hehe.

I know! I thought about that, too. Great illustration.

I'm not seeing a strong defensive path that excites me. I'm thinking I may take the Assassin's Path (Stealth as a class skill, eventually a bonus to damage while psionically focused). I'll work on my defensive nature via the standard mundane means, I think.

Or I may reconsider the build, but I'm kind of liking the big brute already and he's not even done yet.

If you want to make him more of an offensive guy, that's fine. I don't mind making more of a tanky-guy.

DM Shisumo just gifted me with the perfect path for Macawi. Build your blaster, we're all good.

Not that anyone swinging a Large longsword is going to not do some damage, mind you, but it's not my primary concern in the build.

No, he's going tank. Also, you should click this.

I've heard your whisperings, don't think I haven't.

"How long before get some loot?"

"He's such a stingy GM!"

"We've been playing for weeks and we've got nothing to show for it!"

"I want a pony!"

Well NO MORE! So there! You have stuffz now!

Use it in good health... while you can. ;)

Drops a pony on Lamsfel from 200 ft up, dealing 20d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 4, 1, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 5, 4, 3, 5, 1, 5, 3, 1, 4) = 70 damage

Happy now?

OOF! Sometimes, it's good to be the DM, isn't it? Oh, that made me laugh!

'Strue. The best bit was being able to deal that much damage without having actually to add up the dice...

K, so hopefully I can get all of my stats for the red redoubt thread done today.

From the Heroes' Ceremony, everyone gained 7 platinum and 5 gold pieces.

In addition, we have the following to divide up (I just grouped the like items together. They can obviously be split up further.):

Savah's Armory: "finest chain shirt"
Savah's Armory: "six magically enhanced arrows"
Feathered Serpent: "any five magical scrolls, one of which may be of second level"
Bottled Solutions: "two vials of antiplague"
Bottled Solutions: "two vials of bloodblock"
Bottled Solutions: "two vials of liquid ice"
Bottled Solutions: "two vials of alchemists' fire"
Hannah Velerin: "five potions of cure light wounds"
Sandpoint Theater: "five tickets to see 'The Harpy's Curse'"

Anyone have preferences? Do we just take the items that are present in groups of five and give everyone one? Basically, the CLW potions would qualify, but someone should probably make an appearance at the performance, too.

For my part, the chain shirt interests Lamsfel the most, but there are three of us that might feel the same way.

Marcelina would seem to be a logical choice for the antiplague and the bloodblock, if only for the general party use.

I'll certainly take one of tickets. It would be rude for the heroes of Sandpoint to not show up, right? :-)

Obviously I'm most interested in the scrolls so I can add them to my familiar. I assume Tybus might want some too, so maybe I can get the 2nd level and 2 1st and he can get 2 1st and some of the alchemy items? Or I could take all the scrolls and pay Tybus gold and/or a CLW potion to even it out or something.

I have to look up what bloodblock and liquid ice do, hehe.

Definitely Tybus would like some of the scrolls. Or, at least one -- True Strike, which because of some oversight I neglected to take. I'd concede the second level scroll to Gan, since it'll take longer before I'm casting second level spells to begin with. Tybus is probably eyeing the chain shirt, too, though I'm sure Lamsfel's got his eyes on that, as well. As far as the arrows, he's not much of a ranged guy, even though he's got a bow.

So, wish list for Tybus in priority:

1 scroll, True Strike
Chain Shirt
1 scroll, (something else. Not sure yet.)
Potion of CLW
