Hiya there folks. Been wanting some criticism or counsel on my magus, specially from the Runes group. Any ideas?

edit: Figured I might link up so you guys could see him.

I've not been playing in HoR for very long, so I can't really speak as to how I think your character will work out in the campaign, but it does look like an interesting character.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Jinx: Like the tengus, you might have just stumbled into the crypt in search of some shinies - but then you need a good story who you were ever able to make it so far on your own^^

@ Shady: A cleric could have his own reasons to be down there - search for the grave of a relative etc.

@ Rune: As I told you already: Char looks good and ready for action.

Ideas:

  • Off-the-cuff I would imagine some sort of highly skilled Mission Impossible-esque dangling upside down by ropes to avoid magical lasers.
  • He does have skills in the Darklands, considering his origins, perhaps he found a hole in the defences and followed the others taking advantage of the going out of business sale on dead bodies exploiting the cracks in their security.
  • He could be residing in some of the adjoining tunnels, or he has absolutely no clue that there is a city above his head.
  • Brought down to work off his incarceration debt as a slave and has escaped from his bonds and is wandering about after grabbing his gear.
  • Glancing at older posts: Jun 7 - "As you leave the safety of the city, you hear some shrieking goblins behind you..."
Perhaps it is not the Ossuary that attracted Jinx's attention, but instead it is the party's shiny. Since he does not have the ability to feather fall he had to clamber down the cliff wall, and has been simply falling in line skulking in behind them. The guards might assume that he is with the others and have let him pass.
  • Bribed his way down possibly?
  • He might not be considered to be anything more than an annoyance, something to be left alone until it becomes inconvenient, at which point it will be squashed like a gnat.
  • Jinx does carry a silvered holy symbol to Besmara, so that might have gotten him farther than a typical goblin would have, especially in Kaer Maga, a place that is so forgiving for those of different racial origins.
  • Sent by an interested party to help the group for unknown reasons.

I am honestly game for anything :) I am your chew toy.

We could mix pt 4 and the tengus:

They could have bought you a while ago and used you as cannon fodder for traps - somehow you survived and fled from them as soon as you reached the ossuary?!

I like it, and it makes sense since he has the trap spotter rogue talent and a +14 to find the traps once he senses them.

Wandering about he meets up with some tengu friends :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Very good, then you may just join the spider fight from the rear!

Zyren Zemerys wrote:

Danke.

I see Jinx in the initiative order. Would he be coming in behind the PCs, or the rear spider?

Just trying to visualize where he is so I can determine his first action.

Also, 1 square = 5'?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Huh? Did you take a look at the map? He's already on it. And yeah, squares are 5 feet as usual :)

I did indeed, but I guess his stealth skill exceeds my perception roll cause I still don't see him.

Must be blind.

Waited a bit then refreshed a few times and tada there he is.

Thanks.

With the 10% on our armor purchases, Kabal will have enough left over after selling his old armor and shield to get a +1 shield. Can I add this to our shopping list? any time delays?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Jinx: Computer mojo :)

@ Kabal: No prob, no delays

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Fighter (Lore Warden archetype) 7

Caterine will be flying out of Malaysia and back into Australia on 28th September and will be visiting family for a couple of weeks through to the 15th of October. While I should still be able to check in periodically it will likely cause a few interruptions and my posts may involve a little more brevity than usual.

If needed at any point feel free to keep things moving with a DMPC :)

VC - Sydney, Australia

You know we have Internet in Australia right? We have moved from a bit of wool between two cans. :p

Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Fighter (Lore Warden archetype) 7

Hence the periodical checking and what not. Though between a grandmother who is a dab hand at Facebook games and familial gatherings time will be limited still :P

Back again! What a nice trip :)

Gah stupid weekend! I don't know what was wrong with my body but it would not let me sleep! Would not let me sleep past 0600 saturday or sunday and even though I was tired all day I could not fall asleep whenever I tried to nap! So now it's monday and i'm freaking exhausted at work. Yay. I need to shoot myself.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Ha, this morning at 0600 I was already at the foot of Mt Tomaree climbing up to watch the sunrise over the Pacific and the chain of islands off the coastline :) I was going to start the morning with a nice beach to beach run, but the thought of a morning sunrise from the peak was just too nice.

If I had planned to get up that early it would have been no problem. But three days in a row when I'm trying to sleep until 0715, my normal wake up time, is getting annoying.

My goal this morning is to find clean underwear and if I put it on inside out (likely), at least to have the urinary flap thingy pointing the right way.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

bah!

Hah, it's terror Monday and still, I'm able to update - hallelujah!

Male Pale Master

^ thats the best news Ive heard all day!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

heh - I'm still not sure how the Aramis illusion is going to dissolve? Will he just vanish?

ZZ: Come hell or highwater I will get the cleric done tonight. To be able to do what i suggested in my email I'll just take a level of fighter to cover weapons and armor for a tank like cleric.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Good idea and I don't think you will miss that level in the end.

@ Rune: Are you ready to start then?

They will just go around a corner or something... it's just more smoke and disinformation :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Figured that.

After I saw that guy planning to do a PF campaign with AD&D modules I have to jump his train - guess I will also offer something like that.

VC - Sydney, Australia

The more wild and crazy stories and rumours and eye witnesses to conflicting stories there are, all whom are apparently telling the truth, well the harder Aramais disappearance becomes to solve. We can also say (without a word of a lie) that we saw him re-entering the tournament with his squire; the fact the reason we saw him was because it was an illusion we made is beside the point :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

tricky vicky, eh?

By the way I've chosen Alternate Energy Channeling (Strength) So now our already ridiculously strong party can now have the power of Gorum rushing through our bulging muscles.

oh and it helps the goblin and elf too.

Grabbed Power Attack as a feat cuz why not and now have 2nd level spells.

The most important thing to remember about our healing is that we need to kill monsters really fast so that we do not have to heal.

We can heal?

1 hp every day, more if you have high levels and constitution.

So when were we planning on investing on a wand of cure light wounds again?

Locked and loaded!

Tonight I will work out the final details on my sheet (finish equipment to the last copper, etc). Any last-minute advice?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Watch out for the women in this group, they are dangerous. Oh, and just so you know, your Charisma is the lowest in the group by like 5 or 6 points.

Alright ZZ, core cleric is done. I'll put in his description later when the group has a chance to breathe and relax.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

okay! Maybe you stumble into the scene once the spiders are all reduced to jelly.

That will be about the time when Salfon has some kind of terrible accident...quite a shame, he's been part of the group since the duergar fortress :(

Tirion Jörðhár wrote:

I was actually leaving it as a 13 (and a 10 Wisdom) but after I wrote down the character's background it made a lot of sense for him to driven and have a strong willpower, but not good people skills. It might be a good chance of pace from the bards/oracles I generally play :)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Well, this is the personality you are dealing with in the party:

Harry: Cha 16 <-- our lowest
Alana: Cha 17
Celestra: Cha 17
Karlan: Cha 17
Ailetha: Cha 20

You can see why we are popular with the locals. Lol.

Anything works. I am really unfamiliar with Magus, so I do not have a lot of input on your character as far as strengths/weaknesses go.

BUUUUT Harry has the Charming trait, so gets a +1 'with the chicks'; then again it says anyone that could be sexually attracted, so guess its with about 10-25% of the guys too depending on what stats you read :p

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I think you got a double bonus for both the Heavy and the Handsome with Aldern.

I think Aldern most definitely had a thing for shirtless harry and his two handed wooden club.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

You sure it was the wooden club Aldern wanted?

He wanted Harrys CMB to overcome his CMD.

Male Orc Expert 5

He wanted harry to get him the way all rogues like it.
