Bullets of light

Gunslinger Discussion: Round 2

Can you cast light on Bullets and then shoot them?

It would not do anything but at least it would look cool

I don't see why not.

Thanks for the quick reply

Magical tracer rounds.

It could also help your non-darkvision buddies find the target in the dark. Sure they wouldn't illuminate at full radius, but there would be a glow coming from the wound area, like shining a pencil torch through your finger. I think we may have a new alchemical round idea here.

Doing this with all the ammo in a blunderbuss would be awesome.

You better do this on the feather part of an arrow, which will stick out of a target.... casting light on a bullet only for it to embed itself in the target's belly fat isn't all that useful. It would light the way for inexperienced clerics though... "Heal the hole that's shining light..."

:)

PS: oh yeah, do we have ruling on post gunshot infections yet? a new disease entry perhaps? :) :) :) I'll take disease-inducing bullets anytime above a Touch AC bullet! :P

huh, hollow points filled with mummy dust anyone?

Absolutely. But you couldn't do it.

You can only have one light spell active at any one time. If you cast this spell while another casting is still in effect, the previous casting is dispelled.

Now, if you cast every light with a permanency...

Uuuhh, Oh man. And you thought getting shot with a regular hollow point was bad enough.

Bad enough that it just blew an 8 inch hole in your back, PS: Now make a Fort Save so you aren't reduced to ashes [eventually].

This would probably only be able to do with Alchemical Cartridges... Oh man... the possibilities.

Or even as an alchemist discovery,

Alchemical rounds, use bomb effects and damage on specially prepared rounds for a firearm. If used with a scatter weapon it can use either range type as it is fired,it'd drop the range but a 15ft cone of some of those effects is nothing to laugh about.

Don't think this would work since mummy dust is a poison and you can't poison bullets.

is there actual rules preventing poisoning bullets, if not i love the idea of poisoned bullets.

Yeah in the firearms section of the PDF it specifically states that you can't poison firearms.

Now I could see an alchemical cartridge that could be poisoned -- but considering it's breaking the rules hard on this subject I imagine it would be very expensive.

But poisoning a bullet wouldn't be poisoning a FIREARM... unless it also specifically says "or ammunition" or something along that line...

Actual line from playtest document:

"Firearm ammunition cannot be treated with poison."

Alas. Nipped in the bud.

Alas, reading the rules tends to do that.

Eh, it's a play test, the rules are subject to change. But I was never saying the poisoning of bullets was a good idea.
