lisamarlene, what are you doing up at this unholy hour? Go to sleep!

~sighs~ Yes, the night shift does some weird things to you. ~puts my scales back on~

Not me. I do weird things to the night shift.

Trick-or-treating in my neighborhood is excellent. It's a bit of a hike up and down the hill and the houses are spaced pretty far apart, and only about a third of them have their lights on, so you'd think it wouldn't be worth the bother.

But the people who *do* have their lights on are mostly retired people who've lived here for decades, or recent immigrants/homeowners really excited about celebrating holidays in their new home, so both camps tend to go all out. And if you show up at their door, and remember your manners, you will be rewarded with *handfuls* of loot because no one wants the depression of a bucketful of leftover give-out candy the next morning. It means no one wanted to come to your house and you're going to die alone, your face half-chewed by your cats before someone finds you.

Or maybe that's just my brain.

see, this is why you just took Christina Hendricks place.
I'll take Ms. Hendricks off your hands. That's just how nice a guy I am.

In FaWtLQuest, I want to be like Elminster in BG1 and 2, occasionally wandering around and giving not-very-cryptic clues to the hapless adventurers.

*ahem*

"Wandering ho, stay thy course!"

Psst! "Ho, wanderer!"

Whoops.

WTF.

I just got emails from JoAnn fabrics AND Michael's crafts about Christmas sales.
Halloween isn't even OVER yet. Lights are still on in my neighborhood.
And I've got fresh emails in my inbox about artificial Christmas tree sales.
Someone needs to die slowly, bound to a Yule Log, and roasted.
Sprinkled liberally with pumpkin spice.
While being violated by a yule goat.

If it helps, we started putting out Christmas stuff on August 28th.

Also, you know Final FAWTLquest is going to end up with everyone forgetting the plot because the heroes got distracted by a sidequest.

Heck, that probably should be the plot. The world is ending, ooh pretzels.

Crucifying Quina to the roof like a corpse on a Reaver ship hull was a nice touch.

So the list thus far for FAWTL Fantasy:

Heroes:
Tacs - Blue Mage or Paladin
Freehold - undecided
CH - healer

NPCs
None yet

Villains:
Scint - Lady of Sinister Light
Orthos - immortal recurring henchman
Sharoth - greedy dragon
Syrus - master assassin
Cap - not a "redemption equals death" guy
Gran Rey - owlbear rancher

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I didn't want to be a villain per se, just that if I was going to be a villain I'd want to commit.

I'll perform NPC duties, if needs be. Failing that, I can do a good Hapless Rogue, or Droopy Dragoon.

Speaking of, there is a house, like, three down from my culdesac who has (some few) Christmas lights up all year long - the ones further out in their yard. Daggum, but do I love that. Makes everything nicer.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

We had a really nice evening last night: Impus Major had a bunch of his friends come over, they watched 'Alien', I treated them to pizza, then all of them except the depressed one went off to go trick-or-treating. He stuck around and we all watched 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' (a Halloween tradition).

It wasn't until this morning when I started thinking about putting away the Halloween stuff that I came to the realization that BOTH kids made us get them creepy Halloween costumes, then NEITHER of them went out AT ALL.

So THAT was a waste of time and money; especially my trip to the Halloween store yesterday.

I don't know whether to be irritated or amused. Probably irritated. Now I have to deal with returning an item for which I paid expedited shipping that showed up broken so badly it was unusable. It's easy to get the item refunded, but if I pay $20 to get it by Halloween and it shows up smashed to pieces so I can't use it on Halloween, it's a big, "No, I'm not paying that" moment for me.

(It was a fragile plastic mask and they shipped it in a plastic bag wrapped around a thin cardboard box with no lid. There was no way it was going to survive being shipped like that.)

I honestly don't know what would happen in that case. I almost smashed a dark crystal display once because I didn't know what it was at first and then I recognized it and I freaked out. I have tried to expose myself to the characters before to increase my tolerance. But I think of I saw a life sized one, I would go into fight or flight mode.

I sat that because mirager was the first limit break i got and it blew my mind.

I'll be a creepy evil NPC...helping the heroes along for reasons they do not understand and they have no idea why an evil dragon would help them in any way.

Dibs on a random unimportant NPC!

Though having a dragon as a random unimportant NPC... Sounds like I should use that one day in a campaign.

"A dragon!"
"Oh, don't mind 'im, he's no one of consequence..."

Wouldn't that be perfect for putting you in distress, though?

32. Never been tied to a car top, but I remember a fair number of trips in an open pickup bed or trailer down the country highways at 60+.

Kinda have to adapt there, most cars nowadays don't have antennas.

I thought Ruins Of Azlant might be a bit more interesting than it is.

It's all good and all, I'm not complaining, just an observation.

Edit: It might also be that as I'm reading it I'm making Zap Branigan as a SFS legal Human Envoy or reading about the doomed planet Ferran-4 and it's dominant species, radioactive pinball dwarves (AKA Ferrans).

NPC wise, I can do:

1) Garrulous innkeeper.
2) Cheeky yet adorable urchin
3) Cannon fodder, either town guards or mooky hordes belonging to the villain(s).
4) Saucy wench, possibly with a heart of gold, possibly who is secretly vamplire succlublus luring men to their doom.
5) Sinister midget, with a bucket and a mop.
6) Smelly half-ogre jailor
7) Crazed alchemist.
8) Panicked yokel.

Just roll a d8 and pick whichever one is most/least relevant.
