Yep. It finally happened.

After CVS robodialed me for two solid weeks about refilling a prescription for which I did not need a refill, I blocked their number. Peace at last!

Last week GothBard ordered a refill from them without telling me.

So of course we never got the notification and she finally realized this morning that it was probably because the number was blocked.

Hey, CVS! Maybe, just maybe, letting people OPT OUT OF ROBOCALLS ABOUT REFILLS might make them use you more often?

(I'm still trying to get GothBard to switch ALL her refills to our mail-order place, which never calls us, sends ONE refill notice per prescription, and lets us check our order status online. What a concept!)

After "complaining" about yesterday's 36° F morning, the day ended up being a sunny and beautiful 66° F day with a light breeze, and this morning it's 47° F and downright pleasant.

I know the universe is trying to lull me into a false sense of complacency so I turn off the living room heat and it hits me with a 28° F cold snap...

So Aiymi and my computers are old and crapping out on us. Hers will shutdown from the graphics card overheating without running anything more intensive than Excel. Mine will do that if I try to play Star Wars MMO or LOTRO or anything along those lines. Pathfinder: Kingmaker is working fine though. Fantastic. Oh, but you say the hard drive is closing in on 8 years old? Yeah...that's going to go soon.

So we've decided it's time to get new computers. Being me, I like to buy all the parts separately and build it myself.

I was down to just the video card to go. Amazon had an acceptable one for $329, while Newegg had the exact same one for $369. The difference being that the Amazon one wasn't in stock, but stated they had more coming on March 10, and I should expect delivery by March 14. Ok, I can wait and save the $80. Fine. In the meantime, Newegg jacked up the price on their card to $413. Today I got the notice that my order has been cancelled because they're not getting it back in stock.

I hate looking for video cards. This is still spot on and written 11 years ago.

Are you back to LOTRO? Which server?

I am sitting on Laurelin exclusively at the moment, too many high level characters forming a self-support group to the rest of my low level (both of them) characters to bother with visiting my much lower level characters on Landy or Whity.

Random observation:

A bit over a year ago I mentioned here about a LOTRO update that added Northern Mirkwood (I found that note when I was checking if I missed Vany mentioning which LOTRO server he play{ed}). Since that time we got another new region. Next region is supposed to be added later this year. So it's still going... Maybe not strong, but still going.

I'm not sure which server I'm on at this point. I couldn't get past the splash screen without my PC shutting itself off. I was just doing it to test - last I played LOTRO I wasn't happy with the changes to the trait tree formats. Wasn't long after Rohan was first released.

I don't doubt it, but caffeine alters you chemically while sugar just gives you energy. A lot of it, which is why we're so hardwired to love it.

And before someone makes a joke about caffeine jitters, you can't live on black coffee.

Cannabis is funny to me, in that it doesn't really cure my pain, it just makes it so I don't really care if I'm in pain. Pretty sure Opium is illegal in the states but Oxycodone isn't and I've been medicated on that for years.

It kills appetites real good in addition to pain management with the only slight side effect of basically being legal heroin and all the dangers that entails.

I've got multiple sources of chronic pain, mostly relating to a beating I took years ago, but I don't like talking about that much anymore.

Sorry to hear about your chronic pain issues Yuugasa, though I'm glad that you find some relief in your pain medication. Just promise me that you'll keep an eye out for alternatives if you start suffering to heavily from adverse (and side) effects okay?

I have a father who suffers from chronic pain too, due to multiple lower spinal injuries, and lets just say his time on pain meds have been very rocky, both the detriment of his own (and others) mental and physical health.

So, at the moment, I play FFXIV online.

PROS:
- Beautiful graphics
- Massively story-driven content
- Eternally on "easy" mode
- Because it's pay-to-play, very few griefers

CONS:
- So many cut scenes that you frequently feel like you're playing Dragon's Lair
- $15/month to play, which is really steep considering all the free-to-play games out there
- Eternally on "easy" mode
- Too many of the main storyline quests require that you do 4-person or 8-person instances, and if you don't have enough friends you'll usually be combined with a group of expert players just doing a quick run-through for some resources. So as you watch the cut scenes, they'll run ahead and finish everything off for you. We missed playing through most of the finale of Book 1 because the 4 people not in our group ran ahead and took care of everything while we watched the cinematics. So "win without fighting" mode
- Book 2 is a nightmarish grind written by idiots. There's a reason Square Enix lets you pay $25 to skip all of Book 2

It's fairly easy, expands on Lord Of The Rings lore in a rather nice way (though note I am no purist in that matter), has charming moments, though it is advisable to actually read the quests to enjoy them. It had excellent community, though the quality of the global chat dropped significantly in the last four or five years, with more politrolls and PvPers. People still tend to be helpful though.

PvP is purely optional in the form of players (Free People or Freeps) vs monster players (Creeps) in a dedicated zone. No possibility of a typical PvP otherwise, except for fully voluntary duels.
