I've decided on taking the research route, I have set up a meeting with the head of the Folklore department here at memorial University, I am also reading various ethnographies. I have also managed to create a brilliant magic item submission already. So my strategy is to use real world influences and convert them into game terms. Lets hope it's somewhat successful.
