~grumbles~ Sid Meyer's Beyond Earth will have to wait until I get a new computer before I can play it. The graphics are not rendering properly. ~sighs~ The joy of using an older computer.
Even though my system is fairly new I feel your pain... my video card has started to burn out and crashes the system on all those highly rendered games I like. I have lowered the graphics levels in all my games to compensate but I fear I am only delaying the inevitable need to buy a new computer.
It seems these things tend to die just after the warranty expires.

Today's Carrion Crown session was unintentionally hilarious.
We had like three critical hits (one of which almost killed an NPC while they were aiming to deal non-lethal damage) and six or seven critical fails, one of which actually turned out to be useful for the party.
I'll make the full recap when I can on the thread for it.

Did some Matt and discovered that on a 1:60 scale, a miniature of my Bēowulf would be exactly 1 inch tall (since he is exactly 5 feet in height, yeah he's small c: ) and a 10 meter giant (Ymir, father of giants, is 10 meters) is about 6.5 inches.
Grendel is 6.5 meters in height and if he were standing at his full height (which he rarely does, crouching more along the ground like gollum) he would make a 10.8 cm tall miniature.

I'm about ready to light my copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition on fire and throw it in the f%%!ing garbage. Currently on my third attempt at starting the game. The first time, I got just past the first part of the main quest, and all of a sudden, my character's head was invisible, and no amount of resetting the game could make it go back. So I started over, and everything was running smoothly until about 4 hours in, when I discovered that my save import hadn't worked. What the f%*! is going on?

Bioware being awful, that's what.

This is just kind of the worst possible time. For the first time over the last 10 days, I had a couple hours to relax and kick back, and then this b$@*@!&* happens. Free time 100% wasted.

Yikes. Never ran into invisible heads...

After 6 hours, I finally got a DA3 save import to work. It shouldn't be this hard to check and see if your import worked. To do so, you need to:
1. Import your save that you uploaded onto the Origin Systems website.
2. Make a character, then play through a 90-minute introduction.
3. Talk to 4 separate NPCs to see if your import went through.
Total time: about 2.5 hours. F#**ing b*!+@+~+.

The 360 port is absolute garbage in terms of bugs. The game was optimized for the Xbox One and PS4, and it really shows.

Encounter wonkiness in Skyrim is annoying, all of a sudden for no reason at all something just annihilates me, the worst is when the a%@@#&~ draugr swarm me, now that I've learned explosive runes it's not as bad still, grr!
Wait, explosive runes? That's a running gag in Order of the

Yes, this. I tried three times before I got my port to work on it, only to discover that their new graphics make me motion sick so I couldn't even play the game...I have much hate for DA:I. My husband doesn't even like the game, but he played it for a while so he could tell me what the story was. I was not impressed when I found out. That game was a huge disappointment all round,

Honestly, the gameplay itself doesn't seem too bad to me (once you get around the fact that every single button other than "start" does something different than in the previous two games, the controls are perfectly fine). The voice acting is stellar as usual, the design of the characters looks good, and there are some truly gorgeous vistas. And the soundtrack is f~~~ing phenomenal. So far the story seems decent enough too, right on par with the other two games in the series.
On the other hand, the in-game text is f~##ing TINY (see my earlier post), to the point that it gives me headaches if I read for too long. And the whole thing is absolutely riddled with bugs, which, while not game-breaking, are annoying as hell. So far, I've encountered some really weird ones, including the disappearing head bug, and one that makes all of the dialog play backwards, as well as more conventional ones that I pretty much expect from BioWare games (texture pop-in, framerate drops, etc).

I liked Skyrim, although I preferred Oblivion. Also, the last time I was playing through Skyrim I got about 10 hours in or so, and could suddenly no longer absorb dragon souls. Even loading an earlier save from when I could didn't help. I was pretty upset, so I put it aside and haven't gone back to it since.
Also, while I liked New Vegas, it was very frustrating for me. I don't know if it was just my old 360 being a dick or what, but load times (even just going through a door) were getting stupidly long and the system would occasionally crash during the load screens.

I see the reason they did what they did to Shep, but I would have liked to come out alive. Shep can survive if you have over 4000 points from war assets and choose destruction, but it's not as cool as synthesis

skyrim is a huge improvement over oblivion imo even if the game is still really, uh, unpolished. But then, that's Bethesda for you lol
I'd like to replay oblivion, but with skyrim's character models and mechanics, since the leveling system is horribly unbalanced and every character looks like a potato.

I liked Oblivion's leveling system. It's not perfect (what is, after all), but I felt it allowed greater customization. Also, I thought the story was more interesting than Skyrim's. Plus, I really liked being able to make custom spells and magic items at the magic school. And Skyrim always seemed too dark, it made it hard to see things.

I did not feel a dearth of customizability, but it might just be the way in which I play skyrim
my problem with oblivion levelling was the way in which monsters levelled with you was poorly handled. some monsters, after you were high enough level, could become completely overpowered when they shouldn't be.

Bethesda is always inconsistent with monster leveling, with Fallout actually being the most consistent and even still it gets wonky, especially those dick prismatic aliens, at least Fallout has Mininukes :-)

So I will need that much, thanks.
Control was the only moral choice... But this time through I will save before the end and try all four endings.

So... Saturday I finally had to 'fess up, as NobodysWife and Shiro's player bought me a nice bottle of rum as a gift and then wondered why I didn't drink any of it, so I made it... 77 days before anyone found out.
Needless to say, they're very supportive of my efforts now that they know about them.
And we had a nice little shake this morning -- a 4.1 quake centered a few miles from the house that just reminds you you're in earthquake country. Strong enough to make all the glasses rattle, just long enough to make you think, "Aw, carp! Am I going to have to get to shelter?" before it stopped.
And of course now I can look forward to every radio station full of idiots, er, non-locals, talking about how "terrifying" it was to have the ground shake for no reason.
Ah, well. Live anywhere long enough and you get jaded about its natural disasters.
Now, where is it that has Sharknados on a regular basis again?

(If you've never tried good rum over fresh-sliced mango before, DO IT!)

This probably sounds cruel to those who are actually terrified of earthquakes, but you have to live here to experience this. There are the "normal" people who say, "Yeah, woke me out of a sound sleep and scared the spit out of me," and then there are the people desperate for their 15 minutes of fame, so they go on and on and ON about how they thought the world was coming to an end, and they wept, and they prayed for their salvation, and they all converted to Pastafarianism, and on, and on, and on...
I can tolerate, "Yeah, it was really scary for me!"
I cannot tolerate, "Let me give you a 15-minute account of how terrifyingly life-altering this event was."
And of course, every radio station, no matter what the format, has to interview at least a dozen of the latter yahoos an hour for the next 3 days, forcing me to keep my radio off to avoid grinding my teeth into nubs...

Congats man, that is hard. How did you manage to keep it from your wife. My wife has this weird sixth sense about...well every thing.
Oh, it was pretty easy with my pattern of drinking. My body had already reached the point where having more than 1 drink after 5:00 pm affected my ability to get a decent night's sleep, so I rarely drank after 5. This meant that she'd go off to work, I'd have 3-4 drinks in quick succession, and spend the day pleasantly buzzed at work. By the time she got home at 6:30 or 7:00 pm, I'd be mostly, if not entirely, sober.
So the only thing she might have noticed was not having to buy me another 1.5-liter bottle of rum and 1.5-liter bottle of gin every month. But she doesn't enjoy shopping for groceries, so I'm sure she didn't pay attention to how much I was going through, nor how little I was going through once I'd stopped...

I was going to say the liquor levels would be a dead giveaway and my wife does our shopping and she pays attention and likes it.
I rarely drink during the work week as it affects my sleep pattern as well.
