captain yesterday wrote:Dear god, is nothing sacred? Now you're turning Angels into cakes?!Now i have a night of cleaning and cooking ahead if i want to have a nice house and something tasty to eat for my birthday, i'm making Lemon Angel Delight, which is what happens when you leave lemon pudding, angel food cake and two things of Cool Whip together without a chaperone :-D
edit: the recipe if anyone wants it:-)
1 big package (or two little) of Jello Cook and Serve lemon pudding
1 angel food cake (we make ours with a mix because they're cheap, but a pre-made angel food cake works just fine)
2 smaller containers of Cool Whip or 1 large one
A mold pan, or dish or whatever:-)Make the pudding according to its directions, tear up the angel food cake into a large bowl, add the Cool Whip then the pudding (you want it warm when you pour it in) mix it all up throw it in a mold or big f#$%ing bowl and let it set-up and try not to eat it yourself, seriously its that good:-)
edit 2: added the flavor of pudding, i also have a homemade lemon pudding recipe if you prefer that to store bought:-)
I experimented with that once. I couldn't get all the feathers out, though.

How did I miss a new Mastodon album coming out last year? I think I'm slipping in my old age.
You must wait at least 16 years before you can make noises about "old age".

I've seen better days. Writing is more or less stuck, I am still down with a flu (worried my boss will make mention of my week-long sick leave), family situation is still basically one step away from open war (and I suspect I will be dragged into it), and I managed to make a fool of myself to a friend, who doesn't trust me anymore. I might be able to make amends with my friend (he hasn't cut me off yet), the flu will pass eventually, but I don't know how the war between my dad and the rest of my family will turn out. And I need to get to writing now that I have the time and energy for it.
Blah. Sorry to hear that Icy. I hope things improve for you.

That's one of my gauges for sticking with a web comic. If the art improves, then I get the feeling that the creator is invested in the comic. It doesn't have to be awesome art, but it has to get better.

Impus Major is starting high school next week!
Isn't there a rule that you have to be at least 5'0", or weigh at least 100 pounds, before starting high school?
Nope. My son was under both those requirements when he was a freshman (he has since gotten taller and larger). Fortunately, he was "adopted" by some of the seniors in the marching band, which helped him avoid most of the not-so-awesome stuff that happens to smaller kids.
Oh, Impus Major is a force unto himself. I have *NEVER* seen such a self-assured kid.
Proud parent moment: I was chaperoning the choir trip and no one knew who the weird old guy was. But in a conversation a couple of rows over I heard Impus' name mentioned. A cute little pixie girl (I cannot think of a better description of her. She was charming!) piped up with, "Oh, my God! <Impus> is awesome! I love <Impus>!", at which point the group with her all said, "Yeah," and sighed dreamily.
I do not think he will be lacking for friends in high school...
...he makes everything about himself his own.
He does play Malek, after all...

I probably just missed it somewhere, but I really wonder how he got the nickname Impus Major.
(Beyond "don't want real names floating around the internet", obviously)
Oh, it's pretty simple. I don't like to disclose personal information on the intrawebs. Shiro's player has a massive home-built search server, and one time I dared him to search for me.
After two days, he had to admit, I had the smallest "web presence" of anyone he'd ever seen.
You wouldn't believe how hard it was to post that photo of myself for you guys.
Anyway, our gaming group always referred to the kids as "the imps". It just seemed appropriate for them. So when I had to distinguish between the two of them on the boards, it just seemed natural to go with "Impus Major" and "Impus Minor".
We ARE geeks after all. What would you name two imps?

Oh, don't get me started.
I didn't go on a single (formal) date throughout high school. My first kiss was at 19. And so on...
And along comes Impus Major, and the cutest, most popular girl in their social circle calls him over the summer to come over and hang out with her.
My mind boggles. He must get it from his mother.
----
And for those of you now dying to know what I mean by (formal) date, in high school I would invite girls I liked out to the movies, or dinner, or what-have-you. But they always considered it, "Hanging out with a friend." If I tried to call it a date, they refused, and called it, "Too weird."
Yep, I always got the, "I don't want to date you, you're too nice," line.

I know this isn't a serious question, but the only two Imps I've ever named anything were named Drishul and Tarot. ;)
Drishul is a drunken imp NPC in the World Serpent Inn on our NWN server. He's positioned in a corner surrounded by bottles and puddles.
Tarot is an imp who serves as a magical tutor and tempter to the main character in one of my stories. She robs libraries and haunts books in ghostly or animal form.
"You only have to show up as a mouse once," she elucidated, gesturing with a paw. "And no one is surprised to see you, simply upset. After that, you can show up as many times as you like as a cat, and everyone will be overjoyed at your presence."

I did surprisingly well with the ladies.
I could never really explain it either, might've been the rebel factor, the hair or the new guy thing (i moved to a new town 200 miles away right before 9th grade) whatever it was it worked:-)
This one guy even asked this one girl i knew how i always had cute girlfriends, she said she told him "because he's cool and isn't afraid to ask" that might be paraphrasing a bit, its been over 20 years:-)

i just noticed the symbols in the swearsy editor changes every time, of course now i'm going to swear in every f#%%ing post and hit refresh 10 times :-D
I was posting to a thread and politely waiting for someone else to finish his edits, and every time I refreshed all the obscenity symbols changed. Took me close to a minute to figure out he wasn't editing any more, but it was a real live obscenity filter on the site.
And here I just thought we were all really polite.

I seem to have better birthdays than Captain Yesterday.
(I bought the RotRL set myself in 2012, but the WotR was a 2014 birthday present, and the shelving was 2015. Who knew IKEA made a figure case what was exactly big enough to hold a Wiz Kids battle case?)

I've probably guessed him before, I'm not really the best at guessing games :-)
I'm sure the countless family game nights lousy with Guesstures, Balderdash and Pictionary when I was young had nothing to do with it :-)
Hey, at least his name wasn't Dick Pickle. Can you imagine all the lewd double-entendres?

On the subject of bad dates, it seems that several women took it upon themselves to take note of my existence at precisely the moment that I stopped having free time to do anything other than work and go to band practice. Now I've got to pick one (or, more likely, none, at least if I want to be able to pay my bills), and I don't know what to do. My life has suddenly turned into an issue of Archie Comics. I don't even like Archie Comics.
