OK, taking Jedi level 3

Jedi 3
BAB +1
Defenses +1
HP+: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Talent: Lightsaber talent tree--Block

Dammit! With the Con penalty, I don't gain ANYTHING!

I suppose that'll speed up combat though.

Anyone interested in shopping for a new DM? I was really excited about playing a Star Wars game...

Not at the moment no, I might change my mind though.. I've been known to do that.

Smerg just resigned from another SWSE game he was a player in, so I don't think he'll be coming back anytime soon.

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

I don't know; I keep toying with the idea of running a Star Wars game, but I'm not sure I have a good enough story for it.
And I want to play damn it!

First, lets see who all is still here.
Sound off!

Present.

OK, now are you all thinking of holding onto your characters, or making new ones?

Game Closed

Also present. I would be good with either sticking with the same characters, or rolling new ones.

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

OK, I got a story. Changing the timeframe to the Dark Wars (after the Star Forge is destroyed). Start at fourth level.

I see Vash, Kidd and Six. Do you want to recruit a couple more people?

Grand Lodge

I'm fine recruiting more or not. Either way.

How big of a time-frame shift is it? Long enough that it's implausible that we'd use the same characters?

As much as I like Kidd, I'd be fine rolling up someone new.. maybe a hard-core mercenary soldier to go along with Six?

Maybe i'll call him Seven. :)

I'd be fine either way.

Grand Lodge

Secondarily, if I stick with Kidd, you mind if I rebild him a bit? I'm always a bit annoyed with his lack of skills, and starting with his level of Scout would fix that... only requiring a bit of rebuilding on my part. Ya know.. at the loss of 6 or so hit points (which i'm fine with).

Also, what kind of adventure/campaign is it? (without giving away too much, of course)

I'm setting it at about 3954 BBY; I guess it's about four years after the start of Smerg's game.

Rebuilding your character is fine. If I ever use Kol again, he'll need retooling a bit as well.
When you generate your character you can use the Planned Generation method to get your ability scores.

The story will begin with "Heroes on the Run", with mysteries to solve.
Later, you can pretty much define what you'd like to do. Crimelords, Corporate sectors, Republic Intelligence will all be clamoring for your services. You won't be able to sign up with the Sith though.

Grand Lodge

Okay, I have two characters I can play here, both of which I think are made of complete awesomeness.

The first is sticking with Kidd. No surprises there, I mean other than the mysterious enigma that he is. :)

1) He's fun to play and already works in the group, though I got the vibe that Smerg was a little annoyed at his combat resilience (I don't think Smerg ever actually caused him but a few points of damage… ridiculously high UtF + block + deflect + evasion = one tough nut to crack).

2) The second one I just cooked up over the last couple of days - a Freeorin mercenary named Desh; deep down he's a bit of a freedom-fighter. I like the idea that he's a part of Six's old crew… maybe he has a numerical designation as well. :)

Basically he works as a primary tank (melee orientation) with strong heavy-ranged capabilities. Big physical defenses, big HP's, and big damage - both with his stolen lightsaber and his array of big, heavy guns.

story:
He was taken as a child (by either Mandalores or Sith) along with a few other Freeorin to be brainwashed and then trained as a test-round for a new type of bodyguard and shock troop. They would be trained along-side force-users to learn to fight with and against them, able to target and nullify the presence of opposing force-users in combat on top of normal shock-trooper training.

The program was a partial success. For Desh specifically, the physical conditioning and training went very well. The mental conditioning wasn't very effective. He was unable to sense or use the force. Furthermore, their efforts to break his mind and imprint a slave-master relationship failed, though he carries a lot of emotional scarring after the ordeal.

In the end, he and a few of his fellow test-subjects successfully killed their 'masters', making a bloody escape. Only a few survived the years to come. Some were hunted by their creators, some died in the bloody lives they ended up leading, and some simply went crazy because of their conditioning - meeting bloody ends.

Desh found himself getting connected to a group of black-ops style mercenaries, where his talents were realized. Now he works as a gun-for-hire, taking or turning down jobs as he wants.

You might drop a note in DM Barcas's starwars game if you feel like recruiting a couple of more people. Good players all, and I believe Barcas himself might enjoy the chance to play.

I'm stil around but am on the fence regarding Vash. Her planed progression was directly toward the darkside/sith side of the universe.

I might make a skymarshal maybee, a hand-to-hand force user, if I can remember where to find their talent tree..

Grand Lodge

Wasn't Barcas playing in this game as Zane?

I think this might be a good time to reboot characters if you want to. Glad you're sticking around, Sigz. I've enjoyed playing off Vash.

How would the skymarshall hand-to-hand force user work? Is it taking the Martial Combat feats and pushing Force Powers into Battle Strike?

Also, Camris, is Kol going to be out of the picture altogether, play a smaller role as an NPC, or run as a GMPC?

I'm a little burned out on the Star Wars games. I'm not sure why, but they don't move as quickly as my PF games. If you want to snatch any players (or even the setting) from my Agents of the Empire game, that's cool.

Grand Lodge

Are you still running that game?

Either way, my vote is that you have the spot if you want it. I'll understand if you don't, though.

I'm planning on finishing it after I return from Norway at the end of the month.

Grand Lodge

Camris, it's your call. You wanna hit up the players from Barcas's game to join in ours?

Might be fun to get some new blood in here. :)
Plus we at least know they're engaged in SAGA.

Game Closed

How many are in that game, minus Barcas? It sounds like a good idea, I'm just curious what the final group size would be.

Technically Sigz and I were already in the group and Smerg was our third. The only player not in this game as well was Kalderaan.

I'd be up for joining a new game with a new character. I sort of lost track over the last few months as I got ready for a big move and searched for a new job. Now I have the job and the move will be done in a week. However Doc sort of lost interest for me when we shifted into a more action oriented game from the initial espionage style. Doc's not much of a fighter type...

Grand Lodge

Heeeeeeeeeeey! It's Doc!

Though that does beg the question, 'what style of game will this be?'

So, I hate to be the random guy who just stopped by out of the blue (sounds like a bad roleplaying cliche gone terribly wrong) but are you still looking for player characters?

Yes, I believe we are but it's Camris's call.

Wardens of the Sky I think the name is, it's a force tradition wich I am trying to find atm but basicly they get traits that chanel the force into unarmed combat. I'll tell you where to look once I find them ;P

Male

Page 88 in the Jedi Academy Training Manual. I'll probably go Scout/Soldier rather than scoundrel/soldier... think think think...

Game Closed

I was thinking about modifying Six as a Scout/Soldier, instead of Scout/Scoundrel. He was a really good sniper, but that a bit specialized, so I'm thinking of revamping him to be more commando-style.

Any idea on what skills people will cover? Vash, are you still planning on going Comp and Mechanics?

If nobody else picks up piloting, I can probably work it into my build.

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

Kiddrik:
I like both your builds. And don’t worry about finding challenges for Kidd!
Any of the old crew can come in no problem.

Vash:
I don’t want to limit people from going darkside, trust me I’m going to force lightning a bunch of people when The Old Republic drops; but …The Sith are going to be prominent enemies here, and the whole game (Saga edition at least) is such that opposing them with darkside powers would be a gigantic pain in the ass for any player. (“Force lighting? She’s a Sith! Get her!”) But sometimes going the harder way can be fun too; just fair warning here.
Skymarshal… Do you mean Wardens of the Sky? It’s in the Jedi Academy book. A force based monk would be incredibly effective at infiltration…

Kiddrik:
I built Kol to be “The Pilot” with a side of Jedi Consular. An actual player character should take that slot, but if we don’t have enough player characters, I’ll dnpc him.

I’ll put a feeler out in DM Barcas’ Agents of the Empire game, see if they’re interested.
I’ll probably go for six players.

Doc:
As for style, I intend to pump up the action some, try for a little faster pace, while still doing investigative work. It’s going to be less of the pure espionage. Of course, what we end up with could be something completely different. You veterans know how it is.

Emptus:
We may already be full with players from our old games. If we need to recruit, I’ll post on the Gamer Connection board. Watch for it there!

We are de-leveling?

Sounds that way.

No problem. Doc just wasn't really built for combat. I'll see if I can come up with someone a little less niche. Let me ponder for a bit and I'll do up a build over the weekend.

Grand Lodge

So we're up to 4 players so far.

Sigz - looking at a Scout/Soldier

Eben - leaning towards a Soldier 3/Jedi 1 - brute front-liner w/ back-up ranged capabilities. Probably able to be a decent Mechanic if no one else wants it. (Can also fall back to using Kidd if we have no other force-users).

Lekku (Six) - re-tooling Six to be either a Scout/Soldier or pure Soldier - basically a strong ranged fighter, potentially our pilot.

James Martin - looking to build something new - TBD.

__

Is everyone looking to build characters with a generally mercenary outlook? Could be fun to do a military unit again. Possibly looking at having no force-users, which, again might be an interesting team idea.

Camris, would a no-force-user group be problematic? (Don't know that that'll be the case, but want to ask in case the team is interested in it)

And has anyone heard from Kalderran? (he's hte only other remaining player from that other game, right?)

Grand Lodge

One other question:

Does anyone know where i can pick up other SAGA .pdf's? I know the line is discontinued, but is there some vendor that still sells the .pdf's or something?

If not, does anyone have them that they'd be willing to send to me? I only hve the core SAGA book and the Knights of the Old Republic book.

No, I want to retire Vash'elie and go for a warden of the sky. FYI guys, it's a force tradition that has no central orginization and few members. Theyr focus is soleley to explore the space lanes and keep them free of dangers, so a pilot/hyperspace explorer is what I'm going for.

I'll probably make him a scout 2/soldier 2, Combat role; melee, Ship role; Pilot, Social Role; ?.

Grand Lodge

Out of curiosity, Warden of the Sky just has specific force talents?

Just to be ready when the time comes...

3d10 ⇒ (6, 5, 10) = 21

Game Closed

I am personally very interested in what non-combat skill players are focusing on. It looks like the former Vash will be taking Pilot - do we have a Computer savvy crew member for Astrogation? Could that be DMPC'd with an astromech droid?

With exVash focusing on Pilot, I will avoid training that, leaving Mechanics as my only viable non-combat option.

We can have overlap, I just thought I'd put it out there, if anyone might be debating between that and Use Computer or some of the Knowledge or Social skills.

I'm thinking about slightly re-working this character. He's a country bumpkin Jedi...

3d10 ⇒ (7, 6, 5) = 18

Well, let's not worry about covering all the skill bases until we know who all the players are.

I still have a skill rank that's un-allocated, too.

James/Jerrn, your stats don't seem to fit what Camris requested... 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. Just a heads up.

Fun concept, though.

EDIT: wait..he said planned generation method.. not static array. I have to look back at my own now...

Nope, I have some updating to do.

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

Sorry, I meant FIFTH level. And you can use the Planned Generation method for stats (aka point buy).

You should have at least one Force user, but it looks like that won't be a problem.

So far:

Sigz - looking at a scout 2/soldier 2, Warden of the Sky-Combat role; melee, Ship role; Pilot, Social Role; ?.

Eben as Desh, Soldier 3/Jedi 1 - brute front-liner w/ back-up ranged capabilities. Probably able to be a decent Mechanic if no one else wants it. (Can also fall back to using Kidd if we have no other force-users).

Lekku as Six, a Scout/Soldier or pure Soldier - basically a strong ranged fighter, potentially our pilot.

James Martin as Jerrn Darklighter, country bumpkin Jedi.

Have I missed someone?

5th level, here I come!

Looks like we have 3 pilots. Camris, would you be okay with us having a few small ships (fighters) instead of one big one? :)

I'm fine either way (ya know, not being a pilot), but it might be fun.

Kol DyThrand wrote:

Barcas declined. That guy up-thread raised his hand, but you indicated that if we didn't have 6 you wanted to open a new thread for recruitment.

That just leaves Kaldaraan (the only player from Barcas's game that hasn't weighed in after your invitation over there)

Also, I'll just be posting as Desh from here on out... i really like his concept. :)

Thanks for the invitation but I have too much on my plate at the moment.

Good luck to you all!

There ya go... we got 4 folk, and Emptus raised his hand.

Sounds like if you want 6 we'll be doing a Recruitment thread either way.

I say we at least let Emptus in, since he did go out of his way to find us. That shows commitment.

I'm fine with that if Camris is happy with that.
