Strangest thing I ever put on a pizza was a sliced up banana. It was actually pretty good, but looked extremely unappetizing. (I wouldn't have found out about the taste, except I wasn't going to waste a pizza - my experiment, I'll take the consequences!) If you try it, I suggest putting the banana on after the pizza is cooked.
I got a pizza with jalepenos once by accident. Rather than call back and complain, I just shrugged and ate it. Actually tasted pretty good... but I'll never do it again! The aftereffects were... unpleasant.

Ah playing D&D during the 80s.... Good times....
In high school, my gaming group had a jealous ex-girlfrined report us to the school counselor. Unfortunately, she didn't think her brilliant plan all the way through....
Three of us had mothers who were teachers. In a small town of 6000. We were on a first name basis with all the teachers in the school system. We were all good kids, and all the teachers knew it.
From what I heard, the ex-GF got damn near laughed out of the counselor's office.

Ahhhh... Sorry for the tangents folks. Pathfinder tie in...Hmmmm... So I wonder if Rammstein is going to tour in Cheliax. I heard that they had an interesting pizza ritual called pizza Roulette that was popular with the Hellknights. Sounds quite interesting and something I will have to try myself. Cough... Cough... Wink

We need to get you somewhere safe. Sit here a second and watch Liederkranz and Guildenstern Are Dead while I make a call.

Do I think homosexuality is a sin? Sure... And practicing faiths other than Christianity.
This statement is just patently offensive, and makes me want to bang my head against the wall. The problem I have always had with organized religions are that so many of them claim to be the only way, and point to the others as being wrong. I've just never been able to wrap my mind around that fact that salvation depends on where you grew up or what you were exposed to.
I don't think God is going to change his stance on things because some humans passed some laws.
This is just silly. Similar to my above comment, there are so many religions that differ so vastly on what the Bible says, much less what God is, or whether he exists, and what his nature is like, much less what the hell is stance on things might be. For anyone to presume to know the mind of an all powerful omnipotent diety is both arrogant and ridiculous.
Sorry, couldn't help myself folks. To lighten things up, I suggest anyone interested check out Belief O' Matic. You may be surprised to find out that what you believe is not the religion you follow. Which reminds me of a good quote. "True religion is the life we lead, not the creed we profess."

Chris, your response was awesome. Thank you very much for that. The only other thing I'd like to add is that people always forget the pop-psyche "behavioral experts" that also demonized D&D during this time period, without ever citing any religious basis for their claims.

I live on the wrong continent. Europe gets all the good festivals. I'm just fortunate that Scion A/V is kind enough to grace a free RSVP metal fest in Columbus @ March 13th. \m/

I was "condemned to hell" long before I started playing D&d. I started playing 'Magic the gathering' back about 96, and after some friends and I tried to hold a tournament here in town the religious group freaked the f*** out.
As I see it, playing pathfinder isn't "salvation" these kinds of people. It's just another game not as mainstream as D&d (yet anyhow) so they haven't gotten around to attacking it yet. As far as the main question:
Now that I'm thinking about it, do any of you feel any holier now that you play pathfinder?
Nope. The only thing I feel is another book in my bag.
As as for trying to convert everyone we come across?? What would you do if you believed in something that could not only help people but save their very souls. What good is it claiming to believe in something that benefits all mankind and claiming to love humanity and then selfishly keeping it to yourself. Would you do that?
Not everyone wants to be "saved" you know. If you try to force your belief upon others, it can only end badly.
Organized religion is the root of alot of modern problems IMO. A removal of emphasis on organized religion and a refocus on spiritualism would do the world alot of good. That's not to say that everybody who follows a large religion is bad, but i have seen enough of them that are to sour me on the whole prospect.
Gotta agree with you here.
and let's all agree that Mazes & Monsters should be required viewing for all gamers, if only because it's such a good bad movie.
I never saw the movie but I read the book, and it made me depressed how it focused the blame on gaming rather than mental instability.
I'm afraid I can't post anymore on the topic at the risk of getting sucked into a religious/political discussion.

Couple of points.
First off, I'm an evangelical. The whole point of a group called "evangelicals" is that they believe in, well, evangelizing. Saying that Christians shouldn't share their faith, or (worse) that they should accept other faiths as equally legitimate, is basically telling them that they should ignore fundemental tenets of their faith! It would be like me saying, "Sure, you can be a Bhuddist, just drop that whole enlightenment thing."
Do I think homosexuality is a sin? Sure... but then I also think any kind of sex outside of holy matrimony is a sin. As is stealing. And lying. And practicing faiths other than Christianity. Amazingly, I have friends who do all of these things. In fact, of everyone in my gaming group, the gay pagan gets along with me best because I give him the least crap. I don't hide my views - I just don't beat people over the head with them, and practice a philosophy of "love the sinner, hate the sin."
Further, I support legalizing gay marriage. I don't believe in divorce except in cases of adultery, and I don't believe in divorcees remarrying, but that's legal. I don't think God is going to change his stance on things because some humans passed some laws. In the meantime, those laws give certain legal benefits to married couples, and so it does discriminate to disallow people to marry. It's separation of church and state. (Ideally, the concept of marriage itself should not exist as a legal format in my book. Even straight people, or any group of people, should have civil unions, which have nothing to do with romance and act more like personal mini-corporations. But I'm not a policymaker, and it would be hard to overturn centuries of law on marriage just to divorce, if you'll pardon the pun, religious implications from legal ones.)
I do believe in evolution. I opposed it for a while for the scientific flaws it held (many atheists hold views on it as strongly as religious people do, and the science aspect of it has been hurt as a result) bt I never saw...
I'm not evangelical, but I agree with this post.
I think marriage has NO place in government. All standing "legal" marriages should be declared civil unions in the eyes of the law. Marriage is a religious institution and has no place in law. Then civil unions should be made available to all, regardless of gender.
Then civil unions would be equal for all and everyone could get married in the faith of their choosing without government having any say in marriage at all. If a Christan church wants to say they support heterosexual marriage only? Well that's their business, but it's not their business to say any other faith is obligated to do so. Evangelicals (and others) would still be morally obligated to protest (if their faith declares it) but those of faiths that don't oppose it, and those who are atheists and don't care about it, could practice as they see fit.
Marriage is a religious rite of the church.
Civil union is exactly what it sounds like. A legal union of the court house.
We need to get marriages out of the court house. It's that simple.

The problem I have always had with organized religions are that so many of them claim to be the only way, and point to the others as being wrong.
Pretty much all belief systems are, to a degree, exclusive, whether organized or not. For example: "All belief systems except those which exclude others are correct."
I'm not trying to pick a fight - I'm simply pointing out that any belief necessarily excludes those things which run contrary to that belief. You cannot logically believe things that are mutually exclusive.
I realize that religion can be a touchy topic, especially comparing beliefs. You can go about it the right way or the wrong way, and sadly, many people, on both sides, choose the wrong way. But if I treat people with respect, and don't interfere with the choices they make for themselves in life, does it matter what I believe about those choices? Does simply stating those beliefs suddenly make me offensive? And if I must hold my tongue on my beliefs, so as to avoid offense, where do you draw the line? Can I say my banana and pepperoni pizza tastes good, or that I found LillithThrall's Onion link hilarious, or would that be offensive to people who dislike pizza and found the link unfunny?

No. It hasn't. I'm not going to get into the religious thing here, since it's just inflammatory and doesn't solve any problems, but I can factually state to you that the over-the-top personal views of people like Richard Dawkins, etc. have not in any way harmed the observed scientific validity of the theories that constitute the concept of evolution.

Did I mention semi-undressed women everywhere???

Then you'd better go to Washington, DC and start tearing down every religious reference to God on the monuments and buildings down there. And have you looked at your money? It says....drum roll......in God We Trust.
Which is hilarious, because a dollar is worth less everyday.
EDIT:

Your'e defending your right to say something others find offensive, but you criticize them for taking offense? Dude, this is getting silly. Can we just agree to disagree?
