In all fairness that is a cut and paste quote from Wikipedia.... Therefore part of the question and not a Godwin. Godwin's law requires a comparison (of an idea, person, philosophy and so on) to Mr A Hitler and his bunch of goons, not a mention of said monsters in historical or philosophical context.

But really, I'm not here to invalidate your point. I'm just here to point out that you made the reference. Godwin's Law has nothing to do with the validity of the reference, only the probability of it occurring.

Germany has a pretty bad history of "sects" (accuse me of godwining if you want)

It's OK, references to Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation don't invoke Godwin's Law. :)

May I suggest that whenever one of us GODWINS a thread, we report it here? We could even turn it into a sort of leaderboard for who has Godwinned the most threads first. Threads in which YOU invoked the Nazis, etc. don't count. No getting around that with sockpuppetry, either.

Allowing this thread to remain unlocked in Pathfinder General Discussion is something only a Nazi could do. It's like slavery and the persecution of Native Americans and the Spanish Inquisition and the Salem Witch Trials and Stalin's pogroms and the Rape of Nanking and Rwanda and Christians being thrown to the lions in the Coliseum all rolled up into one.
