Bren finally connects with the bear, perhaps becoming inured to the roar.

The bear shifts, following Catriana and the others, and lashes out in a frenzy, hitting Yomi -19hp

Eglantine, Catriana, Yomi

F Half Elf Bard 4

Catriana sends an Eldritch Blast against the remaining satyr, but misses once more.

Eldritch Blast vs. Ref. - S5 (1d20+7=11, 1d10+5=15)

Female human Rogue 5

Continuing to concentrate on the satyrs, Eglantine throws her dagger again.

"Get back all of you! The bear won't stop fighting. He can't once he starts."

Satyr 5 ... (1d20 10=25, 1d4 6=8)

Yomi bleeds . . . Needs a death save, if my math is right

The remaining satyr, seeming barely on his feet, skips around to Cyrus yelling, "Yah -- the priest is dead!" and jabs at the wizard. -7hp

Cyrus, Bren

F Half Elf Bard 4

"Cyrus ! Over here !" Catriana signals Cyrus to get behind her in the small alley.

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)

Frustrated that he could not save Yomi, Bren continues to hack away at the bear.

Standard Action : Basic Attack , with mark (1d20+9=26 vs AC, damage 1d12+5=15)

1d20=13

-11 hp, by my count.

Male Human Wizard / 5

shift to E19 and recast Illusory Ambush on s5.
1d20+5=24 vs s5 Will
Nice, 1d6+7=13 psychic damage and -2 to attack rolls until the end of my next turn.

Shift to where, now? I have you in K19.

Male Human Wizard / 5

the map on your page has different column header lettering (AU thru Y), I think that's the confusion, Cyrus shifts to the east one square, L19 or E19 depending on how you number the map.

Mea culpa

The last satyr crumples to the ground, falling under the arms of enemies only he can see. Meanwhile, Bren lands a solid blow on Redcoat, now bloodied. The bear mumbles, "You people are too dangerous," and withdraws, loping toward the forest (and, incidentally, the mill).

That's a shift and a run.

Eglantine, Catriana, Yomi

F Half Elf Bard 4

Catriana runs after the bear, calling him to stop. "Redcoat ! Stop ! Let us end this with peace as friends and not by combat !".

Diplomacy (1d20+13=18)
I didn't know which kind of combat action is the diplomacy check. If this roll is not high enough, can Catriana try again on this round ? At any case, she'll try to run after the bear, while keeping a small distance between them.

Yomi's stable at negative eleven (-11) hp.

Female human Rogue 5

"Redcoat, please listen to Catriana. We have no quarrel with you."

Eglantine tries to help the bard.
Diplomacy check to help Catriana (1d20 4=18)

If that's a minor, she'll use her move to get down from the roof and her action to run a heal on Yomi to get him on his feet again.

Athletics to get off the roof (1d20 8=19)

Heal on Yomi (1d20 1=20)

"Come on, pull yourself together. It's only a flesh wound." Eglantine bites her lip, realising how stupid that might sound. "OK, a deep and damaging flesh wound."

Is Redcoat heading in the direction of the mill?

Yes.

I believe Yomi already used his Second Wind, which means all Eglantine can do is stabilize him. He can still heal up if you take a brief rest.

The bear keeps galloping in the direction of the mill, not answering the women.

Talking is free, but reasonably once/round for something like Diplomacy -- call it a minor. The bear is ignoring you and outpacing you (double moving at 8+2).

Female human Rogue 5

"Catriana! Yomi can't move yet, unless you can heal him. We need to watch where Redcoat goes and warn Elias to stay clear of him."

Realising the stricken cleric needs more help than she can provide, Eglantine sprints towards the mill, staying out of range of Redcoat.

Kick the door in roll.

Elias tries to kick down the door. "Umf!"

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elias realizes the door is probably beyond his strength -- but it looks easy enough to climb up to a window.

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Oh, I'll do that then.

Athletics 1d20+10=18

With a sigh, Elias gives up on the door and clambers to a window.

The window is shuttered, but that's not much of a barrier. Looking inside shows a well-appointed bed- and sitting-room, unoccupied.

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)

Bloodied war-axe in hand, Bren follows Eglantine's lead.

Male Human Wizard / 5

Cyrus takes off after the bear as well.

Spoiler:
Yep, looks like you've been abandoned on the street.

F Half Elf Bard 4

I can't really heal Yomi, I've used both my majestic words and don't have any other healing powers

Catriana sprints as well after Redcoat. As the bear runs faster than the party, she realizes they should stop it before it reaches Elias who would have no chance alone against it. For that reason, she keeps yelling at Redcoat to stop.

She'll keep running and yelling until they reach Elias or Redcoat stops, so I've added a few diplomacy rolls
Diplomacy (1d20+13=19)

More Diplomacy Checks (1d20+13=18, 1d20+13=20, 1d20+13=20, 1d20+13=23, 1d20+13=29)

Elias:

Spoiler:
As you cling to the outside of the building, you hear a great noise in the woods to the south, as of a large creature running through the underbrush toward you.

Elias Perception DC15:

Spoiler:
You hear voices shouting from the same direction

DC20 (same roll):
Spoiler:
The voices are those of your companions (well, most of them)

If the mill is 10 minutes' walk (12 squares/round), it's 1200 squares. That's 6 minutes for the bear running (20 squares/round), and 7.5 minutes for an unarmored human running (16 squares/round). The bear will get there some 15 rounds before you (leading by 240 squares, 1200', 400 yards, not quite in direct view through the woods), if nothing changes.

Redcoat continues to ignore entreaties for it to stop.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Yomi:

Spoiler:
After 5 minutes, you can spend surges. You wake up on a cot in a small cottage, with a worried-looking woman attempting to treat your wounds (warm compresses and such), and three children staring at you.

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

My Passive Perception is 21 - will that count as I'm not actively listening?

Elias wrote:

Yes. Passive perception/insight is probably the rule change I'm having the most trouble getting used to!

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Elias ceases his window climbing and is alert for the imminent arrival of his companions.

M Cat 4

"ROOWWWRRRR!!"

F Half Elf Bard 4

Redcoat starting to get away, Catriana keeps running after him while calling him to stop.

Any use to keep rolling ?

Are we at the mill yet?

Sovereign Court

Elias:

Spoiler:
You see an enormous bear with a bright red ruff barreling down the path to the mill. It does not seem to have noticed you or your cat. The calls of your companions are not far behind.

"Where am I?" Yomi asks of the woman.

The bear proceeds to take a running leap into the millpond and dive under the water, out of sight.

Yomi wrote:
"Where am I?" Yomi asks of the woman.

"Shh, you're safe. You helped save the village from those awful fey. You were badly wounded so I brought you in."

Yomi eventually gets out the story that his companions, after killing the satyrs, chased the bear north into the woods, leaving Yomi lying on the ground near death. This was about five minutes ago.

Everyone but Yomi <sigh> is now at the mill. The dead satyrs and their loot were left lying in the street. The pondwater is churning as if something large is moving in it.

Female human Rogue 5

Rushing headlong towards the pool, Eglantine pauses at the sight of Elias.

"Did you see a huge bear come this way?"

She looks around as the rest of the group thunders up. "Where is Yomi?"

Her eyes widen slightly as she realises the whole group have abandoned a companion in need. "We don't deserve to call ourselves companions at all if we can't look after one of our own. I'm going back for him. Right now."

Without a further word or backward glance, she returns the way she came, running fast.

M Elf Ranger (beastmaster) 4

Elias looks bewildered and then laughs "Of course, it's as simple as that!"

He runs over to the pond and prepares to dive in if anything of a portal-like nature emerges.

Male Human Fighter 5 (Great Weapon Fighter)

"Hold on, Elias!" shouts Bren, who is drenched in the blood of his enemies' and his own. "We're not ready yet!"

"I have to go." Yomi rises and prepares to leave. "Do you know where my companions went?"

"Up the forest trail. Are you sure you can go?"

"I must go. Thank you."

"Children, always love your mother. She is a kind woman."

With that, Yomi heads out to the forest trail.

Female human Rogue 5

At what point does Eglantine meet Yomi?

"Yomi! Apologies are worthless in this case, but please know that you were not entirely abandoned. There's a portal in the mill pond."

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7
Eglantine Prakseda wrote:

Midway, about 5 minutes after the bear jumped in the water.

F Half Elf Bard 4

"I don't think we should follow the bear yet. I suggest we split - two or three of us should stay and guard this water-portal, while the others should check the satyr corpses back at the village and talk to the Reeve."

After saying that, Catriana follows Eglantine and runs back to the village. There she will take a short rest, check the corpses, help bury them and then talk to the Reeve and Froderick.
