I spent heaps creating him (background, stats, equipment, etc...) as I usually do.
I was late for the session and the others had encountered an Ogre and his wolf pets. They had kept my Character at the back for the 2 rounds I missed and then I got there.
I moved him (forgetting about the Ogre's reach) and got hit for 17. Then I took a swing and hit the Ogre. Then the Ogre hit Amon (my Khopesh wielding Mulhurondi Fighter/Rogue) and Critted him for 28, killing him instantly (reducing him to below -10: he had his head chopped clean off according to my DM).
So I lasted 1 round maybe 2 (I'm not sure if the Ogre's attack was in the next round) and was there for all of 15 minutes before I spent the remainder of the session creating a new Character.
That is such bad such luck! Critical hits, the bane of characters, I introduced the Critical Hit cards from Paizo to try and limit the PC kills. I am currently running Rise of the Runelords, the amount of Ogres and Giants with *3 or *4 weapons is immense. The damage multiples in the deck are usually *2 with other effects.

Poor Fench Wolf almost lost his new elf character in my Tharkad game by fumbling a hit and pitching of a 150-foot high ramp right before the party gets to the dungeon entrance. Only the derring do of his mates saved him from becoming an elf pizza.

I almost lost Vykos in our first battle in Jal Dorak's Red Hand PbP. He dismounted off his Riding Horse and one of the Boss Baddies decided that Reaper (his Horse) would make a good pin cushion. So Reaper collapsed backwards on top of Vykos, crushing him and meaning that the Boss could reach over Reaper's Corpse and skewer him. I think he got to -7 before being stabilized. Reaper even survived after some Positive Energy Bursts from the Cleric hit the area.

Pat is starting a new PbP here: Homebrew Pathfinder Campaign Prospectus.
Hope you don't mind Pat.

I just noticed that Z-day is the most prolific modern PBP on the boards.
Cool. Thanks for posting guys!
That is because you made it the best Modern PBP on the boards, I had read a lot of them, but this is the only one I book marked and followed obsessively, like your own private stalker.

I forgot to mention I actually had a dream about this PBP on Sunday night, that will teach me to drink too much wine and eat cheese before bed.
I can't remember much, but I do remember you had one of the google maps of Vancouver up and it had lots of buildings circled, you explained that they were the locations of the nearest helicopter pads.
Weird huh?

Okay, that sounds like something I would really do.
Was it in person. Did I have yellow hair and two inch thick goggles?

Thankfully my wine soaked brain has washed that part away..... It did make me wish I had put some pilot skills on my character sheet.

HERE: Interesting, it's a remake.
If there was ever a Forgotten Realms movie, Jonathan Schaech would make an AWESOME Artemis Entreri.

Got to love the part with the door!
hmmm... familiar at all???
My friend just got this. I was looking at it, but with both Fallout 3 and FarCry 2 I got no time left on the Computer Game front to play it.
