I'm pretty sure I know as well, though I never played through these adventures before. But if it is who I think ... whoa! Should be fun!

Well I'm not going to spoil anything either, never played through these adventures before, but I have a good memory for lore, plus an adventure path I played though a few years back touched on this particular power late in the adventure path.
Spoilers for my guess at who we're dealing with:

Oh and just a bit of meta:
According to the story, our shadowy nemesis was literally erased from history. All thoughts, writings, knowledge, and pictures of [redacted] were literally stricken from the multiverse in an attempt to keep [redacted] from returning. That is why you don't find any mention of [redacted's] name anywhere. I have to walk a fine line, especially with y'all's quite impressive knowledge rolls. I had to give Justin something for that 37 he got, that's just crazy. But, even a 100 won't reveal [redacted's] name. It is just not available.

It was a pretty big sub plot of the entire 2nd Edition AD&D milieu.
Nice! I think I know OOC too :-)
EDIT: It turns out I thought it was someone else, He Who Shall Not Be Named was a major villain in a session I ran some time ago of 2ed adventures converted to 3.5, I never realized He Who Shall Not Be Named was erased for a time so thoroughly in 2ed Lore! Though I was more of a Ravenloft, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance guy during that time.

FYI, I will be packing and moving and then unpacking again over the next 35 - 40 days so if I have intermittent unexplained absences from the boards this is why.

Cool,
Meaning I don't have a clue. ;P
I mean, I played 1E & 2E, but wasn't so much into the lore back then. Unless it was something that really caught our fancy ans we actually looked up all the information we could find on it.
(Not as easy as it is now, darn the Pre-interwebs Dark Ages!) ;P
Example- both Dark Sun and Ravensloft caught the interest of some in my group, so I know a little more than nothing about them. :/ (I actually never wanted to play Ravensloft when younger, the idea of playing in a horror world actually frightened me! :) I wasn't into scary movies.) ;P
I didn't realize that a power being erased was part of the D&D lore. THIS should be,... fun. yeah sure. Fun. ;P
| Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
Ah yeah Dark Sun, I played a bit of that too and read most of the novels. I play in a Dark Sun game here on the Boards now and the more I play the more I realize I forgot more than I ever knew about the setting :-)

MY favorite was Forgotten realms, (Sorry, but I actually LIKE the crazy old wizard! So sue me!) ;P
And we played with some of that, but mostly we just played D&D, and rarely ever worried about what world we were in, or what country, or how we got from the Caves of Chaos to the desert for the Pyramid adventure. ;P
And I enjoyed that, but now that I'm older, (Notice I didn't say 'mature') I enjoy the world-building just as much as the adventures. :D

I fell in love with Planescape, but when it was coming out I was more into Vampire the Masquerade. This is actually my first effort in converting my love of Planescape into a game
A successful endeavor I would say!
I was a hardcore Vampire gamer and Storyteller. Still am here on the boards. :-)

Ravenloft was definitely my thing. I think I ran a 4-year campaign in college that started in the Forgotten Realms but ended up in Ravenloft for like 90% of the time. I still lurk on the Fraternity of Shadows site fairly frequently.
I still think what would have been cool is a Masque of the Red Death campaign but set a few hundred years earlier, like in 1500 during the Renaissance.

Sure! I run the game representing all 13 Clans. At the moment the group has seemed to have settled in a bit but I will put you on my mental list. Guy Humual (aka Karrin Kind) is at the top of the waitlist though the past few openings have been for Clans not to his liking :-)

That would work,
Int, skills, and an actual class for reasons of being so good at mixing things up & creation of potions etc?
And crazy good support as mentioned.
Makes sense,
No complaints from the Wiz! :)
(Had to edit myself, went off on a geek tangent there,... very cool things, but over the books, not the game.) :)

Sounds good. It would give him a reason for knowing stuff. I'll likely give him a lot of Knowledge skills too. Now I just have to figure out how to actually make an alchemist. Never done one before.
I'll be happy to try and help. In my copious spare time.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, I ALMOST said that one with a straight face! ;P
Seriously, I did recently make an alchemist for the first time, so I have a clue. I'm no powergamer, but I may be able to answer a few questions and help. :)
Firstly, you probably want to find an Archetype(s) that trade in some of the more common Alchemist ability (Bombs) for something that doesn't require HANDS. :)
Unless he can mix Alchemist brews inside that crystal skull of his? That would be different! ;)
I'll try to take a look and review the Archetypes (I went straight basic Alchemist) and offer ideas for your perusal. If you'd like?
Night all,...
| Ragadolf |
Coolio, Glad I get to help someone else for a change! :)
I'll go review all of the available archetypes again, (I really wanted to be the whole enchilada, so went with general Alchemist. There are a lot of good archetypes out there, but I didn't want to give up any of the base abilities) :)
Besides the damage-dealing archetypes, (There are several) Seems I recall a couple of more bookish-types, gave up bombs for more potions and such? I'll look.

Actually, you don't want an alchemist, you want an investigator.
Investigators get alchemical extracts like alchemists, but are more focused on cerebral activities in general. They don't get bombs or mutagens, but they get great skill bonuses.
Possible archetypes include empiricist, forensic physician, gravedigger,
You should use your first investigator talent to get the infusion alchemist discovery. That way, he can hand out his extracts.

That is an excellent suggestion, and much more fitting of the role I had envisioned for Memnon as a Swiss-army skill monkey for the party

That IS a good suggestion, as the only archetypes I can find that replace Bombs are to make the PC more focused on damage dealing. ;P

Lol,
Sorry, been so busy, that what little free time I have gotten Has been either family time or video game time. (I was on a no-video-game-playing busy schedule for almost 3 years, I was having withdrawals.) :)
Thanks for the reminder. IF this weekend allows, I should be able to get back to it (Another CYT musical, Hairspray, this weekend) If I recall I was almost done with the next chapter.
I actually needed the break, I needed to remember that while our adventures are awesome, it is from the point of view of one person, therefore not requiring a literal copy/paste of every entry we ever made. Allows me to stretch my 'artistic creativity' muscles a little more. ;)
No fear, the journal WILL continue! ;)
(Hopefully soon!) ;P
