I'm getting there slowly; Swift just needs some sort of backstory and probably some more kit. I'm going to be keeping her kitty form as a seperate account to save on confusion on whether people are dealing with a cat or a small humanoid ;)

Any advice from peoples is more than welcome, also Karrin needs to name her kitty so I can change the name on the 'nameless kitty' account - heh :D

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

humm how about...Mrs long whiskers,or cuttle kitty or trap detector.
nah really go with somethings planessy maybe hankanna,or seliss,or phalastess something like that unless ya want a cutsy name.my vote is for bunnykins or sunngle kitty
seems like she might like names like that

nice ideal haveing two profiles. and swift looks great.

So here is the (pretty well final) Ffethpaar. If I have missed anything, please let me know.

I hope he can keep the studded leather armour, but if it isn't appropriate... (sigh...)

Anyway a quick character study.

This is Ffethpaar, traveller, collector and fish afficionado.

He isn't really that much of a knowledge bunny unless it has to do with impressive items of great impressiveness (so he may well take Knowledge (arcana) at some point).

Despite his high armour class, he does not feel that combat is the best way through any situation and will always try to cajole, impress or intimidate his way through first. If fighting is necessary, he will use his athlitic skills to get him both into and out of trouble - again preferring ranged weapons (his sling) rather than running into the fray. However, if things get fray-ish he'll dive in there with the best of them.

If he is travelling any distance and there is a possibilty of decent fishing he will always be carrying his beloved fishing equipment with him - if fish are out of the question he will survive on those revolting ration bars (can you get them fish flavoured?).

He will purchase extra equipment as necessary when it becomes apparent where they are going and what they are doing.

He is always on the lookout for that Ultimate Artifact.

How about 'Allegro' it's a word that is used in some place called Urth (I think) which is so backward that it hasn't even discovered magic yet.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Oh and Ffethpaar may want to buy a chest and luck for all that gold.

also natural armor does not count for touch attacks.yours would be AC 11

one other note. sence you can heal by using a turning check you dont have to take CLW as your daily spell[you can always spontaneously cast it anyhow]
so I would pick another.
oh A wand of CLW would be within your price range.

Kit is a black cat right? I'm thinking of something like Blacky, Mocha, Char, or something unrelated like whiskers or Puddin. I'm sure a cleaver kitty cat could convince Karrin to giving her whatever name she preferred though.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

hey Kayos call her frisky had lol a cat named that once.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Dropping in on a quick break. Looking good all. I have a black cat named Eclipse ...always liked that name. I have a bunch of stuff starting up, I thought I would share a bit of flavor:

Important NPC contact: Melchion

Melchion is the proprieter of a small magic shop near Copper Court called Melchion's Magical Marketplace. It is a crowded shop with dusty glass cases, stacks of parchment, stuffed small creatures from distant planes, and groaning bookshelves of moldy forgotten tomes. Melchion is a wizened old sage, a mediocre wizard who made more money selling adventurers items than going out to find them himself. He deals in components, potions, scrolls, and exotic items. He is also a good place to start if you are looking for a specific magical item. He knows a lot of people in the trade, and magic item buying isn't as easy as strolling into WandMart and putting your gold down.

Melchion lives alone except for a large and odorous old cat named Cuddles, his familiar. Rumor has it that Melchion has a bound spirit that wards the place, but what self respecting knight of the post would try to rob that old beezer?

I will post a few more interesting NPCs that you will probably come into contact with later.

Human

Call the cat Felice? Sounds a little like feline and means happy, contented and joy spreading.

EDIT. Sorry to stick my nose into a thread I've got nothing to do with - Thrugnipp's my rl husband though, and I've been following along.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

What about shadow?

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

What about Shakira? In DC's 'Warlord' comic, Travis Morgan traveled with a small black cat wearing a spiked collar. Except when he was accompanyed by a beautiful black haired girl wearing a black fur bikini and slippers- and wearing a spiked collar. Or when his wife was around.

So this is where I would get my wand of Magic Stone from? Is he open today?

Also about this money, I am having difficulty spending it all Is it a case of use-it-or-lose-it or do we get to keep the change?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I am guessing magic stone be 750 gp have to do hard math but thats sounds right for a 1st level spell.

yep 1st level spell at 1st level caster is indeed 750 gp.Just go ahead and buy it man.

Hey Patrick I got a question.I have been messing around with alt familers.Taken pretty heavy from monte cooks book of experimental might.Would you feel ok with me using something like that with zigel?
I's not an issue if ya don't ,just though I would ask why not right.

*sulks* Nobody takes cats as familiars any more..

ya know I had thought about it then the whole male/female thing jumped to my mind and well that may be a whole diff level of role playing there.

Female "Normal Housecat" (honest!) Rogue 3

Decision made, I have however picked a lot of the suggested kitty names as aliases for her cat form, she's adopted other people in the past and has had several kitty names over the years!

I'm switching Karrin over to pathfinder rules, I'll drop the +1 LA, but I have some questions about skills. Maybe you could give me some rulings. I've added Karrin's comments to let you know how I see her.

"We Duskblades like to use our brains rather then brute force. I'm real agile and stuff but Torreen never taught me how to do cartwheels or anything . . . but he did show me how to jump and smash!"

This is a tough one, Duskblades have jump as a class skill but not tumble or balance, this has been amalgamated into one skill, should Karrin keep the new skill or loose it as a class skill?

"I'm a tiefling! Of course I'm good at lying!"

Technically bluff isn't a class skill but sense motive is, and Karrin had max ranks in this . . . despite the poor wisdom! Now that they're the same skill should Karrin keep this as a class skill (considering that it's one of the things tiefling are good at) or should it now be considered CC

"Father taught me all about god and everything . . ."

this is one of the things I don't like about the new system, you can't have a single rank in anything, I loved the idea that Karrin knew just enough to be dangerous. Now this becomes a class skill and if I select this skill Karrin will almost as knowledgeable as a priest herself. Hmmm, not much of a question as a comment I guess.

That's all for now I think . . .

Class Skills (2 + Int modifier]

*acrobates
*Climb

*Ride
*Spellcraft
*Swim.

so you would have 3 skills plus int mod thats 6 skills in all
Now keep in mind you are now 3rd level and get a -2 to wisdom not cha
going buy what you have your skills would be

Climb +9
acrobatics +9
Knowledge Religion[cs] ++7

I've come across a few problems converting stuff as well.

Eir went across just fine, she just lost some hit points and two weapon fighting - gained some skill ranks.

[EDIT]To add to this, I couldn't make her the fighter she was before because there's no swashbuckler class. And one of her feat trees is totally wonked up because of the skill changes. So I didn't even take it. It seems to me that with us sitting on Aplpha 1 we have very limited selections. According to the devnotes changes to the skill system are forthcoming. But it would probably be a few years before we see any alternate classes the likes of duskblade. So I guess we're just gonna have to take some hits for the game.[/EDIT]

I think the first would be to keep the skill, just because it is some of the class' flavor. The second I am kind of on the fence with. Sense motive and bluff are really two separate skill sets IMO, I dont like that merge. What do you all think? Thirdly, yeah, that is a good point on the little knowledge thing. Let me perculate it a bit. One thing about this game is that it will be under playtest conditions. If we run into something we don't like we should spin a thread off and get some feedback. When I did that on the Tiefling question I got a lot of good suggestions.

Seeker you are a whiz with all of this, and I think once again you are moving in the right direction. I think this is a good start, although Guy did want Karrin's Knol. relig. score a bit lower. Thanks for doing a lot of the legwork for me, it's a lifesaver.

Everyone already seems to be excited about playing with their characters, I am really happy about that. While my mechanics are rusty, I am ready to run a game. The ideas are flowing like Oceanus near the Fall of Roaring Griffons. I hope that we can help Pathfinder with the playtesting and have a lot of fun exploring the Great Wheel.

I have a few issues in that the new core classes are tweaked upwards a little bit. I think bringing in 3.5 classes is fine, but to tell the truth there are enough new mechanics that I think any imports will need a little facelift. Even with Eir I took some munchkin liberties with the Negotiator feat, which is a little more powerful with skill changes.....

thanks for the kind words. her skill is about as low as it will get right now+3 for trained +3INT MOD +1for cross skill=+7 shes smart it really pays off on Knowledge skills. I dont see any issues so far with makeing a dusk blade any 3.5 class i'd be happy to help with any issue anyone has.

*Escape Artist (Dex)
*Profession(Wis)
*Swim (Str)

ability's
1st Weapon Finesse[ as 3.5]
2nd Grace +1 [unchanged]
