LOL Kruelaid has me pegged. Honestly Thrugnipp, these rolls would only be used in extremis and only if something had occured to make you not post for a week. You can see by the pace of this game that dice rolling isn't a big issue. I'd rather chivvy your character along then have to come up with some weird excuse for you not to be participating.

Anyway, work calls, I have updated the groups. Post your intentions and I will return in about 11 hrs.

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

Patrick, I added the rolls requested on Greep's profile.

p.s. If you ever need to, just make whatever rolls you need for me- either dice or IC, whichever works.

p.p.s. If you use real dice, my rolling superstions (when i remember to use them) are:

-use a color appropriate die, and never roll only one if it came from a GW game (they're used to being in bunches)

-allow an individual die to rest between rolls (they get tired)

-if you really need a good roll, let your wife do it

-warm dice roll better (until they get tired), so hold them a bit before rolling (but nothing freaky)

Haha, I don't think my husband would let me near his dice, he rolls a lot better than I do!

Really, I have no worries about how you will use the rolls and I wasn't aware how common this was as a request. I was just trying to suggest a change that would actually keep the 'unknown' factor more unknown. So here are my rolls.

Ffethpaar has melee attacks (claw, claw, bite) and a sling and he usually carries three magic stones with him for the sling. So I will give you rolls and damage for each case. Assume he will be wearing his claws for the melee attacks.

Oh Pfarfegnugen ... it's out! scambles to download and peruse.

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Reading it all now...

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Now I am highly confused. It seems that I lose out in every skill that I had traning in. Am I reading this right?

With alpha 1 I could train in 5 skills (3 for lizardman and 2 for cleric) These were:

Acrobatics (+11) [+1 dex, +3 trained, +3 3rd level character, +4 racial]
Climb (+5) [+2 str, +1.5 trained, +1.5 3rd level character]
Diplomacy (+8) [+2 cha, +3 trained, +3 3rd level character]
Knowledge(religion)(+6) [+0 int, +3 trained, +3 3rd level character]
Perception (+6) [+3 wis, +1.5 trained, +1.5 3rd level character]

If I am reading the new stuff correctly, my five skills now translate to skill ranks. So, using the same skills, I get:

Acrobatics (+9) [+1 dex, +3 class, +1 rank, +4 racial]
Climb (+3) [+2 str, +1 rank]
Diplomacy (+6) [+2 cha, +3 class, +1 rank]
Knowledge(religion)(+4) [+0 int, +3 class, +1 rank]
Perception (+4) [+3 wis, +1 rank]

So it looks as if everybody loses 2 from the modifiers for every skill they chose. Please tell me I am wrong.

But the really confusing thing is that, in the sidebar, they say "Just pick your skills and you have as many ranks in them as you have levels" Which would keep thing exactly as they were but this is explicitly contradicted by the main text and Table 5-2 on page 37.

The Exchange

Female Human(ish) DM 1 / Housewife 1 / Zany RPer 3

You get more skill ranks at every level, so - if you don't want to diversify your skills at all your totals will still be the same.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I'm guessing the first 2 are lizardman skills so
Acrobatics (+11) [+1 dex, +3 class, +3 rank, +4 racial]
Climb (+6) [+2 str, +3 rank]
man rank bing 3 ya had 6 point and 2 skills so 3 ranks each

here ya have 6 ranks and 3 skills lets go 2 each but ya can change it

Diplomacy (+7) [+2 cha, +3 class, +2 rank]
Knowledge(religion)(+5) [+0 int, +3 class, +2 rank]
Perception (+5) [+3 wis, +2 rank]

one rank lower on them 3 not bad all in all and ya get 2 more ranks next level course ya can juggle em about a bit but its not to bad a loss i need to do zigels

so ya had
+11/+5/+8/+6/+6 vs +11/+6/+7/+5/+5 isn't that bad gods i wish they kill that 2 skill thing and make the min 4

No worries, I am trying to assimilate all of this new mechanics stuff, and I really wish all the playtesting and creap was over and I had the Pathfinder hardcover in my little monkey paw. I probably wont be up to speed until the weekend, I can't get anywhere to get a PDF published out until Friday, and then I'm going to have to have a few to get comfy with all the changes.

that shouldn't be an issue. I have tums...a whole bottle of em even. My players are not going to enjoy the barbarian hoard there gonna meet really soon.

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

I had 14 skills: 8+4 form rogue, +1 from second level, and +1 because I can't count. Now I have 12 skills. Six are at -1, six are the same. Biggest disapointment was having deception split, so I had to chose between bluff and sense motive. Theft also switched, from sleight of hand with pick locks to pick locks with disable device, which is fine.

I'll update profile soon.

I've been doing a sorcerer test- you can find it under 'classes' in alpha 2. Just look for Igor Proudfoot. He's there for comments so please add your thoughts if you like.

Swift- I'll keep my fingers crossed for your return. Good luck over there!

I am enjoying this. I may not be posting as much as others but I can usually only post between 10pm and midnight (UK time) and, if my brain has been fried by my work, things can be a bit short. Fortunately Ffethpaar is a taciturn sort of lizard so it is in character.

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

Patrick, the pace is fine. When you consider the many different time zones we are all on, I'm actually impressed. Stop worrying.

In regards to Swift, yes I am getting worried, but there has been no disturbances inside, so it is not critical- yet. I'll post on the game thread when I get home from work, so it'll be there for you in the morning.

Actually, the only regret I have is that we are all so spread out. I think we would be a good bunch to share a table as well as a game. Plus, I wouldn't have to type. I do like the way we can split up and still keep the game going.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

If you compare it to Saltmarsh (whoa! 1st melee of the game was finished in 3 hours) and Dead Reckoning... sure. But you're doing pretty good as far as pbps go. You do a lot more writing that most PBP DMs... heck I thought I wrote a lot but you're a madman sometimes.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. I was very nervous starting this game, and I still am a bit unsettled, as the pace of PbP is slow. Unlike the excellent Saltmarsh and Dead Reckoning PbPs I didn't start you all rolling right into combat, but I wanted to set up a bit, and I am still a tad shaky about the rules, 'specially with the whole Pathfinder thing. I am having great fun researching the setting though, and my bookshelf is now groaning with all the old TSR Planescape suppliments.

I am most likely off until next morning. Timeline wise I read things like this:

Zigel & Karrin: 1030 PM at Silver Rose office

Eir and Ffethpaar: 12 AM at Rab Norgins' kip

Greep: 1 AM at the New Market

Swift/Blacky: Dawn on the Outlands.

Despite the wandering around, I think we are closing in on the climax. Due to pacing it might take a week or two, but we will get there!

No worries Kayos, I was figuring the same thing. You are pretty much off the table for now until the rest get caught up. You can always go exploring, but I figured you would stick by the cave waiting for another chance to return to Sigil.

Oh trust me, Swift is very tempted to do so, but she'll probably fight of the temptation as she's well aware that she's been gone a little too long and the group will probably never want to work with her again if she wanders off and eventually comes back with the excuse: "But.. it was interesting and I've never been there before.. you wanted me to scout everything right?"

Anyways, here are my pre-rolls that I should have done ages ago. (I love Alpha 2 skills; suddenly Swift is competent in a lot more stuff - I kept the totals in skills she's already used the same though just to avoid her suddenly and inexplicably getting worse!)

Swift:

Blacky:

Spoiler:

Melee attack (1d20+4=19, 1d20+4=21, 1d20+4=8, 1d20+4=17, 1d20+4=15) She will only attack in this form if cornered or she has a chance for a hit & run sneak attack

Damage: She can't do more than 1 damage due to her strength - I need to get her weapon finesse methinks.

Sneak Attack (2d6=10, 2d6=8, 2d6=4, 2d6=7, 2d6=9)

Aye. It's all good. That was what we in the Army used to call a bracketing shot. I needed to see what force level you could bring to the party. Now I know. Evil Monkey Smirk

EDIT: BTW, I need some suggestions on EXP. I would like to keep you all kinda together, but only Eir and Ffeth have done any real fighting so far. Should I just make a lump award at the end or would you all prefer to advance individually? I figured we would use the Fast EXP tables. Give me a little feedback on what you all think, I am thinking group award myself, but I will go with the party's preference.

group xp fine by me. hell, since we don't need to spend xps to make items, just do an advance-a-level when you want us to. i don't think the xp system really needs playesting. indivual is fine also. or just give out donuts, or whatever.

that reminds me, i still haven't groked the new creation rules, though staffs seem interesting. greep wants to know if he can recharge wands, too.
