yeah as far as kratos see it there all goblins so without someone pointing it out there ..well goblins and you ya know fighting goblins and all. Kratos is fun but keep in mind guys he has an int of 6 and he was told to attack so he did.
much fun

I noticed I screwed up too. 'Reduce person' drops the damage of missle weapons to match the new size. So 'launch bolt' damage should be 1d4 not 1d6. Good thing I missed.
Also- I'd like to add: Ffethpaar, you're making me proud to be on the same team. Although I think the servers may be on the 'broken claw' team, the other goblins seem just to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We'll find out pretty soon either way.
I agree Ffethpaar, I was impressed by how you showed compassion for the goblin. I have always had a soft spot for my monsters, and I always try to play them as if they matter. One reason I dislike the new edition's 'mook' rules for making scads of straw men to butcher through without thought.
I do have to admit though, the image of Kratos ripping the carotid out of a gobbo was pretty good though. Damn that bullhound has some fight!
Remember that most goblins hate humans, so that even if the patrons are bystanders they will probably either flee or join in on the Broken Claw side.
Thrugnipp |
Gee, thanks guys.
Ffethpaar is actually aware that they might all turn out to be his enemies but it is not in his nature just to kill. People have to show that they deserve this fate first. But if they don't take the hint...
Besides, he had a sheltered upbringing and is easily shocked.

Another absentee alert. I'm off to UK Games Expo in Birmingham tomorrow (Friday) afternoon and will be out for the weekend. Getting my first taste of D&D 4e and other thrills.
Ffethpaar will basically lend a hand around the bar unless the Top Table needs urgent attention (but it looks well under control). He'll do his share of any tidying up after the fight as well and probably apologise to all the patrons too.
I'll try to post once more before we leave but no promises.

Guy, I looked up Summoning in the D20 SRD, and it said this:
Summoning
A summoning spell instantly brings a creature or object to a place you designate. When the spell ends or is dispelled, a summoned creature is instantly sent back to where it came from, but a summoned object is not sent back unless the spell description specifically indicates this. A summoned creature also goes away if it is killed or if its hit points drop to 0 or lower. It is not really dead. It takes 24 hours for the creature to reform, during which time it can’t be summoned again. When the spell that summoned a creature ends and the creature disappears, all the spells it has cast expire. A summoned creature cannot use any innate summoning abilities it may have, and it refuses to cast any spells that would cost it XP, or to use any spell-like abilities that would cost XP if they were spells.
So although the jelly mess Karrin made on the tavern floor will disappear, I don't think the scorpion would have disappeared when the caster (Nurkrak) dropped. Unless of course the RAW state that a spell expires when the caster does ... hmm runs back to the SRD site
EDIT: Can't find anything to that tune on the site, so I guess I called it right (YAY!)

I wasn't sure so I thought I'd ask. Likely a hold over from a previous edition or something from another game entirely
PS this is my 5th attempt to post on this thread
It was a real beast today, it devoured everything I tried to post in this thread, oddly it didn't seem to bother the other threads that much.

It's a conspiracy! BTW Guy, the dialog you're doing with your schizo tiefling grrl Karrin is hilarious. Her first real fight was good, even though you and Eir put my BBEG down like he was a milk-sucker though. Ah well.
Guy Humual |
Hehe, ya I like Karrin a lot, this is one of the reasons she wanted a disguise kit, so she could pretend to be other people. She was an only child you see, so to keep herself entertained as a child she had to develop a vivid imagination, and that, coupled with a extremely chaotic nature, leads to a bad ass mercenary who loves to make-believe :D
As for the big guy, Karrin really is a bruiser, but she's also a bit of a cream puff. Karrin can dish out the damage but she really can't take it. Also in that fight Karrin needed one round to power up, and in that round she was very vulnerable (that guy was hitting hard and if Karrin didn't have the 5 cold resistance that guy might have dropped her), but power attack + shocking grasp really add a lot of damage.
Patrick Curtin |
Yeah, I am still shaking the bugs outta my 3.5 DM skills. I wanted to see y'all in action, and I did upgrade the gobbos to a higher force level than I had initially considered, assuming that you would be able to handle it. I think it went fairly well for you all though. Karrin got a nice prize for winning the fight :P
Guy Humual |
You guys do know that the plate mail could be the most valuable item on those nasty goblins. Sure it's of no use to us, but think of the money . . . THE MONEY. Karrin is probably thinking about all the ice cream and beer she can buy (as well as some gifts for people that have helped her along the way).
Patrick Curtin |
Pish! Easy? Where's the fun in that? :P
None at all .. besides, the tension is deeelicious! Will the Goblins get inside ...will our heroes escape to New Market? Will Swift escape with her new shiny cashbox? Tune in next time for another thrilling episode of EEEVILLL MONKEY THEATEEEER!!!

...Will Swift escape with her new shiny cashbox?
She'll be so sulky if she doesn't, it's her box now!
I'm reminded of this(especially at about the 4min mark if you're not in the mood to watch an entire episode of an anime :P)

You all missed a real easy way of dealing with it, but thems the breaks. ;)
Say 'Transform' in Draconic, and strip the body of clothing rather than armor? I thought of that but trying it leads to the gray area of who can use the command word and whether you would need to be wearing the armor for it to work. Also it was likely to have been a 'glamered' enchantment on the armor (appearence only), not a tranformation effect. 'Reduce person' on the corpse was a possibility, but I wasn't sure if a body was still considered a 'humaniod creature' and the duration is only a minute.
Besides, its more fun this way. Later, we can refer to it as 'the cussin' armor' and watch Karrin blush. Especially if its re-sizable and she wears it. "Uh-oh, you're in trouble now- She's got her F$!* B@%@* armor on."

another thing is Karrin has a potion of enlarge person, if she quaffs that she could carry the money, the cash box, and any slow moving smaller characters. On the other hand she'd be real easy to spot.
I don't think anyone in the group can use the armor. so we're likely to sell it, but it would have been a fun thing to tease Karrin about for sure.
Patrick Curtin |
I should have qualified that Duuvarg actually counted as a medium creature. He is 5'6" tall, so his armor and greataxe are medium (regular) size. Also, most magical armor is glammered (by reputable smiths who do that sort of work) to 'stretch' a bit to fit its new owner. This sort of thing is usually built into the armor so that each suit doesn't have to be a custom fit (as in Real Life).

Would have been an intersting visual if you all were running around and his body reverted.Besides, its more fun this way. Later, we can refer to it as 'the cussin' armor' and watch Karrin blush. Rune Soldier is a cute one, a little crazy but very gigglesome for D&D players especially. You have your standard adventuring party; a fighter, a cleric a rogue and a wizard... although the wizard sucks at magic and is much better at punching stuff out :) If you have spare time it's worth a nosy, by the looks of things all of it is on youtube to be poked at, I bought the DVDs on the sole reason it looked like a D&D party and the title of the first disc was 'Enter the Klutz' I'm too easily amused like that!
Patrick Curtin |
LOL..it's one of those old pushcart ones with the big shiny perculator like used to troll the streets of London in Victoria's day. A nice scalding cup of joe for a robbit (but the goblins are sooo near!) Bess can always make some for you, she has a pot and grinder at the Copper Cauldron

I'm having an argument with my character- Greep wants to double back and get a cup of coffee. He's had a long night.
Haha I have the same problem, the reason there's no Swift post yet is I'm having problems stopping the urge to have her stop and pick up some stuff from the carts, she likes nice things. As if the box wasn't enough of a problem!
EDIT: And now I've posted, I apologise for the random, Swift appears to be intent on getting away from me and just doing whatever she feels like!

Hey, I thought of a great place to question the prisoner- the other side of the portal we threadjacked that guy through. We know the portal and the key. Heck, if we keep this up, we could create a colony of dumped prisoners. They could have meetings. 'Hello, my name is ______. I was dumped for being an informer.' 'Hi ______.'
Getting the goblin there is another problem. Hiding the bloodstains with prestidigitation only works for so long.

Guh .... I have finally disciplined the rebellious grass, but the near 100 degree heat we here on the East Coast of the You Ess of Ayyyyy has darn near wiped this monkey out ... will post more on the great goblin chase tomorrow.
Although it's not quite that hot up in my neck of Canada I feel for you. The only thing I hate more then the chill of winter is the heat of summer. I wait till after supper to cut my grass . . . the flies are bad, but that big ball of fire isn't as cruel.

Since greep appears to be at a short, quiet spot, I need to do an update on him. When Alpha 3 came out, the stat bonuses for halfling changed from +2 int to +2 cha, And favored class wiz went away. So I've got tweaking to do. I should have a chance to do it tomorrow.
Did anyone see any other alteraions we need to adjust for?

I think that's called NSCAD (Nova Scotia collage of Art and Design), one of my friends old D&D buddies went there.
That's it exactly ... Actually all three of my sisters attended there, and I'm pretty sure my mom taught a few classes there too. my oldest sister Sheena just returned from a long stint teaching ESL in various asian countries (what the heck is it about Canadians and teaching the world English? :P) with her husband Danny and they have settled in Montreal.

Sorry for slowing people down with Karrin's shenanigans but she's a tad impulsive (who am I kidding: she's very impulsive) and she's been meaning to do a confession for a long time. I'm sure Eir and Ffethpaar will find something to keep them entertained (if they just don't abandon her ;)).
