I think they may have realized that they've killed so many characters off in Ultimate that they're considering killing off the entire line. I mean, after Ultimatum, it's not going to take much more work. Spider-Man was always it's best-selling book, and they're killing Spidey. There's not much left for them to do but have some cosmic threat appear and eat the entire reality (Ultimate does love their canibalism).
Which opens up the possibility of them trying another "rebooted" universe. I dunno if that's really a good idea, though...it might be hard to bottle lightning twice.

I was thinking on the way to work, how it might be interesting to see a comic universe that moves forward at a fixed rate, like 1 year comic time for every two years. I mean you could still have iconic characters that are exempt to this (Wolverine, or a Captain America type who's super soldier serum halted/slowed aging) but everyone else would age, grow old, die, etc.
The latest is the entire 'Jubilee's age retcons' bit. She should be the same age as Paige (who's conviently 18+ after the sex in the air bit) but now she's 17 again.*
