I guess I’m looking for some real planar action. Last planescape campaign I played was great, but we spent a lot of time on prime worlds, or in adventure sites that felt could have been on prime worlds … I want some crazy planar stuff.
Don’t mind the odd dungeon crawl, but they can get tedious, particularly in pbp format.

James Keegan |

I'm not a big fan of dungeon crawls myself. If you liked the smaller dungeons in, for example, parts of STAP (particularly Bullywug Gambit and Seawyvern's Wake) then we'll be on the right page.
With this many chaotic neutral characters (why is everyone chaotic neutral, just out of curiosity?), I can definitely imagine lawful planes being interesting places to visit.

Arctaris |

Long dungeon crawls can be tiresome, especially in Pbp format but other than that I'm happy with just about anything.
Kev's CN mostly because I couldn't see hims as any other alignment. He probably has leanings towards CG but his lifestyle and past have left his morals a little questionable. Money's more important than being a good guy, in his opinion

James Keegan |

Seems like everyone is ready with their character; in the future, ask me about stuff from the Complete Books and things like that. I'm not going to be persnickety about it or anything, I just like the opportunity to review things before you get your blessed little hearts set on anything.
My job is rapidly going from two days a week to "whenever we have a computer open" which is a pain for scheduling. I'll work on the campaign during that three hour per work day period where I have nothing to do but sit like a fat bump on a log (aka, the commute). I want to make all kinds of fun visual aids and crap, but we'll see what I have time for.
Any flavor material you want to come up with in the mean time for your character (whether you're a well-lanned basher or a clueless berk) is certainly welcome. NPCs that you know (allies, enemies, reasonable contacts in the Factions, merchants that you frequent, etc.), where you call kip, etc. are all welcome. Anything the will make the Planes and Sigil a little more personal to your characters.

James Keegan |

OK, after the website ate my first attempt, I think I have patched up a lot of the holes in O.L.L.I. James, when you get a moment, take a look at the gear and make sure it all meets with your approval. I am pretty sure there is nothing too controversial there :)
Looks good. I would note that warhammers are martial weapons, so a cleric without access to the war domain and a deity with the warhammer as a favored weapon wouldn't be able to use it without spending a feat. But, honestly, I don't think it's a big deal: fits the theme of this clockwork box guy and it does the same damage die as a heavy mace, just with a higher crit multiplier, and O.L.L.I. probably isn't going to be doing much damage to begin with.

James Keegan |

Here's some additional questions, if anyone wants to answer (I think they're different from the others, but I apologize if some are similar):
Where does your character call kip (aka, sleep/live if you're not familiar with Cager Cant)?
What's a typical day in Sigil for him/her?
Do they consider themselves a mercenary, an adventurer, a champion of a cause or just a working stiff? What do they do as a day job if they aren't out adventuring? If you're on the wrong side of the law, do you work independently or are you part of a gang/cell? Are you likely to take anything that comes along to earn jink or does an opportunity need to have certain hooks to get you in? (Thinly veiled GM motivation question.)
Detail an NPC and their relationship to you. How did you meet? What were your first impressions? How long have you known them? Do you trust this person?
*What is one memory that affects you to this day? How has it changed you? (Please answer this one, if possible.)
If you're an immigrant to Sigil or otherwise not a born and bred freewheeling Planewalker, do you ever get homesick for your home plane?
At the end of the day, where do you go and what do you do to unwind?

I'll answer these sometime after Monday. I'm visiting my cousins (All five of them, all under the age of eleven. Its stressing my sanity.) and won't have reliable internet access until Monday night.

Another boring day with little to do, so without further ado, I give you the rough draft of O.L.L.I's Allies/Contacts/Enemies
Please note that these folks are not intended to be beholden to O.L.L.I in any fashion. They are just cutters he has talked to and interacted. He has had at least several interactions with them.
Acronyms IC (in the Cage, A guide to Sigil). UC (Uncaged, Faces of Sigil) FM (Factol's Manifesto) DWP (Demonweb Pits)
Allies
Shactal: Drunken Ice Devil night watchman of the Lady's Library (bio page talks about him)
Allesha Sheevis: Proprieter of Allesha's Pantry in the Hive Ward (IC 106). O.L.L.I has known her almost since he arrived in Sigil.
Quote:[i]I know Olli doesn't help out of altruism, but at least he HELPS.
Zena: Factotum of the Godsmen, and animal rights activist of the Lower Ward (FM 20). O.L.L.I has ended up helping her with her many furry friends on occasion since he is immuine to nausea, and can listen patiently to her rants on animal welfare.
Quote:He has more compassion towards our animal bretheren than most flesh people I know.
Bubber Tom: A regular at the various Hive taverns and cheap bubhouses, Bubber Tom has attached himself to O.L.L.I, since O.L.L.I healed him one night when he fell afoul of some Xaositect youths. Bubber Tom attempts to collect information for O.L.L.I, and has on occasion come through with a few gems. O.L.L.I also comes through with jink every so often for a glass at the Bottle&Jug for Tom.
Quote:He's a funny lil' cutter, but he's good ta know in a pinch, and his bonebox is screwed on right.
Contacts:
Goldfeather:Marrash scholar and Chief Librarian of the Lady's Library (DWP 27). Goldfeather tolerates O.L.L.I because he makes his job easier, and he slides him a 10% vig for the scribing he does.
Quote: He's boring, but he does his job
Harvis Skensar:Bartender at the Fortune's Wheel Tavern (Lady's Ward, IC 36-38). Harvis has been known to trade info for jink, but he never does it in the open.
Quote:Never heard of him, berk.
Laro Splithoof:Bariaur busboy at the Golden Bariaur Inn (Lady's Ward,IC 39). Laro is new to Sigil, and often chats with O.L.L.I about his day.
Quote:He's a bit of a prig, but he's friendlier than a lot of berks I could name
Therris the Scriviner:Proprieter of Books, Blotters and Bindings, a paper goods store that O.L.L.I patronizes in the Clerk's Ward. Therris is pleased that O.L.L.I is such a regular customer.
Quote:He's a good customer, always polite, never asks for credit.
Barl Hoxun:Bartender at the Bottle & Jug Tavern in the Hive (IC 107). Has a grudging respect for O.L.L.I, since he has helped a few of his patron's revive after a bad bar fight or a shot of some of the cheaper vintages.
Quote:He may not drink much, but he is handy to have about
Trent Lasher:Bartender of the Yawning Rat in the Market Ward (IC 84). Lasher discourages O.L.L.I from hanging about, but there ain't too many tips in the dive he bartends, so he's not above passing a dark or two along for some jink.
Quote:Be off you soddin' suitcase. We don't got no oil for yah.
Hermione Winstep:A carrier (administrative assistant) in the Hall of Information (IC 66). Hermione is a young pampered, bookish child of a Fated higher up. O.L.L.I's comical appearance appeals to her childlike nature, and she enjoys the attention he gives her. He often brings her an afternoon coffee or treats her to a drink at the Eyes of Elysium (Sigil's omly water bar.)
Quote:Olli's so cute, like a talking stuffed bear I once had.
Thornton Helmdaar IV:An assistant working in the Fraternity of Order's Vault of Knowlege(FM 72). Thornton is a Guvner legacy, a blond, square jawed human who screams "rich and priveleged". He cultivates O.L.L.I as O.L.L.I cultivates him, in the pursuit of juicy darks . Thornton can be a good source of anything relating to the Guvners, but there is always a quid pro quo.
Quote:Pater always told me: It's not what you know, but who you know, and what they can tell you about what you DON'T know
Glorain Ironblood:A clerk assistant to Aram Oakwright, chief steward of the House of Records(FM 64). Glorain is hip deep in Aram's "fuzzy record keeping" scam, and he is still greedy for that extra bit of jink. O.L.L.I can't pay top shelf for darks, but Glorain passes along crumbs for a few gold pieces and hopes that when the shoe drops perhaps O.L.L.I will say a good word for him to the Hardheads.
Quote:He's funny looking but his jink's good
Kesto Brighteyes:Proprieter of the Parted Veil bookshop in the Lower Ward (UC 16). Kesto is a bubbly character for an Athar, and he enjoys when his customer O.L.L.I comes in. They often swap bits of gossip and trivia (when O.L.L.I can keep up with the quick lil' gnome that is).
Quote:Olli..Olli..yes! The rogue Modron with the voracious reading appetite. Now what did he get last time? Was it Shevrik's guide to Pandemonium Places ..or was it Celestia on 10 Stingers a Day? I can never remember...
Tripicus:Ursinal scholar (UC 102). Often uses O.L.L.I's services in the Lady's Library. Also has had O.L.L.I in a few of his lectures at the Civic Festhall regarding worlds on the Prime (Tripicus' speciality).
Quote:He's a lot more interesting and sane than most rogue Modrons I have met in my travels.
Portiale: A bariaur scholar and confidant of Tripicus (UC 102). Also uses O.L.L.I's scribing talents on a regular basis. O.L.L.I has also attended a few of his lectures on Ysgard customs and cultures.
Quote: Yes he is a good student, and much more polite than the Modrons one runs into on the outer Planes.
Unity of Rings: A charity working Monadic Deva (UC 104). O.L.L.I often does charity work with him at Allesha's Pantry in the Hive. Unity of Rings is a veritable fountain of information on Sigil, if you can get him to spill it.
Quote: Ah yes, the Modron Olli. I have a feeling there are many deep currents running below his unassuming exterior.
Wip Wildfang: A halfling Harmonium patroller (UC 124). Wip has a bad case of Napoleonic syndrome, and is a very belligerent Hardhead indeed. O.L.L.I appeals to him because he is strange looking, and Wip feels kind of superior to him. Wip is also fairly lonely, since he has no real friends (being an belligerent 2 1/2 foot tall Hardhead).
Quote: I feel bad for the lil' berk, so I let him patrol with me once in a while to let him see how a real Hardhead gets things done
Marya Ambleton:Serving wench at the Tear of the Barghest Inn in the Clerk's Ward (IC 62). Marya enjoy's O.L.L.I's attention, since it is non-sexual (Marya is extremely beautiful, and her Taker patrons often try to exercise their philosophy on her). She is very antipathetic towards her customers, and freely shares any juicy gossip she hears over a glass of Elysium water with O.L.L.I at the Eyes of Elysium.
Quote: I like him because he's honest, and he doesn't care what knickers I'm wearin'
Ulbrect Halvansson:Bartender (waterboy?) at the Eyes of Elysium water tavern. Ulbrect looks like a 6 1/2 tall Viking that was shaved down, pomaded, given a mani-pedi and stuffed into silk garments. He likes O.L.L.I because he buys a lot of water for his friends Hermione and Marya here (and despite his dandied looks he enjoys good-looking women). Ulbrect always keeps an ear out for any news, and he's hoping that one day he can get O.L.L.I to say a few good words to Marya for him.
Quote:Fer a suitcase, he's got a way wi' the ladies
Ylem Hive dwelling Rogue Modron (UC 116). O.L.L.I and Ylem have crossed paths occasionally. Ylem and O.L.L.I can't really find a lot of common ground despite being similar racially, Ylem has too much chaotic taint from his fusing with the slaad egg essence to really sit well with O.L.L.I. Still, either one would lend a hand if truly needed, if for nothing else than their shared heritage. Also Ylem's ham-handed attempts to speak Cager Cant really grinds O.L.L.I's gears.
Quote:O.L.L.I is a bashing trig berk who jinks the cage around in his screed
Tussa:A bariaur gardener who works in a merchant prince's greenhouse in the Lady's Ward (UC 124). Tussa is explaining herbs and herbal healing to O.L.L.I in exchange for some darks that he is attempting to uncover regarding her family in Ysgard.
Quote:No matter what a berk looks like on the outside, it's the insdie that counts
Enemies
Shanker Trell The leader of an Anarchist cell operating out of the Great Bazaar. The cell, called the "Dischordium" in mockery of the Harmonium, attempts to disrupt Hardhead patrols through the Bazaar with raids, riot inciting, and the occasional rotten tomato thrown from a crowd. Shanker distrusts O.L.L.I, pegging him for a nosy Harmonium spy. He hasn't done anything but given O.L.L.I a rude shove once in a while, but this could change if he feels that O.L.L.I has found out anything important about the Dischordium or its aims.
Quote:I don't trust that nosy lil' box. He step wrong, I'm gonna rip his top off and use him to store me kip
Marran 'Mouth' Zergra:A up and coming tout operating around the Civic Festhall. Mouth has an issue with O.L.L.I since he inadvertently soured a deal Mouth had going with a Clueless by spilling an important dark for free. Mouth will often spread rumors about O.L.L.I being a cross-trader or a Harmonium plant, just to get him in trouble.
Quote:Soddin' berk should leave the toutin' to the professionals.
Clawboy:A Tiefling Xaositect basher. Clawboy is striking, even for a Xaosman. He dresses in motley armor and multi-colored rags, wears a featureless white mask over his face, and is armed with Freddy Kruger-like steel claws on his hands. A dented straw hat completes the ensemble. Clawboy doesn't have a sustained grudge with O.L.L.I, he just disllikes anything that reeks so heavily of Law. He will often taunt O.L.L.I when he runs across him in the Hive.
Quote:Offends sensibilities that my Modron.
Amelie:A Doomguard namer. Amelie is in the Doomguard camp of her factol Pentar, and is a big believer in speeding up entropy. She and a few others spend a lot of time 'entropying' buildings in the Hive and Lower Ward, as well as hurrying up the entropy timetable on any bubbers or addle-pates who are unfortunate to get in their way. She suspects that O.L.L.I has reported her actions, and she and her crew have been under HArmonium surveilence recently. This naturally angers her.
Quote:I'd like to help that fool box right along to the scrap heap where it belongs.
Seamus 'Scratch' Sadeek: A lazy drunken bubber of the worst sort that dwells in the Hive, Scratch used to get a fair bit o' jink from O.L.L.I when he first arrived in the Cage. He would make up screed for O.L.L.I, and then get a bit of jink for his daily bub. Now that O.L.L.I is a bit wiser in the ways of the Cage, he doesn't deal with Scratch at all. Scratch is upset that his easy cony got wise, and paradoxically hates O.L.L.I for wising up.
Quote:Rotten filthy box thinks he's better than me. I'll fix him one day,

I don't mind at all Moth, feel free. I have a lot of down time at work at the moment (seasonal sales) so I had some extra time to detail out some NPCs. I figure everyone would know at least a few of them. Some are sctual write ups in Uncaged as well (a great resource). Plus if you know them, its a good hook to get us all together at some point.

So, how exactly does a half-orc of your stature survive bouncing at a bar for demons? I'd imagine a drunk succubus or balor might be too much for even Reghar to handle.

James Keegan |

I've been really busy with school and work and life, so I'll hopefully get to answer some of the new questions tomorrow, at work.
I also assumed that the feats would be subject to approval, so let me know if Unsettling Enchantment is ok!
We'll try it out. You can do it really often, but it only lasts for one round. Also, just remember that only your beguiler spells aren't subject to your armor's spell failure chance; anything cast as a sorcerer could fail if you're still in your leather armor.
Beeler, yours are fine. They're pretty passive and they fit your character.

(Yes, I am working on the questions. I've been busy with school and visiting relatives. I should be done by Monday at the latest.)

Yeah, I figured that it would be useful against things with a high will save, so at least I could feel like I was helping a little bit. My pops thought it was kinda munchkiny, so I understand if you do too.
I'm also saving up for some super mithral armor, later, so we don't have to worry about spell failure. I think it violated the 1/3rd rule, or else I would have it already.
Are there any good website I can check out about Sigil?

Patrick Curtin |

Are there any good website I can check out about Sigil?
Planewalker.com Is the officially WotC endorsed resource for Planescape stuff. They are still very active and have done a lot of 3.5 updating
Mimir.net is another site, it has been inactive for a long time, but when Planescape was still a supported campaign they had a lot of great fluff stuff. The site is still up, just never updated.

I don't think it'll be too bad if we just keep it in reason. It's like casting doom with every charm person or something. Stuff that can't be affected like undead and constructs will still be an issue. I'll have to start combing my own books to keep it challenging for your guys, I guess.
I'm still pretty much functionally dead to the world when I get out on the days I work in the city. Between 5:30 AM and 10 AM as well as 7 pm and whenever I get a shower and food, my mind is pretty much a f&+$ed to death pile of burning ca-ca. Beyond pretending to be a company man, feigning professionalism and stuff like that, I pretty much communicate by rolling my eye in the socket and emitting a low groan. But I know basically where I want to go; all that's left is the mechanics and actually sitting down and investing the time in writing the stuff up. Stay tuned for either more excuses or info on when we'll start. I'll field any more questions if you berks have any.

two quick questions when you get a moment James:
1. Hit points. What's the ruling? roll on Invisible Castle or are you starting us off with a set amount?
2. O.L.L.I is technically reporting his collected information to Primus in some fashion. Do you have a specific way you want this accomplished or should I just make it up? Or do we just assume he is able to mentally connect with him and gloss over it?

1. I'm thinking you either take the average (round all decimals down, if necessary) for your second and third level hp, with first being maximum. Or you can roll on invisible castle and leave me a link.
2. Radio antenna.

So, how exactly does a half-orc of your stature survive bouncing at a bar for demons? I'd imagine a drunk succubus or balor might be too much for even Reghar to handle.
Oh,Reghar usually comes armed with a lot of holy water. That and the owner has promised that any one who kills my character in the bar will forever be banned from the establishment. (There have been attempts outside of the bar). The owner did this not because it was fond of me but rather good help at a reasonable (cheap) price is hard to find.
