Graaah! Legion of 3 worlds 3 isn't out yet! Graaah!

In terms of Legion villains, I always loved McCauley. He was great because he could fit anywhere. He could appear at the head of an army of flunkies or be strand that links a gang of Khund raiders, the fatal five's latest heist and Nemesis Kid's revival of the LOSV together.

I like your new "core" group, but why Dreamy as the leader? Not that I doubt her, I'm just wondering what your angle is in this.

hehe I can so see this; you take my eternal flame of lusty red essence; combine it with; what; I turn everything to ash and char; lol Efreetis are fire baby; WE RULE!!!!

A Precog\Telepath seems like a slam dunk. But I will add some of the other character flaws and have her question her leadership ability especially while they are "out of time." Seems like a good role playing excuse. I just want them to be around long enough to basically tell the PC's they are doing a good job thanks for helping us catch the menace from our time and oh yeah history says it doesn't turn out this way so you must be doing something wrong, and last but not least to give them a bit of foreshadowing of some new complication that is just around the corner. Which I think would work good with Dreamer (or my version there of.)

Dreamy is a natural to have her powers expand in some direction.

Go one way, and she becomes a time manipulator, with super-speed, time-stop, etc. powers.

Go the other way, and she becomes able to share her visions, almost becoming a kind of illusionist, trapping others in a phantasmagorical sensory overload of overlapping possibilities, something which she's learned to navigate through, but which non-Naltorians would find overwhelmingly confusing, as they see hundreds of possibilities rippling out from each discrete event.

The movie Next (which was surprisingly good for a Nicholas Cage movie) has a fairly awesome depiction of precognition in use. (It's like the best five minute sequence of the precog's escape in Minority Report, stretched out into an entire movie.)

That was kinda my thoughts to the matter. More like the Movie Next but with an added advantage of martial arts training and Telepathy to project thoughts into her opponents head of what she wants them to think she is going to do. Lots of skill levels and Negative Skill levels with the BOECV which in this case is neither a disad or advantage since it will work on machines with the precog ability. Or maybe I will give her a few of each. and then ad a moderate Mind scan and just a touch of Mind Link and I think she will be miss billy bad ass and have some natural talent at leader ship, or maybe she will just be the teams leader for this jaunt. Not sure yet.

The PC's are still talking about how the old man in the wheelchair was once a super hero and passed on his equipment to the only player who didn't have a costumed persona. not only did it give the player a set concept but it allowed the old hero's legacy to be carried on.

Just purchased Heroes/Champions revised 5th edition. Nearly 590+ pages. At this point I was very impressed with the game. Contained many of the elements I was pushing for in my Legion game, got the impression (for the moment anyway) that a lot of information/ideas would transfer over well to mine.

The question is....should I do what I did with Top Secret/S.I., which is rewrite the rules from first page to last page using the Top Secret/S.I. system and modifying everything I ever wanted to? Taking this approach means starting over and retaining things I really liked that I had come up with or rewriting the ideas so that they are compatable with the Heroes/Champion game.

The significantly big positive here is that I would probably accomplish things a lot faster and have more to show for my efforts over the next several months/years. The big downside is that I can only play it. I would be unable to seek out any publishing because of this factor.

Or should I continue with my own creation (despite how slow its taking) and use the Heroes/Chamions game as a solid form of ideas and inspiration to consider, adding it to my wealth of RPG knowledge. I would say that between Marvel, DC, and Heroes/Champions, this game is far closer to the rules intensive that I enjoy.

The significantly big positive here is that I would still create the game I think Legion should be and at the same time eventually give me a greater sense of satisfaction (assuming I succeed over the coarse of 5 years or so). As long as they are rules of my creation I can submit them for publishing with DC comics when the day comes (knows this is a dream that most likely will never come true however).

What would you do?

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone.

Completed my Timber Wolf mini-series yesterday when I went shopping.

Now have most of the Valor series as well. Anyone know how many issues were published for Valor?

Also found issue #1 and #2 of Secrets of the Legion of Super-heroes. Anyone know how many issues there were of this comic as well?

Found a few others, only a couple of which were a Legion title of some kind. The others were like DC Comics Presents, Brave & Bold, that sort of thing, all of coarse featuring the Legion.

Bought a couple of Hero-clix. I don't like the big bases so I was thinking about removing them and attaching them to smaller bases.

Also found a couple of 6" action figures....Silver age Invisble Kid and Colossal Boy.

Bought a few blank dice for my game. I plan on attaching special symbols on the sides for various combat purposes.

And of coarse the Hero/Champions book I mentioned above.

7 day vacation, only enjoyed 1 of them. Couldn't get anyone to go with me all week to go shopping for gaming stuff, so I finally got P*ssed off and just went on my own. Wish I had done that the first day of my vacation, the remaining 6 days would have been a lot better. Seems like everytime I go on vacation, I actually get less done than on a normal day off. Why is this?

REMEMBER TO DECORATE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE WITH ORNAMENTS OF ALL THE DIFFERENT PLANETS, JUST LIKE THE LEGIONNAIRES DID ONCE IN AN VERY OLD LEGION STORY. IF MEMORY SERVES CORRECTLY, SUPERGIRL AND SUPERMAN FLEW TO THE 30TH CENTURY TO VISIT AND THE LEGION HAD A CHRISTMAS TREE UP LIKE THIS. SUPERGIRL WAS TRYING TO FIND A WIFE FOR SUPERMAN. HE ENDED UP KISSING SATURN GIRL TWICE AND LIGHTNING LAD DIDN'T LIKE THAT. OF COARSE THE MAN OF STEEL DID NOT KNOW THEY WERE MARRIED AT THE TIME.

HAPPY LEGION HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE.

MERRY CHRISTMAS LEGIONNAIRES!!!!

Switch won't be effective unless its lead lined. You could kill him with that. I can design one for you if you like.

Liberty's Edge

So.....lead......ergo.....bullets.

Dude's just in the 30th senchry cos in the 21st, everybody has guns, not lasers.

Actually, I think it would be more fun to game with him. We could use old miniatures and watch him die a slow death. We could put him in a room with lead filled paint so he can't leave.

Of coarse he does take these pills that Brainiac 5 made for him, they give him temporary immunity to lead.

Liberty's Edge

I hate that kinda deux ex machina crap.

Heathansson wrote:

So now your hating on Brainic 5 as well because he made anti-lead serum for Mon-el? Why not just put him back in the phantom zone and throw away the phantom zone projector?

Your just jealous Heath, because I'm better looking.

Liberty's Edge

I got some lead zepplin for your ass, Mr. Plastic Devo Hair in a Red Nehru Jacket. Better looking. B&$%@, please.

Thanx, Supergirl, you're a livin' doll.

Your welcome, it's about time someone showed that shmuch who's boss. Let's just say when I finished with him, he was singing a few octaves higher.

Who's your mommy Mon-el?

Keep on, lass. He still seems to be able to talk.

The time has come to unveil my Legion soundtrack. I purchased my first i tunes card and downloaded some Legiony music.

Theme from Superman
Theme from Star Wars
It's not Easy (Superman) by Five for Fighting
After All by Cher and Peter Cetera
Hero by Enrique Iglasias
Hero by Mariah Carey
Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler
Space Oddity by David Bowie
Battle of the Heroes (Star Wars)
Flash's Theme by Queen
Against all Odds by Phil Collins
Take my Breath Away by Berlin
Up Where we belong by Joe Crocker
I Believe I can Fly by R. Kelly
Across the Stars (Star Wars)

An excellent mixture of space, heroes, and love songs if I do say so myself; traits all of which the finicky Legion fan requires.

Some *awesome* choices there. (I love Against All Odds, Take My Breath Away, Flash's theme, etc.)

Other possibilities;
Heroes, the Wallflowers (also a Bowie song, but this version is better, IMO)
Save Me, Remy Zero (theme song for Smallville, which I hated, but has grown on me)

I also kind of like Learning to Fly (Pink Floyd) for that sort of theme, but it doesn't sound very 'super-hero-y.'

Happy new year Legionnaires~!

Liberty's Edge

I'm gonna party like it's 2999.

Yes, happy new years Legionnaires. Here's hoping for another 50 years of Legion comics. Oh, and remember, we are starting the new year off right with Legion appearing on Smallville, January 15, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad will be present. The one and only Persauder of the Fatal Five will be there to try and do something e's probably not suppose to be doing.

Personally, I hope Persuader kicks their a**. I'd help him, but I was censored from the tv show, they said I was to evil, now how can that be?

Saturday I'm suppose to meet this gentleman I spoke with over the phone. He has some Marvel and DC silver age comics for sale. He said his collection (30 comics total) included Spiderman, Hulk, Superman, along with some others. Now I'm fairly familiar with when DC comics started, but I'm less familiar with things like Thor, Hulk, and Spiderman. Did these comics start in the 1960's? All the comics he has for sale are from the 60's. I'm trying to get an idea how old they might be before I get there as well as value. He described them as "Not mint but not junk either" anyone have an idea what they think some of these issues would be worth at poor to fair condition?

Best i can recommend is hit up a comic store and get/snag a fairly recent pricing guide. The values of comics vary widely on factors that include things as simple as what happened in an issue, first appearance of character X, major plotline arcs, etc. In addition to the mint/near mint etc qualities and the size of a given issue's print run.

I agree, I was thinking about doing that tomorrow. I can find a price guide in a neighboring town easy enough. I's just getting antsy because I'm hoping I'll find something nice.

Understandable, good luck! ;)

Hi there, just got back from the guy who had comics for sale. After looking at what he had, here's what I found:

I would say the the comics were in FINE to GOOD condition based off what I've seen for evaluating comics on the internet. I didn't buy anything because I decided to do some research first. The highlights he had were as follows:

The Avengers #19, Aug. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Fantastic Four #42, Sept. 1965, He wants $5.00 for it.

Giant Man and Incredible Hulk #69, July 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Giant Man and Incredible Hulk #66 Apr, 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Spiderman #23, Apr. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Spiderman #29 Oct. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Spiderman #30 Nov 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Amazing Fantasy #15, Aug 1962 (apparently the first appearance of Spiderman from what I understood). He wants $200 for it, I'd say condition is Good, the biggest flaws were a slightly rolled spine and somewhat loose cover but not to bad, the outer right edge was chewed (maybe 1/8 all the way down, otherwise in decent condition. This is the worst of the comics in regards to condition, all of the others on this list were better.

Superman #155, Aug 1962, He wants $5.00 for it.

Giant Superman Annual #5, Summer 1962. He wants $5.00 for it.

Ironman and Captain America #59, Nov. 1964, He wants $20.00 for it.

Ironman and Captain America #58, Oct. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

Hawkman $43, Sept. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

Daredevil #4, Oct. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

The Flash - Giant Issue #4, Oct. 1964, He wants $7.00 for it.

Batman #149, Aug. 1962, He wants $5.00 for it.

The Shadow #3, Nov. 1964, He wants $2.00 for it.

Strange Tales: The Watcher, #134, Jul 1965, He wants $5.00 for it.

I'll buy a price guide to help me figure out what these comics are worth if I were to turn around and sell them. Regarding the prices for the various conditions in a comic price guide; are these what I could sell them for or if I sold them to a comic store or should I expect a lot less? If so, where else should I go to sell them? Right now I'm looking for some advice to get me started on things. Does anyone know of any websites I can visit which will tell me what the value is of these comics based on the condition?

He had some others for sale as well but their condition was worse POOR to FAIR, they were all other types of comics, such as Aquaman and Aqualad #32, Bugs Bunny 1959, Woody Woodpecker 1955, Mouse Musketeers 1957, Loony Tunes 1959, Herbie #5 1964 (not the car but some other sort of character I'd never seen before), Fightin Army #44 1961, Tarzan 1959-1960, Disney's Word of Adventure 1963, Bonanza 1962, Tonka #966 1968 (how can a comic be up to issue #966 in 1958, unless he meant issue #96?), 1962 MN Twins Yearbook. I didn't think any of these were worth anything though. They were all very cheap, most $1.00, a few at $5.00, and the Herbie at $7.00.

Any input would be appreceiated. Thanks much!

Didn't you read the spoiler I set for you, your release year is 3110. And you think I'm not evil. HA TAKE THAT LITTLE RED SPRITE MAN! I suppose you could get out earlier if you find someone willing to transport you to the future, but I find it unlikely that anyone here has that knowledge or would want to. Face it your stuck.
