Any news on whether this issue is likley to be on time?
TPFG list it as "expected" for 12/7 (tomorrow) - is there any likelihood of this being an accurate date. Do you (Paizo) get confirmation when the magazines arrive at TPFG for despatch?
Any info greatly appreciated.
Sadly the UK Royal Mail are going on strike again tomorrow so even if the magazines do get posted they'll probably be delayed again.

The UK post office, apparently they were the ones on strike with issue 148.
That's what TPFG claimed - its not actually true however.
The UK Post Office/Royal mail are having a series of national one day strikes at the moment (over pay and conditions, and managment plans to modernise the business, change working practises and make redundancies) and some local offices are also striking over similar issues - but TPFG claims that this is why 148 was delayed are absolute rubbish as there wasn't any industrial action underway the week they claim that 148 was posted.
EDIT: This was all discussed at some length in this thread

Ok, I live in Germany and Dungeon #149 is under way for almost 4 weeks now and still hasn't shown up here! It never took so long...
Do we (Europeans) should wait any longer, or do you think the issue will not arrive anymore?!
Normally (except issue #148) it never takes more than three weeks to appear in my mailbox! :(

We think TPFG should be able to ship them next week. We're sorry about the delay.
At least you guys are always there to let us know how things are shaping, so no worries.
I'm just going to sit down here in my comfy chair, turn it to face out the window, and show the postie new and interesting fright-sights each morning until he relents and gives me what I want. :-)"Give me what I want, and I'll go away" ;-)

heh :-) I´m in the lucky position that I did not find the time to read the last issues of both mags since they arrived, so, I don´t miss them. Strange as this may sound...

How they (TPFG) managed to stay in business is probably amongst the biggest mysteries known to mankind.
Although I must admit, I'm slightly annoyed at Paizo's involvement in this delay too - how could it possibly take 3 weeks to notice & solve the money issue? Seriously, a change in payment options should have long been worked out by Paizo & TPFG... BEFORE this happend - not 3 weeks after the magazines were supposed to have been sent.
And why does it take TPFG then ANOTHER week to send them out, after the problem has been solved?
So we will probably get Dungeon 149, 150 & Dragon 358 at the same time, them effectivly being delay about 5 weeks?
*shakes his head in disbelieve*

Actually, in this case "letting us know" would have been an official email to the subscribers - a more than 3 week delay is no a triffle - this is a serious flaw in service.

Still no magazines - or any sign of them even having been sent yet.
And, heres the good news
A two-week campaign of staggered strike action throughout Royal Mail is set to begin at 1900 BST.
Each division within the firm has been allocated a different day to strike, in a move designed to cause continuous disruption throughout the period.
Full story can be found here.

Great, just what we need now... Well, one might argue that never know if the post offices are on strike anyway :-)

from tpfg regarding the last issues sent
Dragon
Last Issue Sent: 357
Last Issue Sent on: 20th June 2007 (Projected Date: 26th June 2007)
Next issue due on: 24th July 2007
Dungeon
Last Issue Sent: 148
Last Issue Sent on: 12th June 2007 (Projected Date: 8th June 2007)
Next issue due on: 12th July 2007
They managed to hold off long enough by now to send both next 358 and 149 together for those that have both and saved $$$ on postage. Well, I'll see if my theory is correct when I get both.

We've asked for confirmation and a timetable, but have not, so far as I know, received a response yet.
I know this is frustrating for you; it's frustrating for us as well.
We'll be very glad to have direct control over Pathfinder shipping.
Have to say that this doesn't seem too hard to resolve and the fact that subscribers had to post here before we found out there was a problem does not bode well for Pathfinder subscribers.
Surely the response can be obtained by just picking up the phone. If TPFG have the magazines and the money then a timetable should be easy to produce. They do this (often badly I admit!!) every month so surely they should be able to give a quick answer.
Any update on progress today would be good as surely you, Vic, and the others at Paizo will be on top of this all day.
crazy_cat |
I'm assuming we wont be getting an update until Monday now as TPFG will be closed for the weekend by now.
Not impressed at all - this comes as no great suprise from TPFG, but quite honestly Paizo should be doing, and have done, more to sort this out. Its not like problems with UK/European magazine subscriptions are any sort of suprise - it happens more or less every month now, and we don't get any sort of answers or explanation (or even an apology) until we post here complaining.

I'd really, really like to tell you the whole story, but the truth is, I just can't. Professional courtesy (and possibly contractual clauses and legal ramifications) dictate that I can't tell you certain types of things, even if they affect service to you. All I can tell you is that we've done what we can to rectify the problem, and now we're trying to confirm that the problem has been solved, and that confirmation has not been forthcoming. As you rightly point out, we're clearly not going to have that confirmation before Monday.
Part of the problem here is that we're in a lame-duck sort of situation here, where some parties may not have a lot of motivation to solve things, and other parties may not have much recourse when it comes to unsolved problems. (And keep in mind that there are more than just two parties involved here, so you shouldn't leap to conclusions attaching the parties you're aware of to those descriptions.)
Again, we're really sorry that this is happening, and that we've had similar problems before. Dungeon and Dragon subscription distribution in the UK and Europe has been problematic on several occasions since before the Place for Games, and since before Paizo, and trying to fix it has consumed a lot of resources on both sides of the Atlantic.
As for the future, I can tell you that Pathfinder subscriptions, like GameMastery Module subscriptions, will all be shipped directly from Paizo, so the only third parties involved are the shipping services between here and there.
ericthecleric |
The wait for the last two issues is frustrating, but those who subscribed via Paizo do have many options for what to do with their remaining credit. If TPFG is in financial difficulties (although I have no idea about that), I think those of us who subscribed via TPFG should be more worried about getting their refund on their remaining magazine credit than the late appearances of magazines. However, it may not necessarily be TPFG’s fault, so perhaps we should be patient, frustrating though it is.

TPFG informed us that the magazines have gone out, but they've been told that there are continuing "rolling strikes" with Royal Mail, so delays in delivery are likely.
Thanks Vic. We (UK Residents) know about teh strikes adn we'll jst have to live with them - what I was looking for was confrimation TPFG had finally actually posted the magazines (Dungeon and Dragon I presume?)

Good news that the magazines have finally been shipped but do we have a timetable for issue 150 yet? WOuld be nice to know that it's following hot on the heals of 149 given that we've had to wait so long for this one. It's already shipped to US subscibers so any news on the final issue for us in the UK and Europe?

Yes, 358 and 149 respectively.
We'll check into the status of 150; 359 hasn't finished printing yet.

Hmm, I am usually quite annoyed when the Deutsche Post (German Postal Service) takes more than three or four days to deliver something...
Vic, I do not understand why you have any loyalties left with the involved parties that give you so much headache, though it is a nice character trait.
Perhaps an idea for 350. Just pack all the issues for Europe, take a plane and mail them from here. ;-)
