Can Gig still play mandolin after the 'pasta machine incident'? And has Horton finally stopped talking about the conspiratorial undertones of the Seavers and the Keatons?

His mandolin chops are as tasty as ever, despite the rotinied paw. Horton is still talking in conspiratorial undertones about the unilaterally chee-z 80's hilarity, but you know what? Sometimes I forget that my gift for spotting and understanding the process of people drowning in paranoia owes itself to my own unheralded surfacing.

The paranoid’s stroke is a marvel of lawful design and powerful reason, built to cut through the unknown quicker than a fully rational process ever could. But this stroke of theirs always pilots them to a downward arc, carrying them deeper; rarely to move on straight like a good stroke ought to. And as they sink, they build-- taking a string of simple coincidences the average man could do nothing with and they, in the space of seconds, weave a steel spanned bridge from No F@~@ING Way to MaybeJustMaybe. If you haven’t seen three in a room together talking, you haven’t seen shit. Cuz that’s like stargazing. It almost lets you off the hook for not being as smart as them… look what smarts gets you. These guys are doing a good job proving that Arnold Horseshack killed Kennedy.

Sometimes I forget that I’m one of them, just a schmuck fortunate enough during my flailing to have grabbed hold of a merciful bit of shore in this sea of chaos that thrashes our kind against one other like blinding novas… but then I remember that just yesterday, alone at home and not used to it when Gig and Horton got a day gig at a club on their own and couldn't get me on the list, that I began to talk to myself and suddenly worried if anyone listening around the back or front of my house could hear me. So then I start playing to this trespassing imaginary audience, trying to impress with witty comments and yet succumbing to press conference type statement reversals where I explain that though I’ve made a politically incorrect joke it doesn’t represent my own true view on the subject. I’m explaining myself to the air.

If it wasn't for my trained mutant gerbils climbing around on my chest jewelry, I don't know how long I'd stay sane.

Too brave? They say I'm ahead of my time. The voices, that is.

Yeah, I guess I'll go since I promised Nick that I'd help out in one of his games (Hellfire Congress) and then run amok and win another (Iron DM). Coming for you Dreads and I'm bringing my buddies from the Pagoda....

Oh and then there's all the other cabbages who will be in town, all running our own little private games as well. The Con within the Con

It looks like there's a tenative Paizonian get-together on Saturday night, post-Ennies awards (in which Paizo will dominate, of course ;) ). Place not determined yet.

Looks like a good time to cough this thread back up. I know some people have already started their treks to Gen Con, so now would be a good time to start planning any meets, plans or connections.

I'll be there. I know I'm not a big name around here, but it would be cool if I saw some of you guys (I'm a HUGE lurker and feel like I know some of you quite well by reading the boards all day). Anyway, if there's some kinda meetup or whatnot, I'll check it out. Also, I'll try to hit the Paizo seminars, they were cool last year.

Well, foo. Saturday night I won't be at the show - hell, I won't even be in Indiana. My 20-year high school class reunion is that night back in Middletown, Ohio, about a 90 minute drive from Indy. So I'm leaving the booth early to scoot out and see some old-school homies.

You kids have fun without me... *sniffle*...

BUT SAVE ME SOME COOKIES, DAMNIT! :)

Hey, everybody. I'm very excited to be going this year and wondered if any of you will be there.

Sadly, no, and I was really wanting to make this my first year what with Gygax making an appearance and all. But after a weekender in Vegas for a wedding, an unexpected funeral trip to Hawaii, a family vacation to Disneyland, and another weekender in Vegas for the Classic Gaming Expo (which I didn't pay for but still felt guilty for attending without the family) I just couldn't begin to ask to go to GenCon, too. Maybe next year, though was thinking I'd try to make PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) this year instead since I live in Seattle it's not like I'm going anywhere really.

Yes, Lilith is making us all cookies. Better be soft Lilith, I like soft cookies.

May not be able to do so, as I'd have to make them Tuesday at the latest, and homemade cookies tend to go stale fairly quickly. (On the other hand, they usually don't last long anyway... >.> )

I'll prolly make chocolate chip and/or peanut butter. And blueberry muffins.

I hope I'll have time to make 'em. :O

Grand Lodge

Mmmmm peanut butter and blueberry muffins. ME a happy camper. I think I'm going to have to glomp Lilith at the convention.

Lilith is a Queen! I'm buying her drinks at the con, cause she is a goddess!!!

Grand Lodge

God we are all going to be so drunk, from buying each other drinks lol.

Okay, I thought I thought I posted this as it's own thread but can't seem to find it. So I'll post it here:

Might I Interview Gary Gygax?

Greetings all,
I am going to Gencon this year for the very 1st time, and while I am planning to see & do as much as possible... I also thought the 40th Anniversary would be a great opportunity to get video interviews with our hobby's movers & shakers. I'm no professional reporter by any means, but I was hoping to post these on YouTube for others to view, under the moniker of "NerdNetwork" So my question is can I arrange for a short interview with Mr. Gygax? As well as other Paizo representatives?
I am renting a Sony Mini DV Camcorder from Advanced AV rentals. Which I think has an office in the Indiana Convention center, otherwise I'll rent it here in CT. The earliest I can arrive is Friday night (Unless I get an earlier standby flight), leaving Saturday and Sunday to attempt this.
I hope to also interview members of the Wizards of the Coast team, Palladium Books, West End Games, etc, etc. Is there a seminar or panel where they will be answering questions? The main thing I would like to ask is of course their cancellation decision regarding Dragon & Dungeon magazines. Their business reasonings behind it, as well as how they see it from a Public Relations standpoint. It's probably too late to sign up for True Dungeon, but I would like to get permission to follow 2-3 teams through. Get their impressions before and after.
Thank you,
Patrick

P.S. I have some questions in mind, but I wonder if anyone here has any interesting questions they would like to pose Mr. Gygax if they ever met him.

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

A few of us had been looking for a way to record the Paizo seminars for the part of the community that cannot make it. Would you be willing to film those? We can sort out where to put the videos later.

So, where's this tentative get together tentatively going to be? It's getting close, and I'd certainly like to attend. I'm registered for the Introducing Pathfinder seminar and will, of course, stop by the Paizo booth on my own outside of the seminars. So long as the information is available on where to meet, I'm happy.

At last, McArtor's promised cookie will be mine! >:)

Ohhh... sorry Saern. I won't be there.

You should try to make Jason buy you a cookie, though. I'll still owe you one (or more?), of course, but then at least you'll have a cookie for Gen Con. ;)

Saern wrote:

There's the rub. So far there has been a handful of people chatting about it, but definite plans have been laid. I don't care about where as long as it's comfortable and fun. I'd prefer not to create yet another event on Saturday, so perhaps Friday or Sunday?

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

Oh yeah, and do you have to register for the seminars? Crap.

This goddess has a request - due to recent events, I am in dire need of a minion to haul my stuff around. Doctor's orders say no carrying of weights bigger than 10 lbs. The hubby says 5. (Guess who I'm going with?)

And in the words of my hubby, "If I hear that her friends did not help her out, and I ever get the money to go to GenCon, I will have...words."

So please, Paizonians, help me out! :D

I'd be glad to help if I could but I don't know what my work schedule is exactly from Wednesday on :\ I plan to attend as much of the Pathfinder stuff as possible though. Even though I live in Indy I've never made it to the con. And I might have some wedding photos of a were-platypus to show too : )

Grand Lodge

Lilith when and if I can I'll help you out. I'll be bringing my knapsack along. One thing you can do though, is if you have a rolling case bring that. That way there is no lifting, though might look a little strange heh.

Sovereign Court Contributor

Lilith,

I'm on the same demo schedulen at the booth as you for 3 of the four days. I can certainly fetch and carry for you then, and I'll do what I can as my schedule permits at other times.

Don't overdo it. I'm serious. I'd tell you to stay home if I didn't know how stupid a thing that would be to say.

Don't do anything physical between now and then so you can heal up as much as possible, and take it really easy at the Con.

I had some minor surgery a few years ago and seriously set back my recovery by doing very little; I walked around our yard while my wife was mowing the grass and picked up a few toys and sticks to get them out of her way. I had been feeling great, but an hour later I was in bed and didn't get out for three days.

So take it easy and get well!

My wife and I wont be able to be up until Sunday and have no specific plans other than to hit the dealer hall for a bit. Hope to see some of you there.

Hi all:

Well first off I think you all know that I am Lilith's worse half :) I know she told you all what happened however this is a slightly different view...

7am Friday morning: I wake up to find Lilith has not slept all night.

8am: Bend Memorial Clinic Urgent care.

8:15am Being seen by MD.

8:40am Imaging Center (same building) for scans.

9:15am: Back at Urgent Care.

9:30am Seen by MD.

10am: Back at Imaging.

11am: Back at Urgent Care.

11:30: Seen by MD.

12:00: I am informed that lilith will be meeting with a Surgeon; that's right..

12:15: Surgeon is telling myself and my Lilith that she is at the very beginning stages of Apendicities (heck with the spelling)

12:45: All questions concerning Post-Op concerns, Op-Concerns etc.

1:00pm: Admissions at St Charles Hospital in Bend.

1:45pm: I am watching the Nurses, Anesthesiologist (heck with spelling)and Doctor prep Lilith for a Less Invasive Version of Appendectomy.

4:30pm: Operation is done and Lilith has spent 1-2hrs in Post Op recovery.

Now I am not saying anything bad about the Medical Staff in any way shape or form. They were completely responsive, professional, forthright and straight to the point...However I have to admit that I felt like the 10 items in an express lane...if you all know what I mean.

When the Op was done the doctor came to chat with me and the one thing I and Lilith's boss asked was whether or not she would be able to fly to GenCon on Wednesday...The answer both I and her boss received was: "as long as there are no complications, she does not push herself, she gets her rest this weekend (she is doing this as I type) and she does not lift anymore then ten (10) pounds for the next four weeks (that's right 4 weeks) however the ultimate decision rests with the primary care givers decision." I am the primary care giver...I say no more then five (5) pounds

I know she has been giddy about going to an event all gamers should go to at least once and I really want her to go...I have been to GenCon three times and I was overwhelmed by the sense of community which all of us gamers should experience. This being said however I think you all understand that Lilith is the Sunlight of my life and she knows that her being able to go will be based on the amount of improvement I see in her condition. I know she has responsibilities at GenCon that she totally and completely looks forward to and I would love nothing better then read, on these boards, how much fun was had by all who attended her demos. All I ask is the same thing you all would ask: Don't let her work too hard.

Thanks

Liberty's Edge

Sure thing, I was hoping to see the Pathfinder panel and Writing for Paizo.

Grand Lodge

*cleans his eyes* that was beautiful mate...just beautiful. I'll do my best to remember not to glomp Lilith. Give her my best, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Like giving her a goblin plushy to cuddle with.

Good man, well said.

Hope Lilith feels better soon.

Best wishes to you both

As it should be. Appendicitis is one of the quickest ways to death. It's something the medical profession does not mess around with, as the appendix can burst within hours of the first symptoms (although generally you get a day or so to suffer through excruciating pain if you want).

All that unpleasantness aside, I hope Lilith is feeling better soon, but you should err on the side of caution before deciding whether to go to GenCon or not.

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

Alright, this being the first Con I've been to I need some emergency last minute advice. Do people bring their books and dice to these things? I'm not registered for the seminars. Is that necessary? Why did I spend this money and plan better? What kind of person am I going to be sitting next to on the plane?

Spoiler:
On that note, when I fly I come up with an alter-ego and sell that story to any other travelers that happen to become chatty during a flight (or waiting for a flight). My consultant story didn't work so well last time because I was rushed and just chose a profession on a whim.

I'll be there tomorrow around 4:00. I'll check email all weekend to see if anyone needs help with anything or would like to say hi. Can't wait!

As ever,
ACE

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

My phone is dead. I was going to mention that I get the boards and email on my phone, but not until I get another one. Also, anyone that was expecting to see me after I get into town is going to have to wait because I need to get a new phone. I might not have all of your numbers, so if you can send me an email and I'll add them as soon as I can get a new phone.

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

For anyone who is either already here or planning on showing soon, email me (in the profile) if you want because I get emails on my phone.

Alrighty, just got back from Gencon :)
And I've gotten that Pathfinder Panel video uploaded online. (yep, If anyone was there I was the annoying guy with the camera phone... couldn't find that mini-DV rental) So sorry for the quality, that and it kept stopping to save like every 5 minutes.
I also got a whole bunch of cool captures, like interviews with Kevin Sembedia, Peter Bradley (artist for Castles & Crusades), and pics from the celebrity signing area (Raelee Hill aka Sikozu being my favorite)
Here's the address;

Thank you, Nick (also know as Nicolas Logue) for getting me a copy of the Gen Con version of Pathfinder # 1. Not only was he nice enough to get James Jacobs and Wayne Reynolds to sign it, but he shipped it to me ASAP. I do so appreciate you doing this. So I guess that I am going to have to try to talk the Paizo staff into bumping you up from Paizo Slvae # 22 to a better number? Or should I cancel your torure where we put you in a room, tied up and gagged, with Richard Pett all by your lonesome? ~grins~

Also, thanks James nad Wayne for signing my copy even though I was not there. I appreciate you both doing that.
