A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3-6.
Of the many buildings that make up sprawling campus of the Lorespire Complex, the Starfinder Society's central base of operations, none is more mysterious than the squat metal bunker that agents call the Perplexity. Its heavy starmetal doors cannot be bypassed by physical or magical means, but once each year, they swing open of their own accord, remaining open for a single day.
The Perplexity's creator, a former First Seeker, claimed it was built to serve as a proving ground for the next generation of Starfinder agents, but the perilous enigma never served this purpose. Of the groups who have braved its depths since, the few who have survived to tell the tale have kept the knowledge of what they saw closely guarded, telling only the First Seeker of what they experienced.
Are you brave enough to uncover the secrets of the Perplexity?
This special adventure can be run only by Starfinder Society GMs who have earned at least 4 Novas, and it cannot be replayed.
In this scenario, the PCs' actions have consequences to their characters that run deeper than what is typically possible in Starfinder Society play.
Players may choose to play this scenario for no credit to experience the story without these lasting consequences. To preserve the novelty of the experience for those who have not yet played, please refrain from discussing the contents of this scenario with anyone who has not played or GMed it before.

In many ways, this scenario is not your average Starfinder Society Scenario, it is something that's likely a good fit for players that are a bit more experienced with org play - but at the same time experience with the trappings of org play might only help.
This scenario made sense as something special for Thursty to run at conventions, but I am not sure if it needed a number to attract the completionists among us.
The chronicle sheet is tricky in it's own way and causes things that I am not delighted by, one aspect makes a current issue in org play even worse, while another thing.... just makes it harder to write scenarios.
Though that is a very personal thing, would I recommend this one to anybody - no, would I warn anyone from playing it... maybe.... if you plan to GM this for your group, make sure that everyone knows what they are in for and that your players can deal with the consequences.
It's not a badly made scenario, some parts are really enjoyable, but I feel like the chronicle sheet makes it so much worse.
"Announced" for November, to be granted to 4-Nova Starfinder Society GMs and above! Product image and description are not final and may be subject to change.
So, I'm assuming it'll be covered in the scenario proper, but does the "cannot be replayed" mean I can only get GM credit for it once? I've already played it back at SkalCon 2018, and I'm planning to GM this a few times.
Second question, does it count towards the 10 specials for the 5-nova qualification?

A chronicle for this scenario can only be earned once, regardless of whether you earn it as a GM or a player. No replays of any kind may be used on this scenario.
Important note: playing through this scenario prior to formal publication (as in, with Thurston when he was running it before now) are considered "Playtest runs" and do not count toward the above limit. A character who previously played this scenario for credit may not, however, earn another Chronicle for this scenario.

So glad to see this listed. Will we 4 nova GMs have to purchase it, or will it arrive in our downloads automatically?
Assuming I set the page up correctly, it should automatically be granted to all 4 Nova GMs.
This scenario does not count as a Special for purposes of Nova qualification.

May I ask why? I was kind of hoping that it could be my 10th special. I do think that the dilemmas presented here are... intense. Knowing how to present them requires some sensitive and careful GMing.
Is the intent that multi-table specials are what actually apply, not the Exclusive tag? Why did the Nova tag go away in season 3?
It allowed the ability to differentiate between Exclusive scenarios and 5th-Nova credit scenarios.
It's clear that there's some concern over the "5-Nova applicability" of this scenario. We have some announcements we'll make in the future about this (more of a blog than a post here) as we get closer to 1-98's release. We took a lot of feedback and are going to revise our decision on this, and will have more information on how 1-98 will work into Nova qualifications then. This will not count in the same manner as an interactive special, but it will count and help you get there.
For now, I just hope y'all enjoy this silly little scenario I put together >_>
Wait, this is real? You maniacs are releasing this into the wild?
Seriously though, the "playtest" run of this at Skal Con was great. I look forward to seeing what changes were made during development and driving another on of my poor helpless characters insane.

Alex, forgive me for double-checking this, but there are an awful lot of players in Minnesota with Thurston playtest run credit from SkalCon, and I want to be sure of how this works.
I, Charli Poshkettle, played this adventure at SkalCon prior to publication. Does this mean that my player can have 3 into the Perplexity chronicles?
1 Playtest run from SkalCon with chronicle
1 Player run now on some other character with chronicle
1 GM run on some other character with chronicle
Or does it mean that I can only have:
1 Playtest run from SkalCon with chronicle
1 Player run for NO credit, NO chronicle
1 GM run on some other character with chronicle
The latter. The playtest run is its own beast, you can have one chronicle from that. You can also have one chronicle (on a different character) from the published 1-98. You cannot get 3 total because you can only get 1 ever from the published edition, regardless of whether it's player or GM credit.
Welp my Perplexity character is today about to level up to level 9 x'D Guess I'll never be able to play all perplexity scenarios(assuming we get sequels) with same character
