From Brasil.
I haven't actually read the Green Ronin 'Book of Fiends', but even if I had, by virtue of that being another company's IP, the daemons in BotD3 are their own creatures entirely with a different thematic focus from what I know of the GR book.
However, there's nothing stopping you from integrating and weaving both types together in your own campaigns if you think they'd be cool together. :) There's plenty of space in the lower planes for all sorts of evil awesomeness.
Thanks for the reply and I will integrate both as you said.
I love the concept and goals of the daemons. I am a evil GM and my player hate me.

Actually IMHO given that the daemons from the Book of Fiends are focused on human sin, they might work better as demons in Golarion's cosmology.

Golarion daemons are more tied to the method of death - Hydrodaemons come from souls who die by drowning, Derghodaemons come from souls who got eaten alive by itsy bitsy little crawly things...

So I wonder if anyone out there has tried to make actual rules for Abaddon, as in this:
(Szuriel's domain) More so than any other region of Abaddon, Szuriel’s realm is openly hostile simply as a result of environmental conditions. Surrounded by uncounted miles of blasted wasteland, the land littered with broken pumice, basalt, and the bones of the dead, anyone moving causes the air to rapidly fill with a localized cloud of fine volcanic glass. Initially any inhalation causes only a simple nagging irritation, but exposure for more than an hour gradually causes internal bleeding and countless tiny ruptures in the lungs, resulting in the affected victims literally drowning in their own bodily fluids and adding another set of bones to the Angel of Desolation’s vast domain.
I'm still playing with ideas, but this is my current thinking:
"This dust is fine and clingly, like fine dust, but more deadly. After an hour of exposure, anyone breathing will start taking 1d2 Con damage every 10 minutes from internal bleeding (A DC 15 Fortitude save negates, but there is a cumulative -1 penalty). Once Constitution damage has been taken, the victim must make suffocation checks every minute; any failure results in beginning to suffocate.
Actions other than simple movement (such as running, combat, etc.) cause the dust to flare up. This causes an immediate Fortitude save vs. Con damage, and once per round checks for suffocation for the duration of the activity and for 2d6 rounds afterwards."
Anyone else ever dealt with this?

OVERWROTE?
Not this time. Not for a long while.
It's already moved along to the going to the printer stage IIRC.
Edit: Of course, the release date being moved back means I'll probably have to wait longer to see the final pdf. Waaah.

Todd, I am trying to keep my old school 1st Edition Daemon power structure intact while still using it with Golarion; as such, I still have Anthraxus the Decayed as the Oinodeamon and Master of the Wasting Tower of Khin-Oin.
How would you incorporate the Four Horsemen in that worldview, besides giving him the titular Fifth Horseman guise that is sometimes bandied about?

Going with a sort of mixed 1st/2nd power structure for the 'loths, overlaying the Golarion Horsemen of the Apocalypse, it would probably work best with Anthraxus as a so-called 5th Horseman, with the Four as unique 'loths in positions of power below him such as Bubonix in Carceri, Helekanalaith in Gehenna, etc.
There's a big giant glaring caveat regarding the whole 5th Horseman thing comparing the daemons to the 'loths, but more on that in BotD 3 (the whole Bound Prince mythology mentioned in 'The Great Beyond' and elsewhere).

I just read the Nightstalker entry in Undead Revisited the other day, which was also written by Todd Stweart.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!
and if BoD3 is even half as good as that entry, this is going to be an utterly amazing book that will devour all our souls :)
Might I recommend Todd's magnum opus for Paizo: The Great Beyond. In the off-chance you don't own it already, you should treat yourself to one of my all-time favorite Paizo books.

I'd glad that you liked that one. I actually think I had more fun with the Devourer entry in that book, but it was a blast to work on both.
And in reply to both you and BenS, I'm actually more proud of how BotD3 came out than TGB (been wanting to do a book like this one for a long, long time). I can't say anything much though till it's actually released. :)

Any idea of the release date on this? Mid-late November as usual?
I want my souldrinker prestige class. >.>
To subscribers the book will ship next week. So, yes, mid-late November sounds good.

That stupid notice drives me nuts. "We're about to ship your books. You're about to get to read your awesome PDFs. Have fun checking your email every few hours for the next week, mwahahaha!"
I'd say I can't wait for this, Todd, but Paizo has ensured that I will be doing just that very thing. Waiting. :)

I downloaded the book last night and read it in one sitting. Thank you to Paizo and Todd! I'm a big fan of daemons, and I've been waiting for Todd to write a book like this since I read his Baernoloth stories on ENworld several years ago. I really can't say enough good things about this book. Thanks!

:D
I've been wanting to write a book like this for years, and now it's out, and I'm pleased as punch.
I can also talk about it now, so without reservation let me say the following: Please please please tell me what you think about it! Let me know what you like, what you don't like, what you want to know more about.
Talk about the book and let me know what to chatter about, because I've been holding out for a while and finally this warding circle has grown weak, so to speak. ;)

Never give a fiend what he wants! Quick! Someone cast dismissal or banishment! Just make sure you hold up a picture of Sean K. Reynolds if you cast the latter. It should increase the DC to resist the effect.
Ok!
casts dismissal on Neil Spicer.

Thanks to tests tomorrow, I've only had a chance to skim through the PDF, but I have to say, nice job. I love finally seeing some attention being given to fiends beyond the standard demons and devils. It's nice to see how their nihilistic culture works, with the emphasis given to how they do constantly experiment and create new life, but with the ultimate goal of destroying it.
Some specific notes:
*In the Texts section, I almost laughed when I saw The Withered Footsteps of the Dire Shepherd as the oldest known text on daemons and other soul-eaters (and I did note that not one mention was made of what the Dire Shepherd is).
*No daemons specifically linked to predation?
*Wait, the preferred sacrifice to a sangudaemon is an intelligent creature being fed to a vampire in the daemon's presence? I thought sangudaemons hated vampires with a passion?
*Vorasha the Ophidian? I really need to read Story Hour 2 (I was holding off until Story Hour 1 was done, but that might be a few years).
Anyway, great job. We can only hope that there is an Abaddon adventure module in your future (or a trilogy, we haven't had one of those in a while).

More response to your comments later, but if you notice a familiar name or two in there, don't necessarily assume it's an easter egg. For instance, while Trelmarixian and Vorasha are inspired by creatures in my home game/storyhour, outside of name and general appearance, they diverge rather remarkably from the originals in a number of ways (the PF Trelmarixian is a much deeper character, different personality etc).
That one daemon associated book, there are perhaps some suggestions to read into there, but not absolutely one interpretation. It might be expanded upon in the future though with new stuff, or a few loose threads that got lost between manuscript and final version.
The sangudaemon thing, I'll have to go back and look at the original draft and see what I put there for sacrifices, since the vampire antipathy was there originally. Something might have gotten changed through the whole process, and if so a clarification is in order. :)

Such a quick turnover rate this time!
Usually, pdfs serve as artwork/bestiary galleries for me, and I wait to read them in book form. Couldn't do that with this one. Couldn't even skip ahead. Mowed through the whole thing. AWESOME.
