The Mayor will look at the Elf Wizard, "Lady Elektra, I trust that you will be successful." The Mayor departs.

Mayor Deverin looks at the Good Sheriff and then the party, "Thank you for all you have done this day. But their are several families that lost loved ones today. I must go to them."

The Mayor turns and leave. As she departs, she looks back at the party, "Please find out why they attacked us. We must know why. If not, then more will likely come and this will not end. At least, find out where they came from."

Mayor Deverin was near. She moves up and speaks, "But why did they attack us? What do we have that they may want?"

As many in the town takes a day off from their normal duties, the local taverns are doing big business. From the White Dear to the North, to the local favorite Risa's Place, to the Hagfish and, of course, the Rusty Dragon, drinks, and good food is had by many.

The Cathedral's bells ring out about mid-afternoon to signal the gathering. The townspeople one-by-one, in various states of sobriety, wander up to the Cathedral's square. The same podium used for the Swallowtail Festival has been erected, singe marks still grace some of the back planks. Next to the platform a familiar-sized object is covered in a giant piece of canvas.

The Mayor addresses the crowd, "Our Heroes and Friends have returned. They have defeated the Goblin Chief Ripnugget and his gathering of Goblin forces. We should not fear another Goblin raid to our fair town anytime soon." The crowd lets out a boisterous cheer!

The Mayor takes a deep breath and continues. The party will note that she does not mention Nualia. "The Heroes have brought us back a trophy, a relic from the long gone days of Thassilonia," she will motion toward Father Zantus standing with a couple of Acolytes. They remove the large piece of canvas to reveal the Giant Gold and Bronze Helm. "We will be mounting it on top of the "Old Light." It should shine for miles in the sunlight as a beacon of hope from the past and for the future." The Mayor has seen terrible things in her town. But she is always positive in her outlook for Sandpoint. She is however totally unaware that the Giant that once wore this helm, also helped to construct what is now called the "Old Light."

At some point during the celebration day, the Mayor with the Sheriff, will speak privately with the party in her office, "The Sheriff has told me about the Sandpoint Devil." She whispers the name, though no one else is around but the party and Sheriff to hear it. "We will give you 3000gp for the giant helm you discovered. It will be a fitting trophy for the celebration. Plus an additional 500gp as a token of our gratitude. Maybe with this you can find what you need to defeat the Sandpoint Devil," again she whispers the name.

Mayor Deverin follows close behind the Sheriff, relief other face, "Of course there will not be another Goblin raid Good Sheriff, our Heroes have returned. A celebration is in order. Tomorrow will be the Heroes of Sandpoint day!"

The Mayor will kindly smile at Shalelu, "Your courage to go after those that would cause us harm is very much appreciated. But please, stay in town until Sheriff Hemlock returns. We are still vulnerable to another raid."

Shalelu will sigh, but shake her head in agreement.

It is getting late in the afternoon. Thistletop can wait for another day. The party will return back to the Rusty Dragon. Ameiko was preparing a hog with cooked apples. Does the party all go to see Brodert Quink the next day?

Day Ten

I assume that the party including Shalelu will accompany Brandark to the Town Hall.

An aide to the Mayor will direct the party to a room on the first floor, Deverin will see party approach, "Oh good, I was hoping you all would come by. I have spoken to the founders and they have agreed that the Quasit will make a good addition to the town museum. We keep important artifacts here. We even have one of Stoot's carvings. It may be the only one to survive the purge." Mayor Deverin will lead the party to a table in the back of the room. A large jar with the body and head of Erylium sits upon it. "I understand that your have its little dress, tiara and dagger. The founders are willing to purchase these items from you to hopefully our mutual benefit." The Mayor will chat briefly with her Aide. "The Town is very grateful for what you all have done. Take this trade as a small token of our gratitude." The Aide will bring in six sacks. In each sack are 75 Korvosan minted Platinum Pieces. "We hope you will consider this a fair trade. Have you had a chance to meet with Brodert Quink?"

Did someone want to talk to me? ;)

As the party returns back up to the Glassworks, they are greeted by Father Zantus and a concerned and frightened looking Mayor Deverin, "Thank goodness that you have made it out safe. Father Zantus has told me about the dead creatures he saw. He said that it may have been some ancient temple. We have an ancient history scholar that lives over near the Old Light. His name is Brodert Quink. He may want to see what you have found."

She seems to quickly regain her composure, "I thank you for your help. The town of Sandpoint thanks you for your help."

Please feel free to add any more dialog about the spherical room, or the collapsed passage way up, or any other post Catacombs of Wrath activities. If you have not already noticed, I have posted a link to update XPs. The party, including Calene are now 3rd Level. In this format I would say that deserves a Congratulation. We can RP the identification, distribution or sale of items found.

"I understand. Thank you," the Mayor warmly shakes Brandark's hand.

End of Day Seven

Day Seven took a month.

A haggard Mayor Deverin will rush in to the Rusty Dragon approaching the remaining party members in the Common Room, "Please hurry to relieve Padre Zantus. We have lost too many. I don't know what this town would do without him." Her voice trails off, "I don't know what I would do without him."

"Of course, by all means, ready yourself. I will make sure to rotate the guards," the Mayor responds to Garrath.

After Kelvin's comment, "I have never seen such a gruesome horror. Those poor people must have suffered greatly. Many of them have lived in Sandpoint their whole life. And Lonjiku, he was an angry man, but he should not have died in such a way. He was an important part of what made Sandpoint successful." She struggles to hold back tears.

My Lady Mayor Brandark exclaims Please for the sake of calm, keep all but the guard out of the glassworks for now.

The problem is under control, but we would like to investigate, and it is easier with less people involved.

If you wish further information, please come see us at the Rusty Dragon after we get lady Ameiko settled.

"Understood. Thank you," she turns and finds one of the guards in the crowd, then leaves.

A couple of hours later, the Mayor arrives at the Rusty Dragon accompanied by Shalelu. She is even more disheveled with tear streaks upon her face.

"Shalelu has told me what has happened. We have guards in the tunnel. But we have ordered them to not go beyond the bend until you can search the tunnels further. We must close this way into our town, and as quickly as possible," frantically the Mayor makes a plea to the party.

Mayor Deverin comes running, "What has happened?" She has a disheveled appearance.

As you inquire of things with the mayor, "Thank goodness the last few days have been quiet. We've been able to get most things back in order. I just ask that you stay with us for a while. Make yourselves seen by our citizens. You give them a comfort." Her manner is sweet an unassuming.

Maybe we should ask the mayor if he needs more help.

I will assume that the party ask the Mayor this question.

"We will need more help. Would you please stay in Sandpoint for a while? I saw what you did this day, she looks around at all the party. "Brave souls like yourselves are precious resources at times like this. We don't know if they will return, and in greater numbers."

The mayor gasp and works hard to hold back tears. She then tells Sheriff Hemlock of the bravery of Sandpoints newfound heroes. Father Zantus and Ameiko Kaijitsu both offer their rousing endorsements as well.

The Mayor raises her head off Lyr’s shoulder with a long intake of air. A continence of composure slowly comes upon the Mayor, though betrayed by the unkempt hair and tears streaks over her dusty face.

With both hands she shakes Lyr’s hand with a gentle, ”Thank you”. Then looking towards the rest of the party, ”Thank you all. Your bravery this day will be known far and wide. I saw everything that you did,” she moves to stand besides Father Zantus. The kindly priest puts his arms around her.

End of Round. End of Encounter.

Lyr Creates Water and puts out the fire on the wooden platform.

Mayor Deverin crawls out from under the platform, dusts herself off in a prim fashion, but to no avail. The unkempt Mayor reaches out to politely shake Lyr's hand, but then breaks down into tears, her head falling onto Lyr's right shoulder.

Mayor Deverin offers a broad smile, "In that case, may I suggest either the booth to the Northeast manned by a Shoanti man. His name is GARRIDAN VISKALAI. He is the proprietor of the White Dear. Or the booth to the Southwest that is manned by AMEIKO KAIJITSU, the owner of the Rusty Dragon. Either of them I am sure can rent you a room if available. Again good sir, enjoy your stay."

After the speeches, Brandark heads back to the inn. "Barkeep, an ale, and a good supper and a room please"

What will be the rate for a room, and a good meal. I know that stabling will be 3 cp/ day.

The Mayor herself sees you leaving the square, and stops you to say, "Please enjoy the games and the local booths. I am sure there is good drink to be found right here."

All the innkeepers with their staff are at the festival. The inns will reopen tonight for guest.

Mayor Deverin speaks again, "Lonjiku Kaijitsu, was suppose to be next, but a sudden illness has prevented him from attending the ceremony. But please welcome our own resident troubadour Cyrdak Drokkus," the Mayors beams with her sweet infectious smile.

It will not be long before you find yourself in a large but crowded open area. A massive shiny new stone Cathedral stands on its eastern side. It would singularly be the most impressive structure in the town, except for a towering edifice that dominates the skyline. You quickly find out from the locals that this massive mostly ruined structure is called “the Old Light.”

In the morning hours, an attractive middle age woman with short cropped hair, standing on a long raised platform begins to speak. Several of you had the pleasure to meet her as she worked the crowd.

"Welcome," she repeats several times before the crowd settles down. "Welcome to the annual Swallowtail Festival. I am Kendra Deverin. I am the Mayor of this humble little town," her friendly attitude and excitement proves contagious as she welcomes visitors and locals alike. She then offers a jokes about how even Larz Rovanky, managed to tear himself away from the tannery to attend. Many in the crowd laughed. Others looked bewildered. Mayor Deverin continued, “Before we begin the fun, food and games, several of our town’s most esteemed citizens would like to say a few word.”

"We have a few, but not many of your kind in our town. You are most welcome here. I am Kendra Deverin, Mayor of our humble little village," she warmly shakes the Dwarfs hand.

As the mayor moves through the crowd she is pleasantly greeted by a lovely Elf woman. "Yes, I am Kendra Deverin, the Mayor," the middle aged woman says almost apologetically with a slight head bow, and a BIG smile. "Thank you for the blessings. May you enjoy all of Sandpoint's charms during your stay."

By the way, I am new to pbp too. I will heavily depend on the experienced players selected for guidance and suggestions during the process.

Town of Sandpoint

As the sun begins to shine on a glorious day in Sandpoint, people are migrating toward the shiny new Cathedral.

A pleasant middle-age woman appears to be working the crowd. She shakes a lot of hands. She holds several different small children in her arms as she goes. And she smiles....a lot.

When she sees a face in the crowd she does not know, she will pause and warmly say, "Welcome to Sandpoint. We hope you enjoy our little town," holding her hand out for a firm yet gentle handshake.

The middle-age woman makes her way toward a raised platform erected in front of the new shiny Cathedral.

Thanks one and all for your submissions. I am in the process now of narrowing down the list. I will be traveling next week. I will have my pad and hopefully Wi-Fi along the way. I will say that this recruitment process has been far more difficult than I imagined. The worst part is that there will be some wonderful PCs that will not get selected.
