Joey, I wanted to say thank you once again! This has been awesome, as I now have 8 players! (I know, I'm a glutton for punishment) However, I did want to ask: you do intend to finish the entire campaign, yes? Also, I am very interested in what you would apply for Mokmurian's permanent spells, and contingency. Thank you again for your amazing work friend!
dotting as I will be starting this campaign in a few months. Thanks ahead of time!!!!!
Dotting. Thanks again Joey!
Joey, just wanted to say thanks again for this! It's been amazing since I'm running a new campaign. Also, if I PM you my email could you send me your remake of Second Darkness as well?
I am starting my second run through of RotRL. We have six party members and this is going to make my life SO easy. Especially since I may be starting nursing school soon. Keep up the excellent work JV.
I love this thread! Dotting for use in my home game. (which will involve the "redemption" of the Runelords and thier alliance with my groups guild to stand against the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods. >insert evil laughter here<)
I am so dotting this for future use. Thank you Ravingdork, this is AWESOME!
Also thank you guys for understanding when I was unable to post die to house hunting, school, and discovering my best friends has cancer. As a GM I know it sucks when one player is sparatic or drops completely. I appreciate the understanding greatly.

I just houserule that you must be the alignment of your deity. I know the paladin was originally the, "Good and honorable knight" class. But I see it as the Holy Knight that must exemplify their deity to a T. Then again, I never actually played DnD. I started with PF and that's just how I always saw them. I also don't let you play a cleric or a paladin without having a deity that your draw power from though. Eh, to each their own.
Just my 2cp, I use the Inner Sea Gods book as who grants paladins and antipaladins their power. They must be that alignment and follow the code listed.
Totes not a player but super stoked to see it back up an running!!! Been reading the game for about half a year now and it's awesome! Good luck Fierce Ones!!
So my players just entered the Runeforge. I have been allowing them sell their loot in Magnimar by hiring a company to transport and sell the large sized loot for a 2-3% cut. I've also allowed then to buy high level equipment by saying it was imported to Magnimar. Now they want to hire a wizard for permanency spells, but I have no idea if there is one in Varisia that can do what they want. Thoughts and suggestions?
He had the mount evolution. He also made it undead with some fluff
So I have a kobold summoner in my groups party. He is riding a huge skeletal dragon eidolon. However, someone told me that you can't ride a mount more than two sizes larger than you. I can't find any rules to support this. I have been allowing him to ride the eidolon but if someone could find the rules I could show him and we can decide from there to apply them or house rule it in his case. Thanks ahead of time!!

Sorry I haven't managed to stat him and make a skill roll or anything yet. I work at a hospital and have been on call this week and we are getting slammed. I really am still very much interested, and once I have him stated on the forums, than making one or more posts a day will be no problem. I'm sorry if I'm slowing the game guys. :/
Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on yet! I'm going to attempt to restat him today (in chunks!) hopefully I will have him up and ready before days end. I'm at work as of now, and have to take my mom to the doc after. But after that I should have time to type it back up. Sorry for being slow. It's my first pbp as well, and in still extremely excited for it! Life just seems determined to slow me down. Thanks for saving my spot wolfwaker! I appreciate it!
Str 6
Dex 14
Con 10
Int 12
Wis 8
Cha 16
Twitchy-
I still had a 16 in Cha. Took the hit to Str and Wis though.
Sorry it's take so long to stat him. Got married this week and have been busy since. I should have him stated up by late tonight\early tomorrow. Apologies again guys. :/
dotting for the age advancements!
What about a fire-blooded sorcerer? How do I make a PC for a PBP? I'm such a noob. :/
Soooo, I've never played a PBP. I am relatively new to Pathfinder, (tabletop rpging in general) I've been GMing for a little over a year now. I would definitly be up for playing. My posts would have to be late (after 8:00 pm EST). What classes are the two players who are still in playing?
Dotting because this looks good!

Paulicus wrote: It doesn't make sense to me that if you leave yourself open enough to provoke an attack from an opponent, that you still have the reflexes to take advantage of their opening left attacking your opening (batting uncanny dodge or something like it).
I'll probably run my games with the idea that you can't usually make AoOs when provoking AoOs. Then again I have a number of changes I'd make to the system.
As someone who has studied swordplay for 20 years and has been in multiple martial weapon battles (both professional and for fun) AOO provoking AOO makes perfect sense. While moving through a space that you could threaten with your weapon you attack me. However, the process of swinging your weapon has precursor movements that a trained eye can catch. This allows me to notice your planned attack, possibly where it is intended, and prepare myself accordingly. If that is to take the offensive and strike at an opening I know you will leave than I can take that risk.
dotting for use of those awesome upgraded stats!

Latrecis, I love that advice! I started that a few sessions ago. I dislike the "there are x amount of enemies here, unless x happens then they are there." Why can't they be anywhere in between? I've been tryin to make it a more living world and told this to my players too. Just because encounter A happens in room 1 doesn't stop the baddies from encounter B from hearing it across the hall in room 2. I had been sticking with where the book said the encounter should be because it felt easier. But after talking about it both my players and I agreed it didn't make any sense that the enemies heard their allies dying, but decided to do absolutely nothing.
Thanks guys!!! I appreciate all the advice. I've used to advanced template for a couple of main enemies this far. I am concerned a bit though because of the party make up. I have a synthesis summoner (I know it's concidered OP but it hasn't been so far. He's actually almost died a few times), a fighter, a hex crafter magus, an earth specialist wizard, a paladin, a normal summoner (this PC is role playing a summoner with an intelligence of 7. Totally not an OP PC. He's the comedy relieve. Played four games and nearly died in two), a bard (no combat help at all. He is completely focused on the out if combat situations. Luckiest PC ever though. He's survived things that should have killed even barbarians!) and your run of the mill heal bot cleric( this guy literally doesn't participate in combat either other than heals or last case scenario inflict wound spells). They are definitely NOT optimized. And the two players who are normally not there are the paladin and the wizard. Should I be as worried about steam rolling them? We've only had one death and it was honestly their fault. A few close calls but no other deaths.
So as stated I'm a new GM. Been doing if for a little over 6 months now. Played in a game for about 3 months before that. Otherwise completely new to Pathfinder, and have only played one other tabletop game before. But, I digress. My game has had a few rocky moments but it's been a blast otherwise. My players are all new except for one player who played 3.5. We are fighting Xanesha next game. I told them a couple of sessions ago that the "tutorial" mode was now off. It hasn't been bad yet. My question however is how should I change my campaign? I have anywhere between 4 and 8 players depending on who's there. It's been averaging around 6. I've added a few baddies from time to time but nothin terrible. And I've added my own encounters and got rid of leveling by XP, instead choosing to follow the guidelines the AP gives. Now with 6 to 8 PCs should I only start adding more baddies or should I maybe stop them from reaching level 18. I mean I know I will have t add enemies but I'm concerned that "tough" encounters will still be to easy. Should I maybe keep them a level or two behind the given level recommendations? I think I'm just repeating info now and this turned out to be much longer than I intended so I'm gonna quit typing now any and all advice is grealy appreciated!!!!!

Been planning on doing this for some time now. But you seem to have put together exactly what I wanted to do! Dotting for interest, thanks!
Looks really interesting. Dotting for later review
I actually didn't punish the character or even consider it. Others players of mine were questioning why I didn't. I felt it was justified but just wanted more opinions. Thanks guys and girls!
So we did the optional BBEG for Burnt Offerings last week and the party handily brought Malfesknor to his knees. When thy finally learned he could talk they were discussing options of what to do with him. He just aske to be set free. The fighter and paladin said no way it will come back to bite us! The summoner let him go but he was hunted down and killed. Now, my question is, while they were talking, after Malfesknor had surrendered mind you, the fighter struck him mid sentence. Now the paladin is a pally of Iomadae. So should she have not jumped to the beasts defenece because he had surrendered? She said that she knew it was evil and it needed to die. But aren't paladins supposed to represent their Gods and Goddesses not cast divine judgement? Thought and opinions please.
So I may be posting in the wrong thread, if so my apologies, by I wanted opinions on a campaign a friend and I are creating. We will be co-GMing a party if 7-9. We thought it would be interesting if we incorporated the First World. Seeing as how it "lays behind" the material and shadow plane I was thinking maybe the 8 eldest had their spirits sealed away and their bodies/power was being used by the 9th eldest. It's all an elaborate scheme to merge the shadow and martial plane but he's using the fey and other eldest to keep eyes off him. By merging them he could them merge them with the First World. Seeing as how he had been banished to the shadow plane he finds a loop hole by merging these planes. The effects could be anything u wanted. Plus I have 8 bosses at least that the party could fight. Interesting or no?
Thanks for the ideas! I've been trying to actually figure out how to prepare them without over doing it. I mean as of now there are 30+ goblins and still 12 goblin dogs. Also, having known the bridge was trapped they started disabling it and were spotted by the guard towers. So now the entire compound is on red alert and the party knows it. But on the contrast there are 8 party members that are all level 3, almost level 4. Do you think putting the worg and a number of goblin dogs in the arena and having the worg cry for help to lead them to a trap will be to much for them to handle? I've also considered maybe having Big Gutmut from the Birdcrunchers be there with some of his men, discussing what to do now that Naulia is dead. Maybe stating him up as a hobgoblin considering he says he's half hobgoblin. Also, Erylium is still alive as well. Although I think I have plans for her reviving Naulia later. So many thought processes!!!!
So my party of 8 just dealt with Naulia and all of her mercenaries. They successfully managed to sneak in and out while only killing the goblin wives and Gogsmurt. Now that they have rested they have decided to return a week later to try and deal with the creature known only to them as Malfesknor. The goblins obviously would have noticed Naulia and Bruthazmas' deaths, and the dissapearce of Orik, Tsuto, and Lyrie. My question is, do you think that Ripnugget, having found out that Gogsmurt died, would finally take him serious and prepare for the return of the people that attacked them? If so, what defenses would he have made. I already intend on the "refugee goblins" to have been intiated into the Thistletop tribe. I'm also considering having a worg recently have allied with them, possibly leading them into a trap in the courtyard since it can talk. Any other thoughts, opinions, etc.?
I have had this talk with him before though. He GMs another game and has the "GM is God" mentality. He is new to the game to though and in his game just makes up DC's and pretty much everything. That's good and fine. But in my game I want to use the rules. But be flexible. That is, to me, being a GM. And everyone else gets that. We are all learning together. Except him. He has adapted the "PC's have no right to try to do something if they don't know what it is" philosophy. And I made a ruling on "once per day" abilities, which he decided to argue with. He's one of my very best friends but he makes me want to murder puppies from time to time. (Disclaimer: no puppies were hurt in the typing of this post)
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place or not but here goes. I'm a first time GM and have only played slightly. One of my new players played 3.5 D&D for quite sometime. He is new to our group and he and I spoke beforehand. We agreed that if he could over look my(quite frequent) mistakes than he could often let me know when I have done something that isn't "by the book." I like the fact that he will tell me if the rule book says something different than I've said. The reason I decided to GM was to learn the rules better after all. However, last game session was...interesting. I allowed the party to don armor hastefully in one round, due to lack of much gaming time. Afterwards, the previously mentioned player informed me that it takes 5 rounds. Now I had already ruled one round and wasn't going to take back a ruling. However, knowing this I plan on following the actual ruling every time after. Before I could let my players know this, one of them jumped down the experienced players throat for correcting me. He basically told him, "I'm going to call bull****. You are trying to GM and you are NOT the GM." Now this really, REALLY bothered me. I didn't even get to tell them that I wasn't going to go back on what I said. Needless to say, I almost killed the player in game.(bad GMing, I know I know) I've talked to this player before about some of his actions towards other players. I don't think he means to be such a prood. But he's also hypocritical. Three rounds later he tried to argue with me that a player could wield both a bow and a punch dagger. Any thoughts on how to approach the situation appropriately and get my point across without killing his PC and telling him to think about what he did?
Ok. Thanks. New GM here and I'm still working out kinks. And that makes me feel alot less crazy...doesn't mean it's true but it makes me feel that way nonetheless.
So there are spells that say they "target one creature or object." There are also spells that "target self or you." Is it possible to target yourself with a spell that targets one creature or object? I mean, logically speaking, I am one creature or object, no?
My player decided to go with a new character. He is now playing a half-orc hexcrafter. Kissiar, having heard of his younger brothers gruesome "accident" has decided to join his friends in the defense of the town of Sandpoint. He hopes to find out exactly who it was that caused the death of his brother. (he doesn't know all the events that happened, nor does he know the party locked him in a room with a sinspawn) Should be fun! Thanks for all the advice folks!
I'm glad to hear that letting him stay at the previous level. I had every intention of that but just wanted to make sure. Also, PC death mid game does put a hamper on things. Since I have a player that reads the forums I can't say much but due to one of my PCs bad decisions there may very well be a TPK. Tis the name of the game however.
