For simplicity, choose one.
Well, that's good. If Twitchy ever decides to try the climb, she'll have a +3 instead of a +2 (with a negative str modifier, str + dex would be less for me than just dex alone.) Dex based actually makes it possible for a goblin of average goblin str to climb. And I'm glad that Ronk will still be able to use his big, bad muscles -- whether for climbing or for piggy revenge.
Ronk Bonk
i am pleased ronk will get to use his muscles too
Twitchy Boom Boom
"The gobs all wait with bated breath
Medge is climbing, we can see,
Will she make it up the tree,
And overcome the stings of bee?
Will she taste sweet victory
Or will she fall to certain death?"
__________
Not much rhymes with death. Bah.
So I will fake it 'til I make it
Torture players (they can take it)
And end here with a great hurrah!

We thank the mighty Wolfwaker
For the gift of this mighty boon
Sadly nothing rhymes with waker
my meager list for that is
backer, taker, faker, and maker!
I tried to reach for the lyrical moon
Twitchy Boom Boom is the rhyming wiz!
But i sound more like a loon!
If i could rhyme without needing a webpage a Goblin Bard would be my next character. And what does that +1 go to?

climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Success!
Medge's eyes burn with determination as she climbs the vines. This time will be different. This time she will prove how awesome she is. This time...she has climbed the tree! She bursts into song as she hits the top.
"Dumb tree thought it was best,
Think no Goblin could beat its test
Well! Now stupid tree is in a mess,
Because brave Medge beat it, she is the best!
Now I sit up here with no frown
Going to take stupid tree and burn it down..wait"
Medge stops to think. She's not here to set things on fire, at least not this time. She's not here for tree, she's here for.."BEES! Medge cries. "I need to jump to bee tree!" She calls down to the other goblins. "Hey! Give me big swamp mojo for this!"
Twitchy Boom Boom
Don't forget the +1 morale bonus (GM gift in appreciation of all our epic poetry!) Also, Wolfwaker nudged you to look at your spells!
________________
Twitchy lets out a great big cheer. She takes off her hat to see better, and her hair sticks out in all directions as she jumps up and down in excitement.
"Medge is up -- Yes, Yes, Yes!
Medge so clever and fearless!
Now make your leap and make it true
(Please don't fall and become goo...)"
Medge the Curious
I figured using animate rope would be cheaty Mccheaterson and make the chief angry. Besides I've got no rope, though I guess the vines could work. But Medge will totally leap to her death out of a tree rather than being called a cheat haha.
Gurp of the Swamp
Gurp slaps his mask in annoyance. "Stupid Medge! Stupid Twitchy! Use thinky-brains!" Gurp smiles smugly. "They say can't use bird to get up. Say nothing about using bird to get down."
Twitchy Boom Boom
"Twitchy already use thinky-brains. She has good memory. Grack say, 'No birdies!' That's no birdies up and no birdies down. He also said, 'No ropes.' But he say nothing about no vines. Use the vine Medge! If nothing else, hang on to it and use it to swing to other tree, not fall!"
_______
I am guessing the DC would be easier, too.
Gurp of the Swamp
Gurp flops on Squishy's back and grumbles to himself. "Yes, yes. Gurp has bad memory. Ignore Gurp. Gurp too stupid to be help. " Still grumbling, he takes out the slug-sacks and goes through them. "Tell Gurp when it over. Gurp sit here and name all baby slugs until then. Lets see...you be Squishy Jr...you be Squishy the Second..."
My bad! I read it wrong.
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy says softly, "Nope, you not too stupid to help. You gave us BIG mojo! And you have scary swamp juju. Maybe you still think of something else."
Medge, you are out range for Gurp's swamp mojo -- so use what you've got!
Medge the Curious
Loopholes!
"Not say anything about vines! True! Medge carefully cuts one of the vines loose. Casting Animate Rope she throws the vine at the pine tree and directs it to tie itself to the tree. "Medge made an easier path!" She looks very proud of herself. "Now, do I climb across...or maybe use more fancy moves!" Medge thinks outloud.
Do I do Climb or Acrobatics to get across?
Twitchy Boom Boom
"Be we goblins or be we not?
Twitchy Boom Boom approves
Of Medge using fancy moves!
Bard, show us what you've got!"
Ronk Bonk
Ronk bounces up and down swinging his bonking stick with glee.
"Fancy moves! Fancy moves!
Dance across the vine
Of this Ronk approves!
Now I will go get me a swine!" he begins to walk towards Squealy Nord with a determined look.
Congrats on defeating the tree. Does it make me a bad person for hoping you would fail again so I could witness Medge flipping out on the tree again?
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy turns to Flamefinger. "Are you ready to do BIG mojo once Medge is down?"
Then she notices that Ronk is already heading towards Squealy. Ah, well. Ronk built for bonking, not waiting. Timing not perfect, but good enough.
She crosses her fingers for Medge's swing.
_____________
You're not a bad person. Medge's tantrum was epic!
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8
Medge makes her way up the tree and prepares to cross. The goblins below are all watching eagerly, some cheering, with others jeering. Grack frowns at the use of the other tree but does not object. Using the vine as a handhold, Medge is able to cross to the other tree safely.
+1 on all skill checks for this event.
Now all that remains is to get the honey. Feel free to use the smoke and/or mage hand.
Twitchy Boom Boom
Given that the GM just said that Medge made it across safely...
____
Grack frowning but not objecting... good.
How's old Gutwad liking this? Twitchy peers at His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad. He be the important one, because he be the one to give us special presents.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 7
(Not on that roll! And I'm not sure that sense motive would count as an event related skill roll anyway.)
Gotta give old fatty face credit... He be a hard one to figure out. Must be why he be chief so long.
Still have to make good show of this, impress him big.
Twitchy narrates for the crowd:
"Medge has defied her doom
Fancy moves beyond belief
All to please our Goblin Chief,
His Mighty Girthness, from whom
All gobbly blessings flow.
Now near the hive Medge does go!
Quieter than a silent tomb,
Smoky stick clenched in her teeth
Lulling bees like tricksy thief
All for our quest for boom!"
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy then smiles at Flamefinger.
"Mightiest Mojo in the Land,
Mighty will be your Mojo hand --
For you a great poem I've planned!"
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Where is Ronk? Is he waiting for bee smoking, or is he attacking Squealy?
Medge the Curious
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Medge pulls out her smokestick and activates it. She puts it right next to the beehive as the smoke billows out. "Medge is the best! She got right to the *cough* nest! And *cough* now she *cough cough* she-" She pounds her chest, smoke shrouding over her figure. I can't sing victory song like this! Bees better hurry up and go to sleep. Medge needs honey!
Ronk Bonk
Precious sleep, this adjusting to a night schedule is kicking my butt! He is going to wait but he can be a little single minded with the bonking.
When Twitchy belts out she poetic words about how the Bees are about to be 'fought' Ronk pauses. It would be mean to steal all of Medges glory of bee slaughter by bonking the bacon now. Once she is down though a bonking I shall go! Ronk walks back up and gets close to the tree for a better view and waits expectantly. He mumbles to himself "All this stealth takes forever!"
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy looks up at the clouds of smoke.
Do the bees look like they are settling?
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
If the clouds of smoke weren't so darn thick, and Medge weren't so far away, maybe Twitchy would know... Unless she can base her knowledge roll off of timing? Or, better yet...
"Flamefinger and Gurp, both of you got BIG ears. Can you hear the bees buzzing anymore?"
Ronk Bonk
Ronk smiles as he finally hears the word he has bee waiting so patiently for is spoken by Twitchy. He runs in the direction of Squealy Nord with his bonking stick raised above him and screams "I will have my vengeance! Ronk will have his bacon! Squealy will learn to never throw a Ronk! For he delivers a mighty BONK"
Is there any sort of obstacle Ronk will need to deal with or do I just attack. And to be noted stopping him this time will be difficult.
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy watches as Medge leaps down upon her signal, and then pushes Flamefinger forward.
"This task's nearly completed!
Now we show our clever scheme
From the greatest Licktoad team
With both bee and tree defeated!"
"Flameflinger comes with magics sublime
Magic so fierce, mighty and grand
He can bring down honey with mojo hand!
He can flame longshanks (most of the time!)"
"So for his Mighty Girthiness,
Reach, Flamefinger, reach!
Bring back honey from the breach
And show our worthiness!"
______
Ronk, I tried to look up the big yell that Twitchy had readied, but the spoiler's stuck shut for me! Oh no! I might have to compose a new rhyme!
Twitchy Boom Boom
Twitchy attempts to watch Flamefinger do his Mojo while listening for clues that Ronk's attack has started.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
(Finally remembering to apply GM gift.)
Not the greatest roll, but hey... Ronk is unlikely to be subtle, right?
Ronk Bonk
stealth sure, bonkning is easier if the foes doesn't see you coming but subtlety... I wouldn't hold your breath.
Ronk races towards his target and makes a running leap to clear the fence
acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21
Ronk Bonk
I am assuming this is enough? Its like it was fated for Ronks revenge... that sounds like a video game title.
Ronk Bonk
YAY! so excited to attack a pig.
Ronk leaps gracefully over the fence that keeps Squealy Nord contained. He lands and raises his bonking stick over his head with both hands and charges while screaming "Time to die Squealy!" Once in bonking range he yells "BONK" and swings
1d20 + 1 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 4 + 2 = 251d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Ronk is charging so that is where the extra +2 on the attack is from
Medge the Curious
When the bees fall asleep Medge whips out her dogslicer, cuts open the nest and pulls out a honeycomb. She holds her prize aloft. "Medge has honey! We win challenge!" Medge waits for Flamefinger's mighty magics to take the honey. From her high perch she sees Ronk going for the Squealy Nord! "Yay Ronk! Get dumb pig...we eat honey ham for dinner!"
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8
Medge successfully retrieves the honey and lets Flamefinger's unseen hand take it, while Grack is distracted by the chaos of Ronk's attack. Now Medge only has to get down before the bees awaken in 1d2 ⇒ 1 rounds.
Acrobatics/Climb to return the way you came, Climb down the pine tree, or deliberate fall at any point (Acrobatics DC15 to reduce effective falling distance by 10').
Squealy Nord, who was resting in the mud, squeals and tries to gore Ronk.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The pig hits him right in the gut with its tusks.
Twitchy Boom Boom
"Bees do not sleep for long,
In that tree Medge does not belong,
Get down as fast as you can,
Getting stung was not the plan!"
Twitchy leaps on Fluffer, ready to rescue teammates if needed.
"Brave Ronk has charged Squealy Nord!
He's attacked the pig, he's gotten gored!
Brave Ronk, set this right --
Don't die, but rage and fight!"
GM, is it time for initiative?
Ronk Bonk
Ronk screams in rage as Squealy jabs a tuck into his stomach.
Ronk will rage and attack again do I just do that again? Not sure how combat works in by post.
Twitchy Boom Boom
Wolfwaker, can we roll initiative for others in the party too, or are we all too far away? How far away are we, actually?
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8
If you like. You are at the base of the tree, 120' from the pig pen.
Twitchy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Medge: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Gurp: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Order will be
Squealy
Medge, Gurp, Twitchy, Ronk
To speed things along, I will do block initiative, which means you can post in any order as long as there are no enemies in between. And if the order matters, like if Medge is going to start a performance, I will try to resolve that in the most favorable way. Or you can just say your character waits for Medge to go. (But you can go ahead and post your action before Medge.)
I hope that makes sense, I'm trying to minimize the time spent waiting for others to post.
Flamefinger
Flame finger catches the honeycomb and smiles up at Medge. Moves quickly Medge! Bees not sleeps forever! Flamefinger does his best to listen for the sound of buzzing.
so I'm at work and the only mechanics I can remember are bold and italic. So until I get home I can't roll perception. Unless our kind and gracious GM wants to roll it with my +10 modifier? :D
Medge the Curious
The buzzing from the hive becomes louder. "Yikes! Time to go!" Medge takes off back to the other tree. She grants herself a bit of luck before making the leap.
Using Archaeologist's luck
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Medge makes the leap across to the other tree. She throws a fist in the air in celebration once she lands. She then begins climbing down.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
It takes her a few tries before she makes it to the bottom. Once there she does a short victory dance. "I got it done, it was real fun, no one can best me! Not even stupid bees!" Medge sings. "Now it's time to help Ronk Bonk!"
Twitchy Boom Boom

Okay, can I act now, or does Squealy come before me? Also, can we roll initiative for Flamefinger? I don't think you have him written up in your GM block yet.
If I can act now...

Medge's down! Good. Now to save Ronk Bonk, thought Twitchy, What if he DIE following my plan? Okay, really... Attacking Squealy was ONLY plan that Ronk want, but still Twitchy not want Ronk to die.
If he die, his ghost likely come back and bonk Twitchy... And maybe Twitchy deserve it.

Twitchy kicks Fluffer into a double move. That's 70 feet towards the pig pen.
She's still too far out of range for her bombs, but she is just in range for sling.
Ranged Attack Sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
But not on that roll.... A bullet goes whizzing past Squealy.
Twitchy Boom Boom
Forgot to do ride and handle animal rolls!
Ride: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 4 = 25
Why couldn't I have gotten one of THOSE for my attack roll? I suppose it's better than falling out of the saddle... How often do you want me to roll these, Wolfwaker?
________
Edited to add +4 for animal companion link... Not that it mattered with a roll so high!
Ronk Bonk
AHHH! I spent the feat and forgot to use it! Ronk will take the AoO and I use the damage though I will try to roll with it and probably fail. I believe raging is a free action, correct?
Squealy Nord charges Ronk and he stubbornly (and foolishly) stands his ground. Now is Ronks time glory! As Squealy Nord gets closer to Ronk he swings his mighty bonking stick
1d20 + 4 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 - 4 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
if the trample hits Ronk will roll with it, so I just have to beat the damage. my acrobatics in advice

Medge makes the leap across to the other tree. She throws a fist in the air in celebration once she lands. She then begins climbing down.
Technically the result of 5 should be a fall since it fails by 5 or more (exactly in this case). The rules give you a chance to catch yourself but this is neither a wall nor a slope. I'm going to make a judgement call here and say you are able to slow your fall by grabbing onto vines but still take 1d4 ⇒ 2 damage.
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8
initiative Flamefinger: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Tied with the pig, I'll house rule he goes first since his initiative bonus is higher.
The enraged pig tries to trample Ronk.
overrun: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
With his defenses down from the charge, that is enough to knock him down.
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
He manages to get in a good smack as he goes down. Squealy Nord is badly hurt but still enraged enough to continue the fight.
Ronk 4/13 HP
pig ?/?
Twitchy flies in but her stone flies over the head of the pig and it does not even notice.
Twitchy--no need to do it every time. Looks like your H.A. is good enough to make the simple checks (known tricks) automatically. You should make a handle animal roll to have the bird attack something, and a ride to stay in saddle if you or the mount take damage, or do some other stressful maneuver. (I reserve the right to fiddle with these requirements later.)
Twitchy Boom Boom
Okay. Let us know who's up next. If I can throw a bomb at that pig, I will... But I want to give others a chance to act too.
