M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Agreed. Thanks so much DSP. It was fantastic. I'd love to hear from ya if you start another. Good luck with everything.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

It certainly seems that way. It's too bad. This was a great setting with great folks and DM. It was a pleasure playing with you all.

If anyone finds a new game and wouldn't mind me tagging along, let me know!

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Roaring with pleasure at the hurts he inflicted, Osslend swings at the foul creature again as Virgil snaps out.

crunch:

Osslend:
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 79
Att: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Dam: 1d8 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + (6) = 17
Holy Dam: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 81
Att: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Dam: 1d8 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + (6) = 17
Holy Dam: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

Virgil:
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 25
Att:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Dam:1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (1) = 7
Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Wow...look at all the 1's I rolled!

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Holy does an extra 2d6 and bypasses DR. So...
2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Reflex Save for Virgil: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Shaking off the fear, Osslend growls in frustration and charges across the room at the fiend, his holy mace aglow.

Virgil, reeling from the hit but tough as nails, darts in to accompany his master and bites out at the vile creature.

crunch:

Osslend:
Att:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Dam: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + (6) = 17

Virgil:
Att:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Dam:1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 5 + (5) = 18
Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Sorry, forgot what holy does, so please add that into Osslend's attack, too. Can't look it up right now. :(

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Still interested. Having a rough patch irl right now, as it sounds others are. Lost one of my cats yesterday and it's hitting me pretty hard. On top of it, my wife lost a relative the same day, so now she's out of town.

So, still here and still interested.

That said, I'm also feeling that my character isn't all that effective but I could just be bummed that he hasn't performed very well recently. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend turns pale white before turning and running from the room, a low, hoarse scream coming from his throat.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Weird...I posted my will saves yesterday...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend dashes in behind Brynn and scans the room.

1d20 ⇒ 9

Cecil said wrote:
"Do we really just want to wander in and play by it's rules? Perhaps we should make some sort of plan."

Osslend's scowl turns into a look of surprise. "Certainly not, Master von Spirito. I'm angry, but not reckless. I simply meant to imply that we should figure out our plan of attack rather than stand around and mess with these minions any longer. As one who has no expertise in the likes of a lich, I fear I have little to add to a plan, but I certainly want a plan."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Once the remaining guards are bound, Osslend turns to his companions. "Let's be on to this damned lich, then."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Seeing the last guard, Osslend swings at the man, turning his mace as much as possible to blunt the blow. Virgil joins his master, but Raleigh stays back, watching the field.

Non-lethal

crunch:

If I don't need to move, 3 attacks (haste). If I have to move to get to him, just use the first and third.:
Attack:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Dmg:1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Dmg:1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
(haste)Attack:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Dmg:1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Virgil:
Attack:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Dmg:1d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (4) = 13
Trip attempt:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Still chiding himself for setting this awful scene into motion with his thoughtlessness, Osslend looks around for how best to help.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

DOH! Not my intention. I thought that they had come back to the rest of the party. Re-read and realized that only Shinami did. Totally misunderstood that.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Testing his mace against his hand to find the least lethal way to swing it, Osslend nods and pats Owen on the back as if to tell the creature to start the attack.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

At the gruesome sight of the man impaling himself, Osslend turns away, apparently choking back bile.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Rushing into the room, Osslend throws all his muscle behind a blow aimed at the nearest guard.

Meanwhile, Virgil and Raleigh move to flank another unattended guard, doing their best to shred the man with their teeth.

Crunch:

Osslend Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 for 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 damage with the holy mace.

Virgil:
Attack:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 damage
Trip:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Raleigh
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage
Trip:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Reading the scrawls, Osslend nods before pointing to Brynn for a plan.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

I'll probably play it, but I usually wait a few weeks after an MMO launch to join so that I can let the developers get those first few patches in when the flood of people inevitably find initial problems.

Besides...Skyrim still calls. Beat the main story line and immediately started a new character. Already finding tons of new stuff.

The Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood stories are fantastic.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Stealth: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
Stealth: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
Stealth: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

<----dumbass. Sorry.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Not to be a jerk...but Brynn mentioned he was going wield his holy mace and shield...not keep his big sword out. So that 2d6+17 becomes 1d8+ (something smaller because of power attacking with a 1-hander instead of a 2-hander) no?

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend will rush whichever guard Brynn isn't rushing as soon as the signal is given. The hounds will hang back.

Att: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Dam: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Gritting his teeth, Osslend snarls, "Did the Duke's wizard set us up? Send us to this alarm on purpose?"

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Motioning for his hounds to move behind him, Osslend secures the grip on his new shield and flexes his hand on the hilt of his new holy mace and nods his readiness to the others.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Sensing the Duke's discomfort, Osslend clears his throat. "Maybe we should get this show on the road, eh?"

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Actually, both hounds are already wearing +1 chain shirts which are better than +3 bracers...so scrap that. I guess someone else can have the bracers. Man...I haven't gotten any decent, usable loot. Oh well.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

I had temporarily forgotten that...any way I can fit them to a hound?

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Just need to strap on the shield, the new bracers and the new holy mace and Osslend and crew are set.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend ponders. "I'm not very good at this stuff but I think we want to weed out vagueness, right? So maybe, 'Will they be expecting us when we teleport into this place?' I can see how 'trap' by be vague. I like the other question you asked, Kayla."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Rolling for +5 bracers (come on dice, you stunk it up for me in the last eq bid, do better now!): 1d100 ⇒ 51

If I lose (and I suspect I will) I'll choose the +3 instead.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

As awesome as the belt is, I'm more concerned about my AC right now, so I'll bid on the +5AC bracers. Brynn, if you currently have a spiffy belt that won't need after getting that one, I happily take hand-me-downs. :)

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Blinking away his initial surprise, Osslend nods. "Aye, a good man. We'd not be alive without him."

Osslend offers the man a smile and, after a moment, continues. "We trust you to pick those who will accompany us. Let's do that and be on our way."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Eyes wide, Osslend says, "...gods be good...you look just like him."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

"Oh, just the toughest thing you can spare that's not too big," the houndmaster says, using his hands to approximate a shape in the air before him. "You know, tough but mobile."

Not a tower shield. Otherwise, best he can spare.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend holds his two-handed flail, then seems to mime holding a mace with his right hand. Then suddenly seems to realize something and says, "Duke...would you have a shield I could borrow?"

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

I'd definitely take a +1 Holy Mace to kick some undead butt.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Either myself, Brynn or Shinami, I'd think.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend's face wrinkles as he speaks to the Duke. "I'm more pleased than ever that politics mean little and less to me. I don't know how you sit on your hands while such a thing happens, though I respect your restraint in doing so. We gladly accept any help you offer."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Nodding, Osslend says, "Yes, honesty is the best policy. Besides...if it comes back to bite us in the asses later, we can just lie then and declare that we never told this Duke that we were agents."

Osslend winks and begins to suit up.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend nods, smiling from the agreeable reactions of his companions. "I know it's only because you're tired, but I'll take it." With that, Osslend removes his armor and calls the hounds to share his bed to warm him. Within moments snoring can be heard from man and beast alike.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend waits until the man leaves and the door his shut before he turns to his companions. "Damnit to hells. I hadn't intended for us to be interrogated by some commander. Well, we'd be decide on a story. We can stick to a 'random minotaur attack,'" he says, fingers bending in the air.

He sits roughly on a bed. "I guess we could tell them about the other army but I doubt they could do much and that would reveal ourselves as Pollexian agents."

He sighs and shakes his head. "My apologies, friends. I may have gotten us in some trouble here."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Glancing to his companions quickly, Osslend responds, "We were attacked. Huge beasts, like bulls they were. Harried us at our camp. We were lucky to escape with our lives."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Exhausted, frustrated and tired, Osslend lifts his hands and opens them wide to the man. "Travelers, that's all we are, sir. Tired, weary and road-worn, sir. We simply wish to sleep and feel safe again as we have not felt this day."

Osslend drops his hands and looks the man squarely in the eyes. "If you will not grant us this respite by allowing us in the city, then I believe that I may collapse right here, near the warmth of your torches and you can watch me sleep this very night."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend nods. "It tastes bitter, but yes, retreat seems called for."

When we do, Osslend will do his best to cover their tracks.
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Crying out at the sudden freezing sensation, Osslend backs away. "What is happening?!"

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

"I long for sleep as much as anyone, however, I'm not sure we can stay here. If those two knew where we are, the rest of the army might as well."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Having been roused from sleep, scrambling to put on his armor, Osslend reaches the cliff's face and sees the dead minotaurs. He turns to Shinami and nods. "Nicely done."

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend slips into the wilds, looking for a nice, hidden spot to hole up for a few minutes while they recover and discuss the happenings of the battle as well as examine the corpses.
