With a wave of his hand and a moment of concentration the base of the pit moves toward the surface eventually re-merging with the floor as though it was never present.
"Do we really just want to wander in and play by it's rules? Perhaps we should make some sort of plan."
Osslend's scowl turns into a look of surprise. "Certainly not, Master von Spirito. I'm angry, but not reckless. I simply meant to imply that we should figure out our plan of attack rather than stand around and mess with these minions any longer. As one who has no expertise in the likes of a lich, I fear I have little to add to a plan, but I certainly want a plan."

"Any ideas?" Cecil asks earnestly, his body language indicating that he doesn't
"All is for naught unless we can obtain and destroy the lich's phylactery. It is where it keeps its soul, and is the source of it's undeath. What we need is an idea of what we are walking in to. a layout of the room, who and what will be waiting for us, other than the Lich. Someone needs to scout ahead."

You can whisper messages and receive whispered replies. Those nearby can hear these messages with a DC 25 Perception check. You point your finger at each creature you want to receive the message. When you whisper, the whispered message is audible to all targeted creatures within range. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal (or a thin sheet of lead), or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks the spell. The message does not have to travel in a straight line. It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path’s entire length lies within the spell’s range. The creatures that receive the message can whisper a reply that you hear. The spell transmits sound, not meaning; it doesn’t transcend language barriers. To speak a message, you must mouth the words and whisper.
"Alright, so Brom and I will scout ahead and we'll whisper what we find to Cecil? This sound like a plan? Hopefully you can use the information we relay back to you to come up with a strategy."
Your band of people spend the next hour moving down the stairs and back into the catacombs. Brom and Shinami disappear through the low door. Stealth and perception please Shinami.
Shinami and Brom creep down the cooridoor and peer out to see a dimly lit cavern which sports a barren island dominating a small, black lake. In the center of the island is a lone, robed figure. The cretures head turns and eyeless sockets look right at you!
"Come in. Serve in your death!"
Shinami, make a Will Save
Brom's Will Save1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Brom's eyes glaze over and he walks straight toward the creature!
If you check the map, you'll see Brom is 10 feet from the fiend.
Shinami whispers "Cecil, I hope you can hear this, but Brom looks like he just got mind controlled and there's an island down here in a black lake and there's a lone creature on it. I think it's the lich. Come up with a plan quick please!"
Sorry, still here. Eventually I'll go see a doc about why I keep getting sick.
I'll wait for Cecil to relay what the message is and then post an action.
