Something intangible shifts in the room when Leela brings to the torch to the city. There is a slight hum in the air before motes of light burst out of the carved buildings and streets. The lights circle around Leela and spread out until they touch the rest of the group before fading away as quickly as they appeared.

For his part Uri barely reacts; he’s clearly seen this happen before. The Gillman clears his throat and says “Admit a shortcoming or a failure. Something that humbles you. The Beggar one, it is a good lesson.”

Aurora Borealis: Cult survivor turned Explorer

Background: Aurora was born on a small space station out in the proverbial middle of nowhere. The station was home to the Movement of the Hidden Skies. The group’s prophet proclaimed that humanity was in a secret war with hidden invaders from another galaxy and that the only way to survive was to keep to themselves. The children were raised in special isolated environments and trained for the role they were supposed to hold once the secret war was over and humanity had to rebuild itself from the ashes. Aurora is highly intelligent and was chosen to be a scholar, a living encyclopedia.

Taking a genius and forcing them to pour over the collected knowledge of humanity is not a great way to keep your lies hidden. Once Aurora realized it was a sham she started working to bring it down. Being kept isolated didn’t give her a lot of ways to prove what she knew. The computers in her room were her real connection to the rest of the station, so she taught herself how to hack into them.

Aurora collected evidence of the leadership’s duplicity; tithes being spent on secret luxuries, news from the outside being changed or doctored and on and on. The ‘invaders’ that attacked on a regular basis turned out to be a mercenary group hired to make the whole scam more convincing. When that last one was made public it sparked a riot. Angry survivors dumped the old leadership out an airlock and declared the Movement dead.

That was three years ago. The group’s been slowly rebuilding themselves ever since. They’re still quite isolated which is what drove Aurora out into the wide world. She wants to acquire more knowledge for the group; what’s going on with the rest of humanity, what new discoveries have been made etc. Aurora doesn’t follow a set path but wherever she goes, whatever she does, she always reports it back to her home station.

Flaws: Aurora’s had very little experience out in the real world. It makes her naive about many things. Her logic is also very unusual. At best it means people see her as weird/odd/crazy. At worst she’s getting in trouble because “You can’t really own something, the particles that make it up are as old as the universe, it’s been a million things already and it’ll be another million after we’re dead, we’re all ephemeral” is not the kind of argument that gets you out of jail. But she’ll be absolutely mystified when it doesn’t work.

I have a Warpriest idea I've been sitting on. Would you take one with the Sacred Fist archetype? Thematically she'd be a brawler type fighter instead of a monk.

For those of you playing this campaign, what do you guys think you need the most? I have a couple of ideas for this game and I'd like some help narrowing them down ;)

Citrine is wary of said technology. I mean it sounds useful and she definitely wants to use it to study outerspace. But as an ex-cop she'll look at this stuff, imagine all the things it could do in the wrong hands, and feel like smashing it with a hammer.

Yeah I'd really like to go with Stargazer. I think it fits her well since she's a servant of Desna and Desna's so tied to the night sky.

AS it stands this group is pretty well rounded. We've got a frontliner, an arcane caster, a flexible trap spotter and a healer that smashes things with a hammer. I'd be more inclined towards characters that are not androids/don't use guns since we have two of each but that's just me.

I think we could use a party face and a skill monkey. If both roles are filled by the same character that's great.

Let me make sure I've got this right. I'm building a Gnome Nightblade. Since Gnomes are 10rp I can "buy" her racial traits to get 15rp. Can I remove one of her racial traits in order to buy more? Basically I want to toss one of her racials so she drops to 9rp and I have 6 points to spend on traits I want.

Oh gosh. I get to choose between Davi and Mirode? It's like having to choose between my kids. I would really love to get feedback from you guys. Mirode would seem like the obvious choice since we don't have a divine caster but Davi has so many good hooks for this campaign plus she's just fun to write. Is anyone taking the Heal skill?

My name is Becca, I'm 28 years old. No husband or kids just cats lol. I live in Southern California and I work for a CPA who is also my best friend's mom. I've been playing Pathfinder for a couple of years. I started out with a small group of friends but we sadly can't play together anymore so I turned to PbP to fill that void. I've been loving the PbP format, it's great for roleplaying.

Outside of Pathfinder I love video games and I read a ridiculous amount of books. God bless the LA library system for lending books digitally!

Heehee. I've got five I play in and one I DM. I know I've got eight listed as being 'active' but the Hookscratch Inn is inactive and the Save/Rule the city ones are two sides of the same campaign. Plus the one I DM is just me and a friend playing so it should only count as half a campaign ;)

Yeah, Mirode's family is still in Oregent. Heh, in the situation you described Mirode would have allll the guilt. She'd have to head up some Ogre Liberation group in response.

That background would be really interesting for Davi. If you pick her I'd really like to do that. Tomorrow I'll clean her up and expand the fluff

She belonged to an RP campaign that fizzled after the DM went inactive. I'd have to clean her up a bit and redo her gear. On the plus side the old campaign shows off her personality
