Elijah, was like his father Ezekial in every way. He loved nature, and spent many of his days and nights in the woods outside their humble little home. They both would help people navigate the path through the woods, protect them from animal or other environmental threats such as poisonous mushrooms or fauna. The big difference was Elijah had a desire to do something more, then just be a local guide.

While visiting the nearby town, he met an adventurer, Ciff. He told Elijah, that he was a ranger, someone who loved the natural world and fought to protect it. Elijah, was entranced by the notion of being bale to explore the vast world around him, and still getting to become "in tune" with it. He left his home, and convinced Cliff (after much begging and pleading and general annoying behavior) to teach him to be a ranger like him.

After a good 3-4 years of training, Cliff felt Elijah was ready to strike out on his own. Elijah absorbed as much knowledge and wisdom and experience as he could, then he returned home to father...whom had passes away but a few months before he returned.

Elijah, devastated that he wasn't there for his ailing father was down on himself. He took to the bottle, and pretty hard. He had too much to drink, and passed out one night in the rocking chair at his father's house.

When he awoke the next day, with a splitting headache from the booze, he found a note tucked away in one of father' favorite books about plants. He gently plucked it from the book and read it, Elijah, I am so very proud of you. You struck out on your own, like any father would want their son to do. I just wish you the best in life...Love Ezekial

Elijah, gathered himself, and after a few days of sobering up, he set out on adventure. He found himself in a land, he wasn't familiar with. He had no way of knowing the winds would pick up the way they did, even though the sky hours before didn't have a cloud in the sky. He sought refuge in an old abandoned house, and waited for the winds to pass. Little did he know, there were others like him, trying to make the best of the bad weather situation.

Curiosity got the better of him, and he started to poke around the house. Little did he know the tales of the house were less then happy and more sinister then he could imagine.

Still shopping to do, but basics are there.

** spoiler omitted **

You are not too late, if you can get something up before tomorrow, if that is too soon, sorry, but feel free to observe.

Sorry to have left this unclarified for so long, Max Gold plus 20

Characters are not escaping the mansion for quite a while, so stock up is necessary

Good to know about the increased gold amount (I had assumed average +20), but given that, is it alright to get potions/scrolls?

The concept is thoroughly unsound. It fits though.

Poor insane fool indeed. It is settled, then. I'll start fleshing out the details.

@The Friendly Lich- Golarion, for simplicity sake

Sorry, what I meant was: where in Golarion are we? (Cheliax? Thuvia? Galt? etc.)

Death_Keeper wrote:

Additional Rules
Do not use the [dice=] equation. use instead. If you use [dice=] when quoted, the expression is broken.

Hide dice inside spoilers please,

I'm a bit confused by this. Firstly, how do I roll the dice then? [ooc]1d20 doesn't give me any dice result.

Secondly, if we are to put dice rolls in spoilers, breaking the formatting wouldn't matter anyway, because a spoiler that is quoted is turned into "** spoiler omitted **... " anyway.

JohntheVast wrote:

Only Level 1 potions and scrolls are available

The Friendly Lich wrote:

Avistan, somewhere in the river kingdom

Okay, to clarify further. the [dice] expression is okay, the expression [dice=] is not because it produces insane results. use [ooc}climb, stealth, fortitude save...[/ooc] [dice]1d20[\dice]
but you are right, if you all hide dice inside spoilers it won't matter

As an edit to the above post, There is no crafting allowed before the game begins. Doubling the number of scrolls and potions and alchemical mixes is just a little OP... So please bear with me

Crunsh should be done (let me know if I forgot anything).
Fluff and shopping still to do.

Concerning the food: Can I get 2 barrels of water and trail rations for 100 days into the house? (I don't want to carry these with me all the time, but maybe leave them in the common room or something)

Edit: back-story and shopping done, assuming it is somehow possible to get the stuff delivered to the doorstep for 4 SP or less. If not let me know and I'll change it.

There is no way I would say no to buying food and water if you can tell me how you would carry them to the house.

None of the villagers would dare to drive a cart to the house, and you don't own a pony.

A single barrel of water weighs 690 lbs. Two are 1380 lbs total. and an additional one hundred pounds of food is quite a weight to bear.

I'll allow one barrel, empty, which you used as a container to carry all of your equipment, strapped to your back with lengthy leather strips, And you set it up outside to fill with water. Then you can add in as many rations as you can carry.

Is that fair?

And feel lucky. You are the only person who is getting away with that much food and water... you were the only person insane enough to /WANT/ to go to the haunted place

Silver Crusade

Gonna be straight up death, the rogue idea has hit so many walls back story wise I'm nigh on giving it up and submitting something else. Just can't get the juices going.

Because the more I think about it, the more I want to submit my fledgling wizard that came to the house looking for secrets of necromancy and because of rumours of a powerful ring held within that belonged to the late Baron.

Rorek55, I understand how you feel, but I am sorry. One of our players is already a wizard and another is already a cleric, so the spellcaster aspect of our party is pretty full already.

Another thing that I am hesitant on is the fact that we already have a character who actively sought out this place. I thought that was a unique idea and quite interesting and I would not want to devalue that by having multiple people with that outlook.

I planned on all of the characters being forced together into this place against their will with strangers and everyone having the desire of just escaping from the manor.

I don't have a problem with there being a second wizard submitted, and I will leave it up to the other applicants as to whether they would like a second wizard, but you would not have sought out this place, you would have been forced into the place unwillingly by the storm. We also do not have a dedicated ranger/fighter/monk/rogue(now) if any of those positions interest you.

My guy is a ranger :)

Javell DeLeon- Cleric, incomplete as of yet.

JohntheVast- Wizard, Complete as far as I can tell.

Rorek55- Rogue

Sedoriku- Paladin(?), incomplete as of yet.

The Friendly Lich-Bard, Complete as far as I can tell.

Githanis Ranger, incomplete as of yet

Silver Crusade

If the group is OK with it. I have a character that I had originally made for mummy mask, however over the months he was changed into a more open ended wizard.

If not, I'd still like to play as the concept intrigues me.

Do it like this, Make your wizard, and then make a character in another class, such as fighter or barbarian, so if they say no you have something you could play instead.

Silver Crusade

A frady cat barbarian...heh. Sure.

Question, my wizard still has the Trap finer trait from MM. Would you want me to remove it?

yes please.

Death Keeper, I'm gonna have to respectfully back on out. Sorry for any inconvenience. Outside of some personal matters, I'm just not finding the energy for it at this time. And I've no desire to bring down a game because of it. That just wouldn't be right.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Javell

I understand, Thank you for the notification. Feel free to keep an eye on the thread.

Silver Crusade

I suppose I could do a cleric. Or an oracle. I can easily take the wizard concept and work it from a divine angle.

I'm still in, but I really don't like the idea of going into a decrepit (probably haunted) mansion without a cleric or a rogue. I'm not dead set on being a wizard, and I'd be willing to work out a deal. I am willing to play as either, but I will not play as a cleric if I cannot be a non-deity specific cleric (that is, I would be a good cleric that channels the powers of good, and has his own personal beliefs, but would not have a deity. I would be flexible with regards to what domains would be available to me.)

Cleric is open now so I don't have a problem with you playing one of those, but remember, necromantic clerics cannot heal without preparing it. Also I dislike evil players and you will not have sought out the mansion. Oracle is not from core rulebook and is disallowed.

Actually, Rorek and John, if you two wish to switch,

John takes the cleric (I like the non-diety specific cleric)

And Rorek wants to take the wizard

I would be okay with that.

Okay, I will get started on a cleric.

John, I can't send you a PM so on the subject of Domains, as a non-deity specific cleric. You MUST have Good as a domain. and any other domain you wish (within reason... no evil, no death or destruction, no madness or scalykind... be reasonable or have a good argument for one)

Silver Crusade

Wouldn't have been a evil character, just neutral with positive channel. But alrighty then wizard!

Javell DeLeon- Resigned

Rorek55- Rogue Wizard, incomplete

Sedoriku- Paladin(?), incomplete as of yet.

The Friendly Lich-Bard, Completed

Githanis Ranger, Completed

Plus me! I'm working on my fighter right now. We seemingly don't have anybody that can pick locks yet. I will happily make a fighter with disable device, this seems like a good campaign to try something odd :3

Hello Feth,

A fighter with disable device is a fighter with an axe I say. :D You can put ranks into the skill too... I guess... :P We will be glad to have it.

Posted as Gilthanis

Elijah, I love the backstory, especially the in-game detail of favored enemy animal, but there is one bit I want you to remove. Please remove the detail about the house it isn't necessary and I feel it detracts from the character... It will be played out in character at the beginning of the campaign :D

My wizard will actually be proficient in that. (albiet, without being able to pick magical traps, yet)

Ah well, that give me a chance to put that skill point in something equally weird

Silver Crusade

Death_Keeper, I figure its a no, but I wanted to be sure, no subschools for my wizard correct? and no elemental schools either yes?

Just hope that the wizard (with the fewest hit dice, and probably a low con) doesn't mess up on the disable device roll. ever

:D

I will put that into the same field as archetypes for the moment

Silver Crusade

oh one more thing, would you allow the PFS option of swapping scribe scroll out for spell focus?

Silver Crusade

Feth wrote:

actually, perhaps scratch that, I can't find the trait I was thinking of... the only one I have found doesn't fit the character unfortunately.

@Scribe Scroll for Spell Focus
I think that is acceptable.

okie dokie, here is a mostly completed wizard for you to look over. I have yet to decide his school, either evocation, conjuration, illusion, or divination.... (I know its a lot)

and will probably change some of his known spells.

You have 7 spells to choose. 3 from wizard, 4 from intelligence. not nine

@Death_Keeper

I am planning to use a combination of fire and good domains. Here's the basic premise:

Character Beliefs:

Core Belief: The goodness of love is what drives, and it's this fiery passion that is the reason for living: not gold, nor fame, nor achievement, nor any other thing is worth the fight for each breath. Whether it is love for spouse, or family, or friend, or a general compassion for all, we should each, out of love and respect for one another, aid each other in pursuit of these worthy goals.

- The injury or killing of a person/being/creature that does not pose a threat to the life or ability of another person/being/creature to strive for life and/or love is wrong. Creatures of animalistic intelligence can be killed for food and livelihood, but not for sport or entertainment.
- To defile the grave with necromancy is despicable, as it is wrong to use the loved one of another as a tool.
- Detaining a living creature with intelligence beyond that of an animal for reasons other than law and protection of others is deplorable, excluding the relationship of parent and child.
- Neither theft from the living or the honored places of the dead, nor lying are permissible: the truth ought to be told unless it endangers others, and theft dishonors the wishes of others. Loot taken from treasure hordes is fair game so long as it is not left in memorial.
- The sanctity of marriage, respect for the laws of good lands, and fair treatment of the young and old are also required.

sorry, I'm still updating it a bit, it has been fixed haha.

John, sounds good so far, (just express your displeasure without playing a 'bad pally') , I can't wait to hear the rest.

I will also be adding in a familiar to my wizard, a raven most likely.

Vinnick Varzel wrote:

Don't forget to remove the ring from your character history. Also the one spell per day from the arcane bond

yup, gonna hurt lower levels but I have grown quite fond of Familiars.

Are there restrictions on what we can buy with our gold? I'm not sure if you'd be ok with me bringing in an Everburning Torch for example

Try to be reasonable, you are travelling from one village to another, and you are only a starting adventurer... try to keep away from magic other than potions and things like that. I am trusting you guys to be reasonable, and if I come across something that I dislike, I'll say something.

I would prefer no Everburning Torch.

Hahaha I figured as much but you can't blame a girl for trying!

oh, yes he can. :P
