I think you have an obligation as a capable player of helping smooth out the various roles in the party, but I don't think healing is so necessary if your DM if fine with having wands of CLW around. That being said, I don't believe you have any obligation to do something you don't want to do. If you'd enjoy playing some variation of a divine caster that could help close the gap in the party's abilities, that's great!
As far as healing goes with the addition of channeling to clerics and oracles of life for the occasional in-combat healing, your party is not likely to go wanting for healing if you do end up playing either.

As for my 2 cents about an interesting character idea that can be a lot of fun to play a dual cursed oracle of Life has some fantastic support capabilities, such as the misfortune mystery which in actuality allows you to "force" all of your allies to reroll a terrible roll in a critical moment once per day, while getting access some of my favorite low levels pathfinder spells such as Ill Omen as a 1st level mystery spell, and Embrace Destiny as a 1st level spell. If you can grab some nice 3.5 spells to an oracle's casting list, you could make a very flavorful but powerful support caster. The spontaneous casting lets all of your spells be possible cures, restoration line, and later even breath of life.
I'm currently playing a gestalt homebrew game with a halfling oracle of life/luck inquisitor who has the helpful trait with bodyguard and combat reflexes and the character is a blast to play.

Howdy folks, I'm setting this up both for our gameplay as well as for my own organizational purposes to help supplement our table top game. I'll be having you all create accounts with paizo so you can all have characters here, and I'll be having aliases for each of the major NPCs and any of them who become important to you!

And so our tale begins with a new caravan setting out to Brinewall from the small town of Sandpoint...

There, now everyone needn't be beholden to Lem's telepathic touch. See you all tomorrow!

Awesome. Let me know how and when you'd like me to introduce myself!

Alright, I'll start setting him up!

I'd like to submit a character idea
A halfling Dual Cursed Oracle/Inquisitor of Luck (preacher archetype)

With his primary curse as Legalistic, and his Secondary curse as the curse Zaiobe (the harpy oracle) from Jade Regent has.

Mute (Ex) Zaiobe’s oracle curse renders her mute—she can’t
speak, use verbal spell components, or use her captivating
song as a result. This same curse, though, grants her the
ability to cast all spells as if using the Silent Spell metamagic
feat without modifying that spell’s actual level. In addition,
Zaiobe can communicate telepathically with any creature she is in physical contact with. She can also maintain a telepathic bond with one specific creature at a time by taking a full-round action to link her mind to that creature during telepathic communication. Currently, she shares this link with Kikonu, even though, ironically, the two are not speaking. Zaiobe can
change the target of her telepathic link once per day.

He's a cheery optimistic sort who believes that he wasn't cursed, he was blessed. He lost his voice and became sickened after he broke his word in manner that caused great suffering, and realizing what he had done, went back and helped ease that suffering. (the exact nature of this event is still forming in my mind!) After this, he never got his voice back, but gained the ability to communicate in his mind to those he touched, and learned a language of hand signs as well. He was granted strange magical abilities that turned against him if ever he broke his word and realized the source of this strange magic came with conditions. He took it as a blessing, took up a path of dedicated optimism and cheer, and went to live with those in great need.

Thoughts?
Thank you for your consideration!

This is beautiful. Count me excited! I'm assuming we're starting 1st level? I'll be putting together a diviner wizard with a race of my own making, I think.

I don't think a single summoning spell has been cast thus far, so I'm not sure how effective a bard will be in adding to combat, at least in that regard.

In my current table top campaign, my character and the party tank died tumbling from a rope bridge after two natural ones on a skill check, which as a house rule as auto fail, despite the fact I was rolling a +9 to acrobatics and the first DC was a 5. While this frustrates me, it's left me with the question of what I should play to help out the party.

The party is fourth level, and currently consists of:
a cleric with the animal and glory domains, going into brightness seeker at 6th level for at least a level or two.
two wizards, one necromancer with a bloody skeleton and skeletal champion wandering around with him, and the other a thassilonian wrath mage who enjoys some enchantment and invisibility spells
one gnomish (everyone else is human) grenadier alchemist.

More information about the campaign setting:
Magic works differently in the campaign world, with each spell learned by our wizards is expensive, and takes at least a week of game time, and spells are limited to what we can find among other wizards in the group. All in all, our resources are rather few, magical item creation is rare, our wizards can't scribe scrolls and have other abilities in their stead, and the world as we know it seems to be undergoing some major ominous changes, with portals opening up to the abyss, a great howling storm that hangs over every where we've been and grows more ominous, strange cultists who may be manipulating these events, and our home empire a week or so away under attack by what appears to be legions of demons. The game is very very sandbox, and the DM builds his world around where we decide to explore and what we decide to do.

I've juggled half a dozen different character ideas and am jonesing for suggestions! Ideally, I'd play a summoner considering the circumstances, but my DM has nixed the idea for fear of crowding our already crowded game in combat (skeletons, plus us, and what ever monsters involved.) Thoughts, folks? Thank you in advance!

Str1d10 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19
Dex1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Con1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Int1d10 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 2 = 9
Wis 8
Cha 20

With these for stats, I'll be building a Succubus (Demon) Spawn Tiefling as an Antipaladin of Calistria.

Also, as to what comes next, I could definitly see Gared joining the pathfinder society with his new found companions while giving a chance to mix the group with several other players. I'd be interested in pursuing the Shattered Star AP at least so far as to look through the player's guide book for it.

*waves*
Hey there strangers! Having finally finished my summer semester of physics and now caught up on how this game has unfolded, I'd still love to sign up and give it a shot when I finish putting together a character. I'm actually on vaccation at the moment, so it might be a few days before that's the case with all the driving I'm doing, but if you'd be willing to have me aboard, this looks like a kind of group worth playing with!

If it's not to late, I might put in a tentative bid to play a LN Duergar Zen Archer Quingong monk/Inquistor of Irori (who actually doesn't have a charisma of below 10 for roleplaying reasons since a 25 point build is available.)
Would Duergar be alright with out changing any levels around?
Thank you for the time, and for providing the particularly large opportunity!

I'd like to dot for interest. I'm a long time table top pathfinder and 3.5 player with some experience on these boards (though I ended up dropping out of a longer running game for some personal real life problems)who is looking to get started again.

As for a character idea, I'd very much like to play a disillusioned Dwarven Zen Archer monk of Erastil who's small settlement was slaughtered by giants. After having failed his community, family, traditon's, and God, the archer wandered until he stumbled upon a new community to dedicate himself to, and one that was as haunted and plagued by the past as he was. As an alignment, he'd start as a very committed Lawful character, but a very unsure and doubtful Good one, to be affirmed or pushed otherwise by those who become the most influential to him (most likely the party, but maybe an NPC or two, depending on how important you make them). He'd have a particularly low charisma score to reflect his abysmal self worth, lack of confidence, and guilt, but an especially high wisdom which has helped his perspective, but kept him from committing suicide and pushed him to search out some place he might make a difference with his considerable skills and ambition.

How does that sound? If you like the idea, (or if I find the time any way) I'll roll him up, and find him a name!

If I played a Quingong ZAM(Zen archer monk) Drow Noble Half-fiend (as spell resistance twice doesn't give me that much of an advantage, though still subject to your approval) I could be a very effective trap finder with a really impressive perception and disable device check (from wisdom of the flesh.) Skills would also be available in plenty. The most time consuming part about putting together the character would be spending such a huge amount of gold. (again, suggestions would be welcome!) Thoughts?

Dotting for interest, though I'll be interested to see from the ARG. Any thoughts on any particular bases that a lich evoker and high level summoner don't cover? I'm considering playing a ZAM with a decent template of some sort. I'm open to suggestions.

Some RL stuff has just come up so I'm going to have to curtail my posting for a while, will let you know if I find the time to start up again, but it's unlikely for a time.

Just wanted to bump this, since I using a build with pinpoint poisoner and sneak attack to try and boost the combat effectiveness of a master spy.

I would still really love to take Darkstalker, even if you wanted it to have pre-requisites, and would be willing to find the feats to pick it up. It really fits the feel of the character as he's just capable of things you aren't supposed to do with out magic. I think I'm ditching trying to put together a cohort, since I don't have one ready and don't savor the thought of just "throwing together" a 13th level wizard. Adrian is an intelligence and wisdom based face, a his actual charisma is painfully low , so he doesn't really have access to a great deal of magic. Instead he's spent years honing his mind and body to be able to perform impossible things, like sneaking up on an aberration in it's own home.

More equipment questions! Can I have the Murderous bracers made into murderous gloves so I can use bracers of armor as well? Also, would you allow a Sihedron Ring Re-purposed to have a +5 deflection bonus and no resistance bonus at the same or reduced price along side it's other abilities?
This is probably the most flavorful character I've built, and you've met Curvlk.

1. Would you allow me to create my own poisons using these rules?

2. Would you allow any 3.5 material as far as feats go, namely bracers of murder from Drow of the Underdark and the feat Darkstalker from Lords of Madness?

Just want to bump these questions since they appear to have been missed.
Anyone know any items that really mess with an undead's day? They seem to be the bane of poison, stunning fist, death attack, combat routine. *sighs*

Also, what are your thoughts on leadership? I thought it might make sense to represent the many and varied loyal folk to one of Adrian's plethora of personalities. I don't think any would come into play other than his cohort, would probably be an elven mystic theruge and fellow worshipper of Irori, and good friend (and possible romantic companion) of the tiefling's. Would our cohort come into play with us or would they remain as just part of the back story? Could she help craft things for Adrian?
Sorry for all the questions, and for the delay on putting together the character sheet. I have most of it written up on note pad, just need to put the finishing touches together and put it into forum format.

Couple of rules questions as I cobble together my master spy.

1. Would you allow me to create my own poisons using these rules?

2. In some unofficial errata somewhere, it was suggested that Inquisitor's of Irori get the improved unarmed strike feat instead of martial weapon proficient in their Deity's favored weapon.

3. Would you allow any 3.5 material as far as feats go, namely bracers of murder from Drow of the Underdark and the feat Darkstalker from Lords of Madness?

Hp(before con)14d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 5, 7, 1, 7, 8, 6, 4, 1, 4, 6, 7, 3, 8) + 8 = 79
Not bad!

*is thoughtful*
If I end up having some more time on my hands, say maybe in a couple months or so, I could run a Jade Regent.
Have fun everyone!

Yeah, go for it!

Soon...
*waits with ever-baited breath*

Watcher, is there anything else you'd like to know about Adrian? I have some extra free time on me as a lot of my play by posts aren't moving very quickly this weekend.

I just had a free moment to check out some of the applicant's and was very impressed. It would be a real pleasure to role-play with any of you folk, and if I don't make it into this game, I might just take the time to read along! I'll also just move my applications over to the other carrion crown recruitment running and maybe I'll see some of you there!
P.S. I was very sad to see that no Gnomes applied, and wish I'd had the time to roll one up! The Bleaching makes for a great plot hook for gnomes that works well with a setting like this one.

Alright, here's a rough back story for Adrian(which is the name he'd be going by as his basis for the adventure.)

Memories of the past.:
Adrian doesn’t remember his own true name, and very little of his past. The tiefling barely remembers his childhood growing up somewhere in Cheliax, or was is it Taldor? Adrian did remember the streets, and the gangs. He remembered being beat and taunted by the other children for his infernal heritage, and that at one point, he was socially inept, awkward, eccentric, or just plain “weird”. Most of all, Adrian remembered being lonely. But the young tiefling was brilliant and cunning, and he made up for his social ineptitude with brilliant plans, and improvisation when those plans fell through, and before long he had a protected position as the “brain” of one of the larger gangs. Adrian had become respected, and even feared because of the position of power he held, and so the ridicule and beatings had stopped. But Adrian was still alone, and his rank only fostered greater resentment of the young man.

”What are you thinking about, my love?” The young noble asked the now much older tiefling who was wearing the guise of a striking eleven beauty named Melinda, who perhaps would one day become the duchess of a Taldane hold if she wedded the human . ”Oh, I do apologize my lord, you see when you live to see as many hundreds of years as I have, the mind does tend to wander to ancient memories from time to time.”Melinda smiled sincerely at the man, for the master spy truly lived the rolls he played, in every aspect of their lives. ”I am sorry, but truly my dear, I feel as if I must rest. I’ve been feeling unwell…” The well intentioned young man apologized and tucked Adrian in and left her to rest well-made carriage as the tiefling kissed the man good-bye and pretended to fall asleep, returning to his memories.

Adrian remembered how his jealousy of those around him had made him bitter, angry, and cruel. He had been treated like a devil for so long, one day he simply decided to start acting like one. And that day was the day when Rathish had found him, a priest and assassin of Norgorber. He had promised revenge and shared the allure of mastery of death and secrecy. Adrian remembered with a wry smile how invincible he had felt then, learning how to manipulate others with his guile and wisdom instead of his natural talent. His eccentricities became he tools, and he became a master of lies and moving shadow, and then had lept at the chance to become an assassin in Norgorber’s name when a fellow priest had offered to train him.

Shacnot rose from his well-made hut to the sound of orcish chants and war drums, celebrating the successful hunt of a young warrior who had successfully wrestled and defeated a great beast of the Dirt Sea with only his raw strength and wild spirit. The tiefling was impressed as usual by the orcish tenacity and went through the rites of passage with the young warrior, promoting him to a standard bearer of the tribe as he decorated the orc with fresh war paint from the south and chanted prayers to Gorum and other gods. The tiefling was particularly proud of his adoption of the orcish tribe who revered him as a great shaman and personal speaker for the Gods, and occasionally would use one their warriors to advance his agenda, whiling keeping a careful watch on the rash creatures. Shacnot cleaned the pain from his face and appreciated the feel of actually having tusks before making his way back to his hut and the small and well hidden underground palace he’d had constructed there. Adrien wiped away the orcish form with a thought and assumed the form a handsome and well-built half elf, and spent several minutes playing around with his build and facial structure before he was satisfied and thought back to when he first had become a follower of Blackfingers.

How odd a sensation it had been when he killed Rathish! An assassin of Norgorber had approached him one day and told him that he saw promise in the young tiefling, and if he wanted to prove himself that he must kill his mentor in the name Blackfingers. Adrian had struggled for days with the idea before finally an opportunity presented itself when he stumbled upon his teacher while he was sleeping. The decision was made quickly before the would be assassin could have changed his mind, which might have led to a very different life for the creature who would become so many different people. Adrian had spent several years passionately venting his anger and bitterness ending the lives of others with-out thought after that, and when he finally became calmer, his fascination with people, manipulating and understanding them, and his strong desire to be loved and accepted him pushed him to study another aspect of Norgorber, and before long the young man was studiously learning the art of deception, disguise, and politics that worship of the Reaper of Reputation entailed. And then he’d met Garrun. Well, actually he’d been sent to kill the dwarf but was severely over matched. The stout fellow had no trouble locating the assassin, and then had proceeded to invite him for tea and discussion.

Adrian chuckled at the memory. He remembered poisoning the tea with the most potent toxin he’d had on him. The dwarf had simply pointed out that his sleight-of-hand was pathetic for any killer worth his salt and swigged down the theoretically deadly beverage with-out batting an eye. The dwarf continued to astound the assassin, and everything the young tiefling did to fool the dwarf or end his life ended in failure. Garrun had even encouraged him to leave and try again later. Thoroughly frustrated, Adrian had berated the dwarf verbally, but the creature merely responded with questions that the would-be assassin had no answer for, and before long they were engaged in religious debate. The dwarf followed the path of Irori, and made a convincing argument for Adrian to rethink his life, pushing the man of infernal heritage from his dark and self-righteous beliefs, showing morality to be nothing more than a social contract, and killing no more than speeding up the natural course of all life. Garrun had left Adrian dazed and confused inside his own home, and then had politely urged him to go out and do something thinking. Adrian vowed that he would never return to the cult of Norgorber until he had killed the dwarf, and he had kept his word on that vow ever since. Now, all these years later, the dwarf was still alive somewhere and Garrun sought to find the path to enlightenment through walking hundreds of different paths…
Adrian turned his head up from the path, seeing a small village not far ahead and wandering what his current path might lead him to stumble upon.

Also, Here are his levels so far, with race being tiefling and starting ability scores being something along the lines of a 10 str, 14 dex, 10 con, around 16 or so wisdom and intelligence with a dumped charisma. I also would enjoy the flavor and mechanics of making him middle-aged.

(rogue)Scroll scoundrel 2,(Inquisitor) Heretic 3, Assassin 2, Master Spy 8

Let me know if you have any questions or comments, and I'd be happy to listen and answer any questions you might have!

Dotting for interest, hoping to sneak in a submission before closing time! What would you think of a Master Spy who worships Irori who is also an ex-assassin/inquisitor of Norgorber. He/she(still working out gender for this one) would have inquisitor, (maybe some rogue, maybe some monk) a couple levels of assassin before delving full on into master spy. I'm thinking tiefling for the race, and the character would have a whole lot of flavor and history, but I want to make sure you're ok with a once evil, now more neutral character. He would be a great face, and an excellent scout with a non-evil death attack as far as party roll goes, and with a personality of something between Silk from the Belgariad, and Vino from Bacano. Let me know your thoughts, and good luck everyone!

I've three submissions from another Carrion crown pending approval, and I don't think I have the time to run both if I was accepted in that one, but I should know if any of them made it by this Sunday. Anything in particular you are looking for as a DM from a player or character besides filling the big four?

5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 6, 4) = 19For a dwarverish fighter I'm trying to figure out.
5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2, 5) = 23For a socially inept half-elf ranger.

Is that Leaf over there? It'd be nice to play with you again Adam.

Sorry it's taking me a little to get my character together, I've fallen under the weather, and it's slowing me down. Should have something together by the end of the weekend!

Could I see the Yuki-Onna, Movic Deva, and Glaistig touched bases? I wouldn't mind seeing the Visilight Infused template also. Thank you! I should have a character up by the weekend.

I'd be quite interested in playing, if you don't mind a couple of questions. It sounds morality isn't glossed over in your game, which I like. I'd really enjoy playing a LG Paladin of Shelyn, with an interesting racial twist like a succubus touched. I noticed several heritage feats as racial bonus feats and I was wondering where you allow feat choices from. Would you mind posting up some more of the races and templates so I know what I'm working with?
About me as a player, I love a good game of any kind and am more than willing to experiment with homebrew. I am a student, and usually have plenty of time to post at least once a day, and often much more than that. My time zone is EST. If you have any questions for me, or more info about the campaign such as what character types you'd like to see, additonal rules, ect ect, then please let me know!

I'd be interested in playing and am rather familiar with Pathfinder, but almost completely clueless as far as PFS goes. Would I need to know any more than your character creation guidelines to put together a first level character? Good luck with working the kinks, either way. I could post several times a day if my ignorance of PFS doesn't stand in the way, and am also EST. *waves* See you around the block!

P.S.
What is your opinion of drow & drow nobles? I've got a TN drow noble who is a bardic worshiper of Sarenrae who has fantastic flavor and would perfectly fit the setting, but is very powerful for any level so he never sees play. Your thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.

Dotting for interest!
Aiming for LN half-elf or human Master of Many Styles worshipping Iori looking to strive to self perfection, but we'll see what else pops into my head as being a good idea over the weekend.

I'd like to make a Super Mutant Martial Artist and will post one soonish, but I'd like to know more about the mutant's flavor in your game, as well as what happens with their intelligence. Can you tell me more about them, like do they take up more than a 5ft square? Also, we're starting at 1st level?

I would love to be a part of this. Could you tell me a little more about the super mutants in the game? Do they have their own faction or are they just wasteland wanderer's? Also, what level are we starting at?

Life is wonderful! Happy to have cheer to share with you all, in the various celebrations across the globe this month. Love, Light, and Healing to you all.

He isn't large on the map. I was thinking bull's strength.

Ninja'd! Alright, Em will charge the omega male and stunning fist it non-lethally

Do we know what God the professor worshiped as his patron deity?

No problem! With the holiday season, folks are bound to run into all sorts of chaos here and then.

All sounds good to me. It has been a little hectic, and maybe a round order with a recapped map would be good to see from the DM. Also spoiler text from us PC's to the DM would help prevent clutter, and then he can recap for all of us.

Now, as far as the battle is concerned, which round is it, and is the map current? I think the little goblin missed one or two rounds (acting in four) and I feel like we're on the 6th or 7th now.

Leaf on the Wind wrote:

Sorry been a busy couple of days.

reflex: 1d20+6
No damage! :D

Round 3:

1d100

Leaf bolts. (Pick a direction and move her 140 ft. if possible)

You might want to actually want to roll a will save before you take a failure.

I always read it as they had to be a 20% miss chance and then a 50% miss chance. Did you cast a spell each round, one and two, Casfi? Or does your class let you cast more than one per round? Sounds good to me!

Thank you very much for the acceptance! I'm looking forward to playing with everyone, the adventure will be spectacular.

As far as team playing goes, is there a specific skill related role that would be most important for Walthus to fill? Walthus is most definitely a bard, and I'd set him up as as a Dawnflower Dervish archetype, but I could change his archetype to an archaeologist if we needed more of a trap-finder. I'd prefer to leave him as the Dervish though. I'll have an alias up tomorrow morning!
