"Uh, guys, they're in building two, and it's kinda full of some kind of robot bugs," Etain said abruptly, bringing the rest of the group up to speed on what was going on.

"Then we need to catch up with them, and now," Fei replies as he goes back over to the shuttles and activates their security systems, patching them into his neural lace so it can keep tabs on the vehicles.

"Give Spitfire our rough location, and let her know we are on the way."

Pausing only for James to engage another telepathic 'collective' for the team, the young monk does his best to get the others moving with purpose towards Building 2.

As there has been no post about any interference on the way to Building 2, I will just assume the rest of the team makes it to Ghalen and Elektra's location without incident so we can move forward.

As the rest of the team arrives outside of Building 2, neither Elektra nor Ghalen are in direct view...but a loud commotion is coming from somewhere inside.

::Scorch, Happy....can you see Spitfire or Grunt from your vantage points?:: he asks before committing to enter the building 'blind'.

::I can't see them clearly, but I'm seeing flashes of electricity through the windows. Might be Spitfire. Phoenix says she's hurt. Something about robot bugs and then pain.::

Jiminy cursed under his breath. "Never rains but it pours, eh? Well, the way our luck runs, it's probably not something minor and benign," he said with a resigned sigh. "Time to head back and see what the damage is then."

Fei nods, and follows James out of the building and over to Ardiente and Alev. As they walk, he attempts to contact his nanites at the base again, with no success. He also tried to contact the base itself and gets the same results

"Scorch, Happy - there appears to be some kind of power outage at base, and I am now unable to communicate with them to gain any more information," he says to his teammates. "We need to return and find out what is going on. Allow me to heal whatever injuries any of you have left before we depart."

The young monk will tap into the excess energies he retained from earlier and return everyone still hurt to full health before they return to their shuttles and head back to base.

"Thanks," Alev said, quickly scrambling into the shuttle that he came in. If there was trouble back at the base this was no time for lollygagging.

Reposting response to repost. ;P

Taking several deep, centering breaths, Aridente settles himself down. "Do not blame yourself. As you said, there is no way to have truly known just how evil the elder del Sols were going to be. Raelle is safe, they are captured and that is all that matters. Now, we should look into whether or not its possible to free Elektra's dad from the mind control. And find out if there are any other guardsmen, or just other firebirds in general, who have been subjected to that awful ritual." He pauses, thinking "What are the chances any of the other families were also engaged in mind controlling their guards?"

"House Helios didn't, much to everyone's surprise. Their guards all scattered after Fuego's death. Apolla was left totally on her own. House Surya wouldn't because they're too busy fighting each other. I don't think House Svarog would either. There's too many of them. There's no way they could keep it a secret. House Phoebus probably not. Their guards get leave pretty regularly and I get the impression that they're strict, but on the up and up. I could be wrong, but that's my guess. House Soleil would do it in a heartbeat. Just not sure they have the magical mojo to pull it off. Well, maybe they do now. I heard they took Apolla in. She could do it. And House Niyambi is so secretive that I just don't know about them. Maybe yes, maybe no."

"You okay, man? Can't have been easy. Wasn't easy for me, so I can only assume that you're still trying to simmer down from the whole murderous rage thing."
Ardiente sort of stares blankly at Alev for several long moments "Their. Own. Granddaughter! How...how could they?!" Is all he's able to say. Clearly the young monk is full of a mix of emotions, as he clenches his fists several times, and tears begin to slowly trickle down his face. To be instantly evaporated by his internal fire which is still rather hot due to his level of rage and anger.

"They did it to their son. Obviously a less permanent version back then. They were still working their way up to the real deal. Why would they feel differently about their granddaughter? They think that any members of their house or those pledged to serve their house are essentially objects. They think it's their right to do what they like with them. That's why they didn't see anything wrong with the mind control stuff. Or with sending you and your family to die. We told you that was why we ran, and that was part of it, but not all of it. They took Elektra's dad. Well, you saw that. He's not really there anymore. I don't know if it can be fixed. And we were supposed to be next. We had a summons for later in the day. So we took the chance to run when Sorchan came looking for students. We probably should have told you sooner, but...well, it was complicated. We weren't sure what was right, and they had our families, so we stayed quiet about it. I didn't think they would try to use it on Raelle though. I mean, yeah, it's obvious in retrospect, but I just wasn't thinking evil enough apparently," Alev said quietly.

Alev followed Fei's instructions, closing with the second guard and throwing something in his face.
1d20 + 28 ⇒ (12) + 28 = 40
The second guard screamed, not that you could hear it, but you could definitely see it as he clawed at his face.

::What did you just throw at him?:: Jiminy asked.
::Sand. He has really sensitive eyes,:: Alev replied. ::Which I knew when I threw the sand.::

::We need to take care of the last two guards before the two spellcasters can regroup. Can you help me do that?::

::Yeah. I can...yeah,:: he replies, still a little disoriented as he scrambles to his feet.

Thank Fei for that champion bonus. Otherwise that attack would not have hit. :)

Concentration check to keep casting. 1d20+32

Aaaaaand he just exactly makes it. The spell is still going on.

Fiilah jumps down off of the hayloft and all three guards converge on Ardiente.

::Converge on the first floor - Ardiente needs assistance NOW, and the kidnappers are making some kind of ritual circle around Raellr::Fei says through the telepathic link. ::I am trying to get Raelle out of here right now::

Fei heads straight for the unconscious girl.

::Kinda...busy....right now....but at least I'm....keeping Ollifer occupied,:: Alev sent out.

Alev flies straight past Ardiente, bowling into Ollifer and knocking him over, although that won't keep him down for long as Ardiente well remembers from training.

::Get in there! Go! Don't worry about the guards! You have to stop them. They're del Sol guards,:: he mentally shouted out to the rest of the team. There is a definite note of fear in his mental voice.

Ardiente:
You know that things haven't been right in House del Sol for a while, but the panic in Alev's voice suggests that there's something more going on that your friends haven't told you about.

she actually finally looks up at everyone. She clears her throat.
"So, how has everyone else been? I hope you're dealing with this better then I am."
her mood changes quickly, in a sense. Anyone who's even mildly competent at realign people will know she's faking it.

"so far so good, met a few powerful people, a skilled earth and fire bender among them, apparently former guardian of one of the noble houses, there are a lot of interesting people here,

hiesta gives a fake smile, pretending she actually cares about what he's saying.

"So what do you think makes a person interesting?" he asked in between shoveling mouthfuls of food in as if he were in a terrible hurry to eat. Etain and Elektra both had the same problem with table manners. A guard thing perhaps. "There's lots of people here. Stands to reason at least some of them would match your definition."

Alev rolled his eyes. "Flirting with her is not helping, Etain," he said, exasperated.
