Call to Volunteer: PaizoCon Online 2023

Friday, January 13, 2023

Greetings, players! Somehow, it’s once again time to start recruiting volunteers for our major conventions! At this time, we’re opening applications for PaizoCon Online 2023. Information on Gen Con Indy, Gen Con Online, as well as other PaizoCon events, will happen at a future date. Please read all the information in the convention’s section before filling out the application form, and let the team know if you have any questions!

PaizoCon Online 2023

PaizoCon Online 2023

PaizoCon Online 2023 will take place online from May 26-30, 2023. We are not planning a physical component to the show at this time. New content at this show will include the launch of Starfinder Society Year 6, the new Starfinder Society interactive special, and new Pathfinder Society scenarios.

We’re currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

  • Game Master: Run tables of Organized Play Scenarios, Bounties and Quests
  • Headquarters (HQ): Answer player and GM questions, seat players, handle conflicts and disputes, and report games after completion

Please read this important information before applying:

  • Volunteer applications will be reviewed and accepted or rejected by the PaizoCon Organizing Committee. Filling this form out does not guarantee acceptance; you will receive an email with further information from the PaizoCon committee.
  • Unlike previous PaizoCon Onlines, we will be assigning GMs to games based on their indicated preferences in the application form. There will not be a later signup date for GMs to select their games.
  • Reward information is listed in the table below. GMs who do not qualify for a badge will still need to purchase one.
  • Applications will be processed on a rolling basis, beginning no later than March 1. The earlier you get your application in, the more likely it is you’ll get the scenarios you want. Please be patient as we put the final details on the convention internally before we send out GM emails!
  • Adventure authors interested in running tables of scenarios they have written should fill out this form and then follow up by emailing paizoorgplayhq@gmail.com. Anybody interested in running games outside of the Organized Play offerings (such as Infinite content, homebrew content, or games from other publishers) should email paizocon@paizo.com for more information about scheduling your offerings.
  • Any questions about the GM signup process should be sent to the committee at paizoorgplayhq@gmail.com.

Was just wanting to point out, on the sign up form, it says Friday 27th of May when it should be Friday 26th of May. Just in case anyone got confused like I did for a good long while ^.^"

Was hoping to visit the Pacific Northwest this year. Maybe next year.

So quiet >.< The action must be on the Discord servers. 2023 is a great year already.

Yay for the launch of a new Starfinder Society Special! Will this one also be repeatable on multiple tiers?

Another question. Will you be including Play-by-Post tables again this year?

Hmm

Hmm

PaizoCon will indeed be hosting Play-by-Post events this year. For now, just indicate your interest in GMing for that program in the notes at the end of the application, and we'll get the rest sorted!

When will Paizocon go back to a physical location? Us old-school gamers want to talk to people face to face. I don't think i am alone when I say I have been eager to meet and hang out with likeminded PF2E players from all around the map.

Last year's Paizocon resulted in COVID spreading a bit even with all the safety guidelines, so sadly probably when the Paizo staff just feel safe enough to do it. As much as I had a lot of fun last year too, I get it.

Of course, people were getting sick at Paizocon pre-Covid, and I am not sure how dangerous those flus and other respiratory diseases were compared to the weaker strains of Covid going around now. Paizocon never was and never will be safe from that point of view.

After 3 years, I'm not interested in discussing covid further; if discussion continues in this thread I will ask for it to be locked. PaizoCon is online this year. The reasons for that are many. In-person events are expensive and leadership made the decision not to pursue one this year.

Liberty's Edge

No one here including myself wants to discuss covid, and there is no reason for anyone to get pissy about it either. The online events are fine and all but it just feels like it's defeating the purpose for a company who's sole existence is based around Table-Top Role Playing Games to not see that as a necessary and core function at it's annual events. I am not trying to take the wind out of anyone's sails, but being expensive is not an excuse either. That's the reason people like me pay money to show up. Not to mention all the merch and swag I buy while I am there. We just want to know is Paizo planning to do a physical event next year? Or can we expect virtual Paizocons from here on out? I personally am looking forward to the next physical event, and will for sure be there.

We have not announced plans for future years at this time.
