Paizo Launches Twitch Charity Marathon: LIVE NOW!

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

The Paizo staff is livestreaming Pathfinder RPG games ALL DAY today to celebrate the launch of Paizo's Twitch channel! At the same time, we've partnered with Humble Bundle to offer more than $350 of digital Pathfinder RPG products at a "pay what you want" price. You can join the livestream directly at the new Paizo Twitch channel and check out the Humble Bundle to grab some Pathfinder PDFs and support Extra Life, a charity benefiting children's health.

New to Pathfinder? Pay what you want to receive must-have products like the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook and Beginner Box. Beat the average Humble Bundle price to pick up titles like the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary and the Advanced Player's Guide. Go over the average at $15 to pick up books like Ultimate Combat and Ultimate Magic. You can also go further and choose the $25 level, and Paizo will send you a physical copy of our award-winning Beginner Box (shipping not included).

As with all Humble Bundles, customers not only decide how much they would like to pay, but also how that money is distributed between the publisher and charity. This is a great way to shore up (or begin!) your Pathfinder PDF collection while doing good! The Humble RPG Book Bundle: Pathfinder program runs from February 24 to March 9.

To celebrate the launch of Paizo's first Humble Bundle, we're livestreaming Pathfinder games from our conference room all day today, with the cast of players and the adventures themselves swapping out every two hours. Check out our official Game Marathon page for a schedule of events.

At the conclusion of Paizo's slate of live events, we'll hand off our Twitch stream to our friends at Saving Throw, who will continue the Pathfinder goodness for a four-hour session of their own before they hand off to The Dicestormers, who will run a four-hour session of The Dragon's Demand. It's a full day of Pathfinder action, a great way to kick off Paizo's Twitch channel.

So! Check us out on Twitch and Humble Bundle and get ready to Pay What You Want, Give to Charity, and Kill Monsters!

Lots of respect for the Humble Bundle cooked up here.

Wow, more than 500 people have purchased the bundle already. It's still going strong!

I clicked on the Humble RPG Book Bundle: Pathfinder program runs from February 24 to March 9 (hyperlink) and it comes up as a blank page.

I love humble bundle, but this bundle is insane, a lot of PFS players will be very happy ^^

So neat!

Sovereign Court

I own almost all of the Humble Bundle, but will gladly pick it up anyway. Been wanting to get the beginner box for introductions anyways, and I started my AP Subscription with Hell's Rebels #4 so this gets me everything I'm missing digitally!

Sorry about that! Should be corrected now :)

I'm setting up to host PFS at a convention this weekend, so I'm a little short on time, but if anyone keener than I wants to put this humble bundle thing into a 1 pager flyer, I will happily print a stack to have available at the con, as this is an amazing opportunity for new players.

That's an excellent idea. We have CoastCon next week and it would be a great handout at our PFS table.

Wow, I just bought all the core books in pdf form 2-3 weeks ago. I am going to pick this up for the scenarios and AP books. This is a great deal and even made better by supporting charities.

Just out of curiosity, is the stream going to be saved and reuploaded somewhere later? I'll have to miss some parts of it, and I'd like to know if I'll be able to see them later.

Yes! We plan on making it available via YouTube once streaming finishes. A link will be available from http://paizo.com/charities :)

Is there a way for me to buy the bundle and gift the downloads to someone else? I already have everything I'd need from the items offered, will almost certainly buy in anyway, but would also prefer the downloads not go to waste.

When you make the order, it does give you the option to make this a gift donation and provide a gift download link.

The flier idea is a GREAT one. I'll see about putting something together.

This is awesome! Big kudos to Paizo for this. Like many, I owned most of it already, but I was still very happy to re-buy/donate for such a great cause.

All the PDFs I still need, for an amazing price, and proceeds are going to charity? Awesome!

Just so I'm perfectly clear, I spend a penny above the average, it goes to charity, and I get all those PDFs? That seems bonkers.

K so question. Do I just load all the books into my cart and enter the code like I would with any other purchase or does this follow a different format?

If I purchased a bunch of the "base" $1 bundles as Humble Bundle gift links and gave them to new Pathfinders in the future, will they still be able to redeem them after March 9th?

Humble bundle has been doing these types of charity deals for years. I own the hardback of all these but a chance to increase my digital library is just too awesome and help charity as well is just more icing on the cake. ☺

@doc the grey - You get the codes from the Humble Bundle site. Each "group" of products will have ONE code, not one code for each book (sadly, as I had most of them as PDFs already).

You redeem the codes by going to https://secure.paizo.com/humblebundle and the books appear your My Downloads. You don't add the books to your cart manually.

Good to know.

Okay, who wants "my" PDFs?

K is the code locked to the email you bought it with?

No. When you redeem the code, it'll ask you to log into your existing Paizo account (or create one, if you don't already have one), and it adds the bundle to that account's downloads.

Ok, love the bundle ando will definitely be getting it but I have a selfish question. Any way we could "trade" the AP PDFs for ones we don't already have? My guess is probably "Nope" which is cool because I'll still be doing the $25 level. Just mostly curious as there are many of the APs that I don't already have.

No. The code applies to whatever account is logged on to paizo. Check out the redemption instructions

K I'm still having problems. I'm on the link but it's not taking my code and it keeps saying it doesn't recognize it. This is the string of letters and numbers listed after order id correct or am I looking in the wrong place on my email?

Humble Bundle lets you split your payment any way you like among charity, Paizo, and Humble Bundle. And though we've chosen Extra Life (Children's Miracle Network) as the default charity, you can also choose to give to one or more of thousands of other charities.

(They deduct payment processing fees—typically 5 to 6%—and VAT where applicable, proportionally from the payment amounts you indicate. And if you pay the $25 or more to get the physical Beginner Box, $8 plus tax goes to cover the physical merchandise costs.)

Twitch is a social media platform for sharing live video targeted towards gamers and gaming of all sorts. In addition to the stream, there's also chat functionality to interact with other viewers or the folks doing the stream in real time.

Thanks, Chris.

The computer I'm usually on struggles with video, unfortunately. It would have been fun to watch a few games. :)

Will you be able to easily do things like live broadcast the paizocon banquet each year?

Just to be clear, we can in fact buy numerous "gift" codes for handing out codes to our local players? How long are the codes good for?

Hmm. It's certainly an interesting idea, though I have no input whatsoever beyond that at the moment. We have a number of other PaizoCon logistics to consider and seeing how this first day of streaming shakes out.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

The codes don't have an expiration.

But if the purchase includes the physical Beginner Box, there may be some point years down the road where we no longer have them in print to fulfill—so just, you know, don't wait several years to redeem those!

Thanks Vic. I was thinking of making 10-$5 donations so I would have some items to give to new players or include in our bi-weekly PFS sessions.

I don't understand how this site works or how to download these PDFs. What does it mean when the page says "personalizing"? I know that the site is under heavy traffic and stuff takes longer, but I don't know what I'm doing here.

Personalizing is a watermarking process that links the digital file to your account. When a lot of people are trying to download PDFs at the same time, the watermarker can get backed up, creating a bottleneck effect. This means it can take longer for the watermarker to finish the personalizing process for each PDF.

Once the PDFs are granted to your My Downloads page, they will remain available for download from now on. It may be easier to try to download them later, when the extra traffic on our site has died down a bit. We are doing everything we can to keep the traffic manageable and keep the site up. We appreciate your patience with this!

Additionally, an assortment of FAQs about PDFs on our site can be found here. If you have any other questions, let us know. We can also be reached at customer.service@paizo.com or on the Customer Service messageboards.

No worries. FWIW, missing the banquet is one of the really annoying things about being on the wrong side of the pacific. If some of it were available to enjoy from afar, I reckon it would even be worth arguing with my computer for a while.

Plus, by my calculations, it would be a nice and convenient Sunday afternoon for those of us in Australia. :)

I didn't realize when I first looked last night that Season 6 PFS was in there, that is a lot of material, since I'm 80% sure I have the rest of it, I was glad to find an excuse to throw in and participate.

I have everything in the bundle, nonetheless I was more than happy to purchase a few bundles as gift copies for some friends. And also to get another beginner box for shipping+donation.
