Cycling List to new Page

hmm,

We have 10 submissions, and a unknown number of party member slots.
If it is 4-6 members, everyone is at about a 50/50 chance of getting picked.
Though if one factors in players that tend to suddenly drop within the first few pages of the game and up the player count to 6-8 to account for it, we sit at or near 75% chance of getting in.

Sad to say but you could probably take all 10 and have a proper party of 6 within 2 months due to attrition....

Interesting mix, 1 mage and 1 rogue.

Rat and cat prank each other... fighter walks into half of it face first.

That, or GM runs two tables and sees which one dies first.

As 10 Players is a bit much for a full module, 8 would be more managable and if so, the Assault types would likely be getting the short end of the stick since there are more of them then any other category.

I typically shoot for 5 assuming someone will drop fairly early.

Its an interesting mix of characters, I am considering seeing how two 5 person tables might look. I should not do two tables, I know, but OTOH, I am only GMing one currently active game and playing in one other (which hasn't fully started yet). I just know if I try to run two tables though, my older games will suddenly have new life lol.

Yeah, Good Ol Murphy's Law.

Best thing to do is bribe his little gremlin minions with some de-caffe coffee so they take a break in their break room for a good long while.

----

The CotCT game, I got into just recently had 3 players dropped in the first 3 pages out of the 6 that initially.
And one out of the 3 replacements, another dropped.
So might be better to aim a bit higher then 5.
As there are generally about 2 drop outs.

Here is another 'Nugget of Wisdom' I've learned from the Paizo forums.

'If you REALLY want to be apart of a Campaign, volunteer to be the Healer!'

Hmm.... Could be.

Being a healer is always a good way toward recruitment, but the same holds true for every role. I will say I have had a frightening number of recruitments where there wasn't a single full melee/tank chosen.

I was running a game and the party Rogue had to drop out thanks to real life hitting them.

So I posted a recruitment explaining that the party needed someone to handle the trap finding and disabling devices side of things.

I had one person try to convince me that their Paladin could totally fill that role, despite having no perception or disable device?

Investigator, Trapper ranger, Archeologist Bard could all have fit. But no his full plate Paladin was his what he thought would be a good offering.

He thought his Paladin could fill in a role that is an antithesis to his class's code of conduct.

What the Smurf, my head hurts thinking someone thought it would be a good idea...
If you have the word Smurf in a post, you get a smurf avatar for that post. Old Forum thing on the boards

A Rogue is a role that also has a high demand for a LOT of skill points which the Paladin class barely provides any of and would be a pain to manage with so few skill points and Paladin not really needing a good INT stat....

I'm so dumbfounded from reading that a Paladin thought he could do a rogue's job, that is just so....
what is the word I'm looking for....

Liberty's Edge

Paladin could walk through the trap then heal thyself.

How do you deal with traps?

I tank 'em!

Ok, hearing the idea of tanking traps, that is partially legit.

Though I then have to wonder if they are like *Dias, who tanked traps only due to his broken physical stats, and low INT, like a stereotypical dumb fighter.

a reference to a MC of the series The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects

I am currently in the process of getting a fighter to become a Grave Knight. Insane AC, will have insane HP. And immune to 6 of the 8 energy types

His damage will be okay. Not the best. But he will be able to tang hits easy

Can always summon monster and direct it to open the door/chest/whatever to set off the trap....

Many years ago in Dragon magazine's April issue they would publish joke articles. I don't know if they still do? I haven't read Dragon for years.

One year they had a list of Non-magical spells.

Detect fire - Range touch.

Detect Traps- Material component - One Fighter 30' ahead of the party.

Detect Light - Range Sight

Fighter? That's clearly a job for a barbarian.

Detect Hands-Range touch

Make Iron Sphere. 100 gp diamond component transforms into small iron marble.

There were some pretty entertaining April Fool's Classes over the years, too - I remember a 'Mother' Class making an appearance ;-)

Silver Crusade

I think make iron sphere should have an iron marble as its component. Fits the theme a little better.

Yeah some issues of Dragon had some nice gag articles released in April issues.

I have a few, and even some of the other (not April) issues have some funny stuff in them like the one from the perspective of a trap maker who made some creative traps, like one that traps folks with a recording of a lecturing mother-in-law until the authorities pick get around to picking them up.

I remember when they came out with the Court Jester as a character class. It was pretty useless but funny. If I remember right his iconic weapon was a rubber chicken. And you got bonuses for being maimed, like missing an arm....

And there were the balloon monsters that would float in 'yelling' "Pins, Pins, attack the Pins!" They ignored you if you had a blunt weapon but attached anyone with slashing or piercing. They were immune to blunt damage but died with any hit that pierced them. And they popped, sometimes causing damage to the attacker either by poison gas or whatever else.

I've been a little more delayed than I expected, just please bear with me another day. I want to make sure I give every submission a fair shake!

Sounds fair, as RL can throw monkey wrenches and there are some great submissions given.

Absolutely right. Take all the time you need and pick the best!

I have been trying really, really, really hard not to do two tables. I want to, but I need to respect my limits!

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the fascinating characters and general atmosphere. In the end, most of the final picks come down to just gut instinct and how I think they'll end up working with the framework of the narrative. So if your character is not on this list, for sure do not take it as a rejection of a great submission! Also, if you're not selected, please keep tabs on this thread just in case someone drops early (as has been predicted), or if I end up giving into my whims in a few days and creating a second table! I'd lay odds of that being about 50/50...

Anyway, let's get on with it! Would the following people please report to the newly created Discussion thread?

Cuthalian
Jack
Kit'Arr
Niccan
Theren

Good Gaming to the chosen.

So it seems that 2nd table would have

2nd table:

Rune - ?? Aasimar Cleric 2 / Brawler 1
Basil - Elven Ranger (Combat Style: Archery) 3
Liam - monk(scaled fist)/fighter (dragonheir scion)
Alaïs - Elf Skald (Bacchanal, Court Poet) 3
Will - Half-Elf (Kellid) arcanist 3

Well if folks are interested I have a recruitment running for another game, that would lead into recruitment for another game run by a different GM.

Have fun, everyone! Maybe we'll see each other in another game some other time! :)

Enjoy the game.
