Annalina "Lina" Vell |

It's Annalina, not Annaline, btw.
I really like these characters. All seem unique, despite everyone using the Tinker sphere lol
Lina doesn't. Mostly because that'd take valuable talents away from ever more creative ways of punching people.
That said, one of the earlier iterations on this concept would have had Thax be the AI loaded up on a Taskmaster Armiger, but that particular build (Taskmaster Armiger//Warden) got too convoluted so I abandoned it.

eriktd |

It's Annalina, not Annaline, btw.
Whoops! I updated the file for the next time, sorry.
Theme = Drow Noble MindMage Investigator
{Nobel from feats and Traits}
Prestige class = Detective
As in investigator (Detective)Sorry Prestige class will be Great Mind L1
You'll want to take another look at the campaign guidelines, specifically the part about Backgrounds and Campaign Traits! Every character chooses a Character Theme from a specific list of nine in the Extended Player's Guide. These supercharged "campaign traits" have a related theme bonus feat and a specific three-level prestige class that every character gets the first level in to start. :)
I really like these characters. All seem unique, despite everyone using the Tinker sphere lol
I suspect this is because of the character themes. They all have really strong flavor, and that helps the players carve out something really distinct with each of them!

Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano |

Thanks Eriktd that is really helpfull, and I will do
Still getting my head around the build so must have missed that.
SO spotted it as you say,
Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano is 100% Theme Vekeshi Mystic
Upon leaving the Dreaming, vekeshi mystics return to their normal lives, but seek positions of power in military, law enforcement, or the underworld, where they use their authority to punish those who continually threaten people who are simply trying to make a better life for themselves.
So she will be Lawful neutral I think and works to upkeep the law.

Fury of the Tempest |

I really like these characters. All seem unique, despite everyone using the Tinker sphere lol
To be fair, it is quite an expansive sphere, with 5 packages and many, many talents.
Honestly, Tinker isn't a Sphere. Its a subsystem that you access via Spheres.
HAHA do we seriously have one of every theme on our hands?
Which is good, more variety, and it means the DM can select one party member for every theme!

Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano |

Are Double Barrel Sawn Off Shotguns allowed, half range and 1.5 DMG
Do you think, I like the idea her ladyship walks around with a hand cannon on her hip and can also be load it with rock salt to disperse angry pub mobs without killing anyone.
"Go on now, off ta bed with-the-lot-of-ya, before I put another load of salt up ya-arss. Go on now, ya wives will be waiting and you will be sober in the morning and thankful I did not blow ya bloody heads off."
"Your supposed to be a Lady!!"
"I am an lady and don't you forget it Tinker Will Cobbles, and your lucky now I am so you are, if not I would have called the brute quied in, and you would all be sitting here now with cracked heads so you would. Now off with you and let the Inn keep close up his Inn. Go on now"
For some reason I hear her ladyship's voice as Irish.

Yeah, the Tinker Sphere is large enough for nearly an entire party to dip their toes into and not have much overlap, if any. It more than makes up for how terrible its predecessor, the Tech Sphere, was. Definitely one of the best Spheres written in my book.
Regarding the talk about the variety of character themes/campaign traits being used, that's important because it IS going to have an impact on selections. Having a broad range of character themes/campaign traits is definitely my preference since each one can open up a huge range of new options, story beats, and NPC interactions. And me, I'm the kind of guy that loves being able to provide a lot of cool and unique options tailored to certain niches as it is, so it's doubly important for me.
@Ana Brunas: Do you need help figuring out how gestalt works for spheres? The differences are minimal, but I can understand how it might seem confusing at first.

Fury of the Tempest |

Definitely one of the best Spheres written in my book.
You should be happy to hear then that DRS, the creators of Tinker - and Polished Dark - are now looking to create a Polished Telekinesis and have a Poll up about that exact project, looking for as much feedback as possible.

Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano |

The rain came down and the street was almost empty, Sitting on the cobles was a brute of a man, his arms and legs now bloody from the fight. Shackles where on his wrists and ankles his head bowed down. Around him stood come nine, R.H.C. Garda Síochána, two of which where been tended for severe injuries the rest had cuts and bruises from the take down.
One of them now looked at the Shackled man, Sargent Willkes
as one of the R.H.C. Garda came to him.
"She is here Sargent"
He looked back and saw the dark skinned, Eladrin. He walked over to her.
"Officer Da Romano, nice of you to come over our way."
"Not at all Sargent Willkes, what do you need me to do?"
"See that big feller there, well he was paid to kill and merchant and his family, Father, mother and daughter, Father, mother we found, dead, but the daughter is missing. We don't know what he has done with her, she was due to be married next month, so she is no child. We think he took her and sold her. But to who."
"And he is not talking"
Sargent Willkes nodded.
"Right then best get started"
She took off her raincoat and hat, and handed them a young R.H.C. Garda . Then she walked up to the Shackled man sitting on the street cobbles.
"Hello there I hear you in a bit of bother. Well I am here to help. See we know you killed two persons. And I have no doubt you will hang for that. But you see, they had a daughter and it looks every much like you took her. Now for that you may have a few things happen to you."
As she talks her let her mind reach out and feel around his, hard nut this, he was angry and for some reason, resentful, of her and the R.H.C. but something more, a deep feeling of guilt.
"You see Garda Tillmen over there, well he wants to break every bone in your body, one by one. Very painful. And Garda Glen wants to shoot you full of holes and see how long you last before you talk. Again very painful. And Sargent Willkes well he would just nail you to a door and beat you to death. Again very painful"
Also most there...
Will save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Got ya
"But you know they all had to wait for me to get here, and do you know way Mr Feiller"
A look now on his face as he tilts his head to look into her eyes.
"Yes I know your real name Jack, they all waited for me because, I am the real horror. See I know you can take pain, all that anger, range, growing up on the street everyone looking down at you. That time you took a grr fruit and got beaten for it."
Now fear crossed his face.
"You can feel me now can't you, in your head, yes I am there, see, remember that street 20 years ago, look is that me standing there."
Then he spoke
"GET OUT, THIS ENT RIGHT GET OUT!"
He shook his head but it was to late.
"This last job, You broke in around the back, 1st sneaking into the parents room, killing him quite not a sound, arr but taking your time with the wife. That's when the girl walked in, she lunged at you and you slapped her, out cold, but what to do, so like your own dear sister, so rapped her up in bed sheets, slunger her over your shoulder, and off into the night"
"GET OUT! GET OUT! IF MY HEAD!!!"
He screams now.
"Some place you can enjoy her later, relive that time with your sister, but how? then Arr the street with the ladies if the night, there is one place you like to use, and its owner, all too happy to buy of you a sleeping girl. Let you use her later cheap, dress her up like sister"
He was looking at her, panting, real fear in his eyes,
What she said next, she said so only he could hear.
"You will get up and you will take Sargent Willkes and his men to where you sold the girl, you will admit to this crime, and lose your life for it, you will do all this or I will tell the city what you did to your sister"
Intimidate 1d20 + 13 + 1d6 ⇒ (18) + 13 + (5) = 36
Now real fear was in his eyes,
She waited a moment, then stood back up, looking at him once more, she turned and walked back to Sargent Willkes,
"He will cooperate now, the girl is alive, just in a brothel."
She took back her coat and hat, put them on and then with a nod, walk away back down the street she had come,.
The Sargent looked at the young Garda.
"Pray to the gods you never cross that one, she puts the fear of them in me so she dose"
And he turned to the broken brute of a man, now sobbing in the rain filled street.
My idea is others have fighting and killing down, I want Calista to be know as a interrogator, some one with a set of skills, the R.H.C would want to explicit.

Fury of the Tempest |

So quick question. What are the rules for companions exactly? What do they get?
I'm assuming they get the max HP, maybe the +5 HP, and the Automatic Bonus Progression-Lite as well. But do they get anything else? Do they get the improved feat progression, for example? Or what about the free +2 to ability scores?
Apart from some items, my companions are all I have to sort out, so its pretty important to know how they stand.

ChrisAsmadi |

From each class, you get: their talent progression & any bonus talents (remember that if you get a talent from something and you already have it, you get another talent in that sphere if the class features doesn't specify anything).
You can also get, once: the bonus two talents for being a Spherecaster (extra classes do nothing here), the four talents from a Martial Tradition (a second martial class grants two (discipline)/Armour Training talents) and the three or six talents from a Trade Tradition (plus another (trade) talent for the second class).
This has just reminded me that I didn't include those extra two (discipline) talents on Lina, but she doesn't need them, so it doesn't really matter.

namo |

@namo: No, you would only gain Gun Training if you get Gunsmithing from a more traditional source, such as class features, talents, feats, etc.
Firearm Proficiency is a talent, that also grants Gunsmithing. In retrospect, the talent name is very ambiguous and I should have mentioned "talent" in the text, so that people would not need to click the link to know it wasn't just class proficiency. :)
eriktd made me think of another question: are Firearms simple weapons for the PCs and their companions?
The "Guns Everywhere when buying from the R.H.C." creation rule does not make that 100% clear either.
(Sorry for the delayed question, I was busy because of a work seminar.)
@Fury: companions don't get ABP IIRC, this was answered previously.

Gearmaster of the Turning Age |

@Fury of the Tempest: Companions get max HP per HD and that's basically it. The game isn't particularly harder than the original, so they don't need ABP-lite and such.
@namo: Ah, I thought you meant just generic weapon proficiencies! My bad.
I'd say that whether firearms are considered Simple for standard proficiency lists or not kind of depends on where the character was raised. Consider this: a character raised in Crissilyir, where most technology is banned per The Clergy that runs the nation, likely isn't going to have any proficiency with it unless they're in the criminal underworld or such, while someone from Danor or Drakr is very likely to have some baseline knowledge about firearms at the very least. That's kind of where I'm at with it because, at the end of the day, Zeitgeist's world lorewise has different tech levels and firearm distribution depending on the countries in question. So in the interest in keeping things more lore-friendly, I'm inclined to throw out the dreaded 'it depends' ruling, much as I hate the ambiguity.
@Léonie Crouet: Looks good so far! I definitely appreciate the extra work tying her into the setting a little more. Just one minor quibble: Heward Sechim's Alkahest Factory hasn't been open but for a few years as of the opening of the campaign, so her parents wouldn't have been able to meet there unless she's five years old or under. I can't remember which two people mentioned that as a background element, so I can't remember if I'd made it clear or not here in the thread.

Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano |

@Gearmaster I have tried to replace spells from the Drow Nobility
feats with equivalent spheres of power ones, most match but Father fall and Hover are proving problematic, as I can;t seem to find an equivalent spheres of power ability
Feats
1:Drow Nobility
2:Improved Drow Nobility
3:Greater Drow Nobility
Detect magic spell-like ability constant.
You detect magical auras. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject.
1st Round: Presence or absence of magical auras.
2nd Round: Number of different magical auras and the power of the most potent aura.
3rd Round: The strength and location of each aura. If the items or creatures bearing the auras are in line of sight, you can make Knowledge (arcana) skill checks to determine the school of magic involved in each. (Make one check per aura: DC 15 + CL3, or 15 + 1/2 caster level for a nonspell effect.) If the aura emanates from a magic item, you can attempt to identify its properties (see Spellcraft).
Magical areas, multiple types of magic, or strong local magical emanations may distort or conceal weaker auras.
Aura Strength: An aura’s power depends on a spell’s functioning spell level or an item’s caster level; see the accompanying table. If an aura falls into more than one category, detect magic indicates the stronger of the two.
Can use your dancing lights, deeper darkness, faerie fire, feather fall, and levitate spell-like abilities at wil
Dancing Lights = Dancing Lights
You may create a glow effect without the need for a creature or object. This allows you to create a floating ball of light that may fly up to 60 feet per round and may be directed as a free action. You may give these lights simple commands, such as following a creature you can see or traveling in a specified pattern.
deeper darkness = Greater Darkness At Will
When creating an area of darkness or blot. This allows you to create a sphere of darkness with a radius of up to 20 feet + 5 feet per caster level. If combined with the Wall Of Darkness talent, this allows you to create six 10-foot cubes, +2 cubes per caster level.
faerie fire = Fenestrate (light)
You can create bright light that makes everything and everyone within the area of the bright light translucent enough that they can be seen through. This includes creatures, objects, structures, and even the ground itself. Objects are not invisible, however, and seeing through them is difficult. Objects that grant cover still grant concealment, but any creature using such an object to hide receives a -10 penalty to their Stealth. Magical fog effects are countered by this Light talent the way magical darkness can be countered by Light talents. Effects based on light (such as most Light sphere abilities) can pass through to affect other objects, but other effects are still stopped by solid objects. This light can be placed on a single structure to make it translucent. If the structure is larger than the area of the glow, then only part of the structure is made translucent.
feather fall = feather fall
The affected creatures or objects fall slowly. Feather fall instantly changes the rate at which the targets fall to a mere 60 feet per round (equivalent to the end of a fall from a few feet), and the subjects take no damage upon landing while the spell is in effect Self only. (including gear and carried objects up to each creature’s maximum load) or objects, or the equivalent in larger creatures: a Large creature or object counts as two Medium creatures or objects, a Huge creature or object counts as four Medium creatures or objects, and so forth. This has no special effect on ranged weapons unless they are falling quite a distance. If the spell is cast on a falling item, the object does half normal damage based on its weight, with no bonus for the height of the drop. Feather fall works only upon free-falling objects. It does not affect a sword blow or a charging or flying creature.
levitate = levitate
Levitate allows you to move yourself, another creature, or an object up and down as you wish. A creature must be willing to be levitated, and an object must be unattended or possessed by a willing creature. You can mentally direct the recipient to move up or down as much as 20 feet each round; doing so is a move action. You cannot move the recipient horizontally, but the recipient could clamber along the face of a cliff, for example, or push against a ceiling to move laterally (generally at half its base land speed). A levitating creature that attacks with a melee or ranged weapon finds itself increasingly unstable; the first attack has a -1 penalty on attack rolls, the second -2, and so on, to a maximum penalty of -5. A full round spent stabilizing allows the creature to begin again at -1.

That... could become a significant issue later in game, as we can't buy any stat-boosting items, but the Big Six are generally necessary for PCs and Companions to keep up.
Still, for now, it should be fine. Max HP it is!

Gearmaster of the Turning Age |

@Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano: Limited-use SLAs generally aren't replaced in Spheres because there isn't always a viable replacement option.
@Fury of the Tempest: Oh, you needn't worry, I have ideas for how to handle that whenever it becomes pressing. Probably one of the simplest solutions is a magic boon- or empowering death energies- from a fey that could 'evolve' an animal companion or such. Other things including a blessing from one of the beast god shrines in Elfaivar, some weird relic from the Age of the Ancients, coming across a foe whose own companion has magical barding/armor/claw sheathes/whatever, etc. At this stage of the game, basic companions should be fine as-is.

I also fixed many typos. >.<
I blame lack of sleep for both issues!

I just now woke back up from my unintended nap and decided to refresh the page to see if anyone replied yet. So yeah, being tired and it causing a goof or two is definitely something I can relate to and sympathize with.

Quite fair, quite fair.
Also, I have to say its so frustrating that I can't change Alias names. You need 10 posts to be able to edit an Alias, but once you've made 10 posts, you can't change the name...
If Paizo forums didn't have fun RPs like this one, I really wouldn't bother, as it is such a pain. Can't edit after an hour has passed, can't change Alias names, have to manually add in all the formating...

I've had people I've tried to turn on to Pathfinder tell me they were interested but the website scarred them away. One of the most common complaints about PF is the website lol. It might be THE most common complaint.
I appreciate that out-of-the-box website solutions for what paizo was trying to do didn't exist back then, and I know Paizo isn't a financial juggernaut, but, like, it's time for a new website.

Lady Calista Lisia Da Romano |

Ok, I think she is done, She has skills and brains, not so much a hard hitter as some, But she uses her wits to fight as much as her fists.
Born in the Central District, as the youngest daughter to Enobled bureaucratic family. Unlike her two elder Sisters, like her mother, went to work in the law courts. And her two brothers, long ago marred off. She found being on the ground, out on the streets, being there when crime happens far more appealing. Much to her Mother's and sisters dismay she joined the constabulary and has never looked back.

Gabriel XIII |

Not sure you folks are still looking for more or if this character concept fits... it was actually the first (and perhaps only character I'd created for Spheres).
Obviously, I'd need to level & gestalt him up and tie him into the storyline as best I can. And, I'll have to look up how Spheres works again :) If you guys are interested in another applicant.
Description: 6'2", slender build, black hair, blue-grey eyes
Background (how it began):. Gabriel... they tried to change his name, tell him he was someone else, but they couldn't. It wasn't even his given name, it's what his mother wished to call him... She's whisper it in the lullabies.
Then, they "introduced" the other-mind and waves of nausea, days of confusion and what seemed an eternity of fear. It wasn't there, and then it was... he couldn't shake it. Watching, waiting to "get" him.
A desire, no... a hunger for him. It was invasive, under his skin, and unstoppable force within his very psyche. And so he became the immovable object, Gabriel. And it, no... she gave... herself a name. Michal.
Perfectly paired, complementary, supplementary... coming to an understanding that it was in their best interest to co-exist.
She nursed him back to health in the mindscape, he promised to fight and never surrender so that she may live. Neither would give up on the other. It was a pact of sorts.
They were proof that the trials were a success. And, they were the reason the experiments should never have been attempted.
The other subjects broke under the stress, becoming insane in some manner or another. The less insane ones excelled in combat. Fitting after all, they were meant to be the perfect soldiers, spies, operatives...
But, none would come to defeat Gabriel... honest with himself, he knew they could. He wasn't the fastest, nor the smartest and definitely not the strongest.
Eventually, the fights were to the death... And to Gabriel's surprise it was Michal who held back, refusing to kill a fellow subject... and that was when all Hells broke loose.

One of the problems is that switching to a new forum would probably break existing games and there are decades of forum posts. They could go to a new system and keep the old one for a few years, but that would be messy.

if they use Liferay over Oracle WebCenter* which I think they are using , this is 100% doable. In fact they could have the UX just be old or new. The underlying format data hooks would be the same.
Just with new UX options and tools. Myself I would look to add a AI text checker and expander for posts, auto die rollers and PC sidecar formats for building PCs. But that is all next gen site stuff. however all doable right now.* Not giving any hacking help here as Liferay is used buy a LOT of online sites and its comes in loads of flavors.

Excellent, excellent! I will probably begin the review process in a day or two for those who have already finished and give everyone else maybe a week to finish everything up out of fairness. This way I can be more efficient with everyone's time and not end up repeating the mistake I made with my Coliseum Morpheuon game's review process. For context, I waited until everyone was finished before starting reviews, which lengthened the recruitment by about a week or so longer than it probably needed to be. I don't want to make that mistake again, which is why I will be tackling those initial reviews soon.

Alright, discipline talents chosen. Went with Techmaniac (doubt it will be useful, but it very much is in character) and Archery Bash.
Admittedly the character is probably more underpowered than I could have gone with Spheres, but this is my first time and I retooled a character who's decidedly anti-magic in their character.
I do have one question, though, can she simultaneously make a ranged sunder and disarm attempt with her talents? Narratively, it makes sense, if you're shooting something out of someone's hand it's going to get damaged, the mechanics just seem incredibly funky.

My PC is an Investigator, as such other are a resorce to her.
So I wanted to post how she may know the other PCs
Kardin Shieldshatter, She meet the dwarf Gunsmith and blacksmith while while researching engineering. She often goes to him for advice on the subject. She considers him truthful and trustworthy, he also likes a good drink which she also likes.
Tavius She knows him form his time teaching at Pardwight University. She even attended a few of his classes. She calls him
Proff, and gives him respect for being one of the few persons she knows who is smarter than her. She will also seek him when she has a tricky investigation for advice.
Lacrimadia Having worked with her, and seen her skills as a forensic investigator, and the fact Lacrimadia has never been faczed by her 'Gifts' Lady Calista likes her and has spent some time at the Bar, talking with her about flint Gossip.
Annalina "Lina" Vell Lina is funny, well Calista thinks so, she has a cool gift calling, she seems to see things others do not. Calista has learned to trust things Lina says. She likes her and is another who joins them at the Bar.
Ana Brunas, Calista respects this catfolk Technologist gunslinger
she has some cool skills. More than once when a mission went south, it was Ana who acted 1st and changed things for the better. Calista really likes her and is always to hit the streets with her.
Captain Zephyr Aetherlock Calista likes him and for a time, had a thing for the slart sea dog. But things like that dont last long on the force. Now she knows him for being cool under fire, and a great tatiction.
Léonie Crouet Smart, sneaky, and a total tech head. Calista called Léonie "Tech Support" becouse Léonie is always able to fix the small bits of tech she has. She likes Léonie and again another one form the Bar.
Ayreth A druid and hedgewitch, Calista is always willing to hear the wise words of Ayreth, trusted and respected buy Calista.
